Filter by:Partially HLA-matched irradiated donor lymphcyte infusion alone resulted in 27% overall response rate (ORR) in advanced renal cell carcinoma without significant toxicities. In addition, high-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2)showed an ORR of 6-21% in metastatic melanoma or renal cell carcinoma with a durable response in patients who achieved complete remission. Therefore, irradiated donor lymphocyte infusion plus high-dose IL-2 might show a synergistic anti-tumor activity agaist relapsed or metastatic melanoma or renal cell carcinoma.
The purpose of this study is to determine the best rate of infusion of amino acids (15% CLINISOL - sulfite-free (Amino Acid) Injection) for nutrition in subjects with with stages II to IVB head and neck cancer.
The primary objectives of this study are to evaluate the safety, tolerability and steady-state PK and confirm the dose of EVG/r in HIV-1 infected, antiretroviral treatment-experienced children 4 weeks to <18 years of age. The study consists of 2 parts: Part A and Part B. Part A will enroll participants with suppressed viremia (HIV-1 RNA < 50 copies/mL) or failing a current antiretroviral (ARV) regimen (HIV-1 RNA > 1,000 copies/mL only for participants in Cohort 2, Part A) to evaluate the steady state PK and confirm the dose of EVG. Part B will enroll participants who are failing a current ARV regimen (HIV-1 RNA > 1,000 copies/mL) to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and antiviral activity of EVG. The study consists of 4 age cohorts with each cohort including 2 parts (Part A and Part B) with the exception of the adolescent age cohort (Cohort 1: 12 to < 18 years old) containing Part B only.
Many women with breast cancer who are treated with aromatase inhibitor medications develop difficulty sleeping and fatigue during treatment. Some examples of aromatase inhibitor medications include anastrozole (Arimidex), exemestane (Aromasin), and letrozole (Femara). Frequently, sleeping pills do not work very well to improve sleep. Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) is a medication that was originally developed to treat muscle spasms. It may also improve sleep in patients with chronic pain disorders, such as fibromyalgia. In this study we are testing to see if cyclobenzaprine at bedtime will help improve sleep in women treated with aromatase inhibitors.
The main purpose of this study is to confirm whether the AngioDynamics BioFlo™ Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) is associated with less formation of blood clots compared to another commercially available PICC.
This phase I/II trial study evaluates the tolerability and best tolerated dose of the PI3K inhibitor GDC-0941 when given with the chemotherapy cisplatin. This study will also examine how well the combination of GDC-0941 and cisplatin work in treating patients with androgen receptor negative triple negative metastatic breast cancer. Patients will be randomized to receive cisplatin alone or cisplatin with GDC-0941 in the phase II portion. Those receiving cisplatin alone can receive GDC-0941 upon progression of their disease. Cisplatin is a chemotherapy which has been shown to be effective in treating triple negative breast cancer. Preclinical studies show that adding a PI3K inhibitor such as GDC-0941 to cisplatin may be a more effective treatment for breast cancer.
The purpose of the transfusion of packed red blood cell is to overcome acute or chronic anemia cause tissue hypoxia. It increases hemoglobin concentration and consequently increase oxygen delivery to peripheral tissues. The perioperative period of major surgery is a field particularly favorable to the development of tissue hypoxia, which is associated with increased mortality and postoperative morbidity. Optimization of oxygen transport to tissues at the preoperative period is accompanied by a significant reduction of these major complications. Clinical complications (infectious or otherwise) related to transfusion of caps Red Blood cells Caps (RBC)are well known. Many studies seem to evidence the potentially deleterious effect of transfusion, especially in patients with poor condition, related to storage time. Indeed, during storage, impaired blood-related storage is created. It is metabolic, biochemical and molecular levels. Many studies, carried out in particular in cardiac surgery where patients are suitable for transfusion RBC, have focused on the effect of transfusions on consumption and the transport of oxygen to demonstrate the impact of conservation lesions on their role in vivo. In particular, a single-center retrospective American study showed reduction of postoperative complications in patients who received RBC under 14 days. However one of the confounding factors present is that all transfused RBCs are not leukoreduced (unlike the French transfusion policy). In addition, the greater part of the clinical studies are controversial. That is why we aim to assess, through a retrospective study of data, the impact of transfusion of red red blood cells within 14 days of post-operative morbidity and mortality, compared to the usual transfusion practice in cardiac surgery patients.
This randomized pilot phase I trial studies the side effects of dietary fat levels and abiraterone acetate uptake in patients with metastatic hormone-resistant prostate cancer. Abiraterone acetate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Eating a low or high fat diet may increase the uptake of abiraterone acetate.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of trametinib when given together with combination chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. Trametinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving trametinib, combination chemotherapy, and radiation therapy may be a better treatment for non-small cell lung cancer.
This is a multi-center, open-label Phase Ib dose escalation part followed by a randomized double-blinded placebo controlled Phase II part. The Phase Ib part will determine the Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD)/Recommended Phase II Dose (RP2D) of buparlisib in combination with docetaxel. Subsequently the MTD/RP2D will be investigated in a Phase II randomized trial in patients with advanced or metastatic squamous NSCLC.
