The Potential Association of Long Non-coding RNA (NEAT1 and MALAT1) in the Process of Epithelial-mesenchymal Transition in Periodontitis

Periodontitis is a polymicrobial, inflammatory condition affecting tooth-supporting tissues. It is characterized by a progressive loss of epithelial attachment and resorption of alveolar bone, which can lead to tooth loss. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been proposed as a reversible process that shifts the cell phenotype from epithelial to mesenchymal-like and may be involved in the process of periodontal inflammation either completely or partially. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a large class of regulatory transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides lacking evident protein-coding potential. Studies have shown that lncRNA dysregulation plays key roles in human diseases, including cancer, by modulating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The involvement of lncRNAs markers in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease induced EMT has not been studied thoroughly and have created a gap in the knowledge.

The goal of this clinical trial is to test an online intervention for adults with excoriation disorder (skin picking). The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is the online intervention effective, compared to a waitlist control condition? 2. Is the online intervention acceptable to use? Participants will be randomized into either the online intervention or waitlist control condition: 1. Participants in the intervention condition will be asked to complete an 8 module acceptance-enhanced behavioral training (AEBT) program for skin picking and 4 surveys over 3 months. 2. Participants in the waitlist condition will be asked to complete 4 surveys over 3 months, and will receive access to the intervention once the study is complete.

Study to Evaluate an 8 mg Aflibercept (EYLEA®) Prefilled Syringe (PFS)

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals developed a single-dose pre-filled syringe (PFS) to deliver 8 mg aflibercept. The PFS is a convenient device that contains the study medication that will be injected in your study eye. A PFS offers a sterile, single dose of study drug within the syringe; this eliminates the need for the retina specialist to prepare the injection syringe from a separate vial. This Phase IIIb study is focused on patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) and neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). The main aim of the study is to evaluate if the 8 mg aflibercept PFS allows for successful preparation and administration of 8 mg aflibercept by retina specialists. The study will also assess the safety of 8 mg aflibercept PFS use. Regeneron will use the information from the study to better understand if the PFS can be used safely and effectively by retina specialists to administer 8 mg aflibercept.

The VERIFY Study: An Observational Study Called VERIFY to Learn More About the Use of Vericiguat in People With Chronic Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction

This is an observational study in which the health data of people with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) are collected using administrative claims data. In observational studies, only observations are made and participants do not receive any advice or changes to healthcare. Chronic HFrEF is a longterm condition that occurs when the heart is weak and cannot pump enough blood to the rest of the body with each heartbeat. This leads to a reduced supply of oxygen which the body requires to function properly. The common symptoms include breathlessness, weakness, fatigue, and swelling in the ankles and legs. If left untreated, heart failure can lead to other serious health problems, including damage to other organs, which may result in hospital stays and even death. Vericiguat works by increasing the activity of an enzyme called soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), which relaxes the blood vessels and allows more blood to flow through. As a result, the heart is able to pump better. Vericiguat was approved for the treatment of HFrEF based on the results of a study called VICTORIA. The VICTORIA study showed that vericiguat helps in lowering the chances of death or hospitalization due to heart failure. There is limited information available about the use of vericiguat for the treatment of HFrEF under realworld conditions. The main purpose of this study is to collect information about the characteristics of people with HFrEF, who are on vericiguat in addition to at least one standard treatment. Researchers will collect information about participants' basic characteristics, including their age, gender, other health conditions they may have, and the medicines they may be taking. The data will come from administrative claims data for people in the United States of America who were diagnosed with HFrEF between January 2020 and June 2022. In this study, only available data from routine care is collected. No visits or tests are required as part of this study.
