Filter by:This phase II trial studies how well stereotactic body radiation therapy works in treating patients with kidney cancer that has spread to other places in the body (metastatic). Stereotactic body radiation therapy uses special equipment to position a patient and deliver radiation to tumors with high precision. This method may kill tumor cells with fewer doses over a shorter period and cause less damage to normal tissue.
The goal of this study is to determine whether metabolic control centers in the brain can be activated in patients with type 2 diabetes as compared to non-diabetic individuals. This is important since people with diabetes have inappropriately high production of glucose, which could be at least in part due to impaired activation of important brain centers.
Idiopathic Nephrotic Syndrome (INS) is the first glomerulopathy in children and 60% of the patients develop Steroid-Dependant Nephrotic Syndrome (SDNS). Recently, rituximab (RTX), a humanized anti-CD20 antibody depleting B cells demonstrated the ability to increase relapse free survival and to decrease the number of relapse and the need of other immunosuppressive drugs. However, the remission rate after 2 years is only 30 to 40%. The aim of the study is to study the ability of intravenous Immunoglobulin to improve remission rate in SDNS when added associated with Rituximab compared to a treatment by Rituximab alone.
The focus of this study is to assess breast cancer survivors perspectives of Viveve® Treatment using patient reported outcome tools with a focus on symptoms associated with vulvovaginal atrophy/genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). This will be assessed by the FSFI, FSDS-R and DIVA questionnaires.
High tibial osteotomy (HTO is often indicated in physically active patients. The insertion of a bone graft during surgery has been shown to have good clinical and biomechanical outcomes, however objective data regarding post-surgery physical activity (PA) levels in patients who have undergone HTO with and without bone grafts does not exist in the literature. Using accelerometers and questionnaires, this study will be the first to investigate this in an objective way.
This clinical trial is an open-label one-time injection dose study in which scAAV1.tMCK.NTF3 will be administered by intramuscular injections into muscles in both legs in CMT1A subjects with PMP22 gene duplication. Three subjects ages 18 to 35 years receiving (8.87e11 vg/kg) will be enrolled.
Washington University in St. Louis is seeking participants with ALS for a study to determine the half-life of the protein SOD1 in the cerebral spinal fluid. Mutations in the SOD1 gene are known to cause some forms of familial ALS. Researchers are developing a treatment to reduce the level of SOD1 in familial ALS, but need to know more about how long SOD1 stays in the body ("half-life") to help determine if the new treatment is effective.
Current management of hypertension in PD motor fluctuators is flawed. The current practice often is to treat transient hypertensive spikes reported by patients or measured in clinics with anti-hypertensive medications. This may contribute to morbidity by worsening orthostatic hypotension and increasing fall risk. There is a scarcity of literature on this subject and there is no documentation of severe hypertension with rises in systolic blood pressure exceeding 50% of baseline occurring during motor "OFF". There are two studies that have demonstrated that blood pressure fluctuation can occur in motor fluctuators during the "OFF" state1,2. The study by Baratti et al measured blood pressure in 13 Parkinson's disease patients, 7 with motor fluctuations and 6 without fluctuations. In the fluctuators, the mean systolic/diastolic blood pressures were significantly higher than the non-fluctuators during the "OFF" state but not the "ON" state.
This pilot phase I trial studies the side effects of direct tumor microinjection and fludeoxyglucose F-18 positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) in testing drug sensitivity in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, or stage IV breast cancer that has returned after a period of improvement or does not respond to treatment. Injecting tiny amounts of anti-cancer drugs directly into tumors on the skin or in lymph nodes and diagnostic procedures, such as FDG-PET, may help to show which drugs work better in treating patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, or breast cancer.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of CD4+ and CD8+ HA-1 T cell receptor (TCR) (HA-1 T TCR) T cells in treating patients with acute leukemia that persists, has come back (recurrent) or does not respond to treatment (refractory) following donor stem cell transplant. T cell receptor is a special protein on T cells that helps them recognize proteins on other cells including leukemia. HA-1 is a protein that is present on the surface of some peoples' blood cells, including leukemia. HA-1 T cell immunotherapy enables genes to be added to the donor cells to make them recognize HA-1 markers on leukemia cells.
