A Study Called VICTORIA to Learn More About How Well Larotrectinib Works in Adults With TRK Fusion-positive Cancer by Comparing Larotrectinib Data From Clinical Studies With Data of Other Treatments From Actual Practice

This is an observational study in which patient data from the past of adult people with solid tumors harboring NTRK gene fusion are studied. This study will focus on 5 tumor types which have been at the late stage or have spread to other parts of the body. These 5 tumor types are: - Non-small-cell-lung cancer - Colorectal cancer (located in the intestine) - Thyroid cancer - Sarcomas (located in the connective tissue like bones or body fat) - Salivary gland carcinoma In some people with cancer, the cancer cells have specific changes in their building plans (genes) called NTRK gene fusion. NTRK stands for neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase, the specific gene that is changed. Due to this change in the gene, an altered protein known as a TRK fusion protein is made, which can cause cancer cells to grow and survive. While NTRK is the gene, TRK (tropomyosin receptor kinase) is the name of the protein. The specific cancer is therefore also called TRK fusion-positive cancer. The study drug, larotrectinib works by blocking the altered TRK fusion protein. Larotrectinib is already available in the US, Europe, and in other countries and is approved for doctors to prescribe to patients with TRK fusion cancer. The main purpose of this study is to learn more about how well larotrectinib works in adults with TRK fusion-positive cancer compared to other treatments. Researchers will compare how long participants who received larotrectninib lived to how long participants who received other treatments lived. To do this, larotrectinib data from past clinical studies will be compared with data on other treatments gathered from different health data sources. The data will cover the time between January 2013 and end of August 2022. Besides this data collection, no further tests or examinations are planned and no visits are required in this study.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Training by Homemade Manikin

The experimentally planned research was carried out between the dates of 01.06.2021-10.11.2021 with the students of ……………. Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. The students, whose informed consent form was obtained beforehand, were provided to fill in the Participant Diagnosis Form and the Basic Life Support Information Evaluation Form questioning their demographic characteristics before the education. Afterward, with the e-learning method (Perculus 3 Virtual Classroom), the students have given Basic Life Support training in accordance with the AHA 2020 guidelines through a Powerpoint presentation. After the training, the information evaluation form was filled in again by the students in an electronic environment. Afterward, the students were shown how to make a Basic Life Support manikin with a pillow and plastic pet bottle, and the CPR performance was explained with the manikin. The students who made the performance in the home environment made a video recording and uploaded the videos they took to the system within 1 day. Two researchers who are experts in their fields made the video evaluations according to the basic life support performance evaluation form. Later, in the online debriefing session, the pros and cons of the training were discussed with the students, and after 1 month, knowledge and skills were evaluated again and the level of permanence on the subject was measured.

Effect of PRP Versus BMC in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important stabilizer of knee during daily activity and exercise. The ruptured ACL need to be reconstructed by a new tendon graft which passed the bone tunnel and joint during operation. How to enhance the tendon graft to bone tunnel healing is critical important to prevent recurrent ligament laxity, avoid secondary osteoarthritis, and achieve early return to sports and work. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP),harvest from peripheral blood, is rich in multiple growth factors(i.e. VEGF, PDGD, TGFB, IGF, EGF) which help the injured tissue regeneration. Bone marrow stem cell has been demonstrated to enhance the injured tissue repair both in vitro and in vivo study. However, there is no prospective study in comparing the PRP and BMC to enhance interfacial healing between graft and bone tunnel in ACL reconstruction. Investigators hypothesize that the combination of PRP and BMC has synergetic effect in interfacial healing in ACL reconstruction. Aim of this study: To investigate the result of clinical functional scoring, MRI, and biomechanical study between PRP augmentation, PRP+BMC augmentation and traditional ACL reconstruction.

Electrical Impedance Tomography in Fatty Liver Detection

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition where hepatocytes contain an abnormally high fat percentage. This condition is becoming increasingly common due to unhealthy food habits and sedentary lifestyle. Since NAFLD is a silent disease, many patients would be diagnosed at the advanced stages when fat accumulation, scarring and liver cell damage are irreversible. Therefore, early diagnosis of fatty liver disease during its reversible stages is warranted. Current diagnostic techniques for fatty liver disease, such as the FibroScan® and MRI proton density fat fraction (PDFF) are expensive, and require the active work of certified professionals. Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is an alternative low cost, non-invasive imaging technique that does not involve radiation nor a trained operator. The electrical conductivity of biological tissues varies according to the tissue type and frequency of AC current. Fat tissue conductivity is known to be substantially stable across the EIT current injection frequency spectrum. On the other hand, liver tissue conductivity significantly increases over frequency change. Hence, the liver fat content can be measured using frequency-difference EIT (fdEIT). The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of fdEIT in detecting fatty liver. To achieve this goal, a total of 160 subjects will be recruited, paired fdEIT-Fibroscan data will be acquired. First, optimal fdEIT current injection frequency range will be determined. Second, fdEIT derived indicators will be computed and statistical analysis will be performed to verify the significance of correlation between the two. Comparative exploration between EIT and MRI-PDFF will be performed on a subset of the study population, looking at both spatial localization and image derived indicators. Finally, demographics, clinical assessment and patient history will be analysed to produce demographic group-based insights.

Mycoplasma Species and the Genitourinary System

The purpose of this study is to determine if the presence of Mycoplasma hominis bacteria is associated with Bacterial vaginosis (BV), non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) or vaginitis in patients attending sexual health clinic. Patients were participants of the MYCO WELL D-ONE study. Ethics for this follow-on pathway-to-portfolio study (IRAS:253889) is now approved by NRES and HCRW. The important primary aim of this study is to determine if Mycoplasma hominis (M.hominis) is associated with BV, NGU and vaginitis in the genitourinary system of patients or if they are bacterial commensals. This is important proof of concept work. The secondary aim for this research is to determine if there are clinical and social parameters that are associated with Mycoplasma infection. Preliminary analysis of 100 patients yielded pilot data suggesting M.hominis is strongly associated with BV, NGU and vaginitis. We aim to consolidate these findings by expansion to 1000 patients from our completed MYCOWELL D-ONE study.
