Filter by:The Main purpose of this project to study the uptake pattern of FLT-PET and it is value in assessing the malignant hematopoiesis in MPN within the pediatric age group, in terms of diagnosis, staging and monitoring response to therapy. As well as, evaluating FLT-PET as a novel non-invasive technique in cases with MPN and its role in comparison to the standard bone marrow biopsy with regard to disease diagnosis, assessment of disease activity, detection of transformation, monitoring of treatment response and grading of fibrosis.Furthermore, we aim to study the association of FLT-PET uptake patterns with different genetic makeup (JAK2, CALR positive, MPL, or Triple negative disease) or allele burden in cases of Pre-PMF with the ability of FLT-PET to differentiate between Pre-PMF and ET. Although MPNs are diseases of elderly, MPN is diagnosed in younger age groups in a considerable number of cases. Since most of the available data as well as current WHO classification criteria emphases on the "average" MPN patients who range in age between 55 and 65 years. Less consistent data are available in the groups of patients presenting below this median age, such as children and younger adults which we're planning to reveal.
To determine if survival to hospital discharge with good neurological outcome for adults ages 18-75 who are resuscitated from out-of-hospital VT/VF cardiac arrest without clinical signs of a heart attack do better by going straight to the cardiac catheterization laboratory or admitted to the intensive care unit for evaluation. The investigators think a large portion of resuscitated patients presenting with VT/VF have ischemic heart disease which is the cause for the arrest. And prompt access to the cardiac catheterization laboratory to reverse the blocked artery will improve survival with good neurological outcomes.

The purpose of this study is to assess the benefit of new super-power bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) processors in BAHA users. BAHAs are able to help people with mixed/conductive and single-sided hearing loss when they are unable to use or receive limited benefit from traditional hearing. Until recently, BAHAs were only recommended to people with up to a moderate hearing loss. New super-power BAHA processors may be able to help people who previously were not candidates for BAHAs or received limited benefit from them. The information collected in this study may lead to improved evaluation of and expanded treatment options for people considering BAHA. Different types of hearing tests will be used to compare the devices.
To help determine if there is improved pain relief when a device that makes an arm muscle move (nerve stimulator) is used to place a needle in the area above the collarbone to prevent feeling of pain (anesthesia) of the upper arm.
This trial is a pivotal, placebo-controlled, double-blind, parallel-group, adaptive trial conducted in subjects with DM and CLI Rutherford Category 4. Minimisation will be used to assign eligible subjects in a 2:1 ratio to receive a single intra-arterial administration of REX-001 or matching placebo into the index limb.

Positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) is used in premature infants receiving mechanical ventilation to maintain lungs open and facilitate gas exchange. When ventilation/perfusion mismatch is present, areas of the lung that are open for gas exchange do not match up with areas of the lung that are receiving blood for gas exchange. This study measures the feasibility of enrolling and completing study maneuvers in premature infants for a prospective study measuring the responsiveness of V/Q mismatch to changes in the amount (or level) of PEEP.
To prospectively collect blood and tumor tissue from esophageal cancer patients to identify specific esophageal cancer mutations that can be measured in the blood (cell free DNA) during the course of treatment as a marker of response and recurrence.
This is a double-blinded study involving healthy non-alcoholic (self-reported) volunteers over the age of 21. Consent is obtained prior to participation in the study while the participant is sober. Volunteers are recruited from residency programs, hospital employees, emergency medical personnel, and friends of the study investigators. If the volunteers choose to drink, they can participate in the study the night of ingestion of alcohol. There is no amount we ask them to drink, and we allow them to withdraw from the study at any time. We never force them to drink alcohol, or even encourage it. The participation is completely voluntary, if they would like to participate and if they choose to drink alcohol, we ask them to participate in the placebo controlled study in the safety of their own home. Then materials for the study are given out prior to their participation. An envelope is given with the questionnaire, and a small packet containing 3 pills of either NAC or placebo, and a small smear of Vicks vapor rub concealed in a small packet. At the end of their alcohol ingestion, the volunteer is asked to estimate the number roof drinks consumed and take 1 capsule per 3 drinks consumed of either 600 mg N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine or placebo capsules. In the morning, each participant fills out a Hangover Symptom Score questionnaire . A random number generator is used to determine placebo or NAC first, then the participant is given the other treatment at their subsequent encounter. Then study is being conducted over a series of many months, and data can be analyzed by the hangover symptoms scale data when using NAC compared to placebo. The data will be analyzed using the numerical values of each category for hangover classification and compare the placebo data to the control data.
