Filter by:The early birth of a premature baby can be a devastating and unplanned situation for parents. Often, their baby cannot be readily held; they can be very sick and fragile. Parents can feel helpless; bonding may be more difficult, parental control is superseded by medical necessity and parents can feel tremendous guilt whenever they are unable to be present at their baby's bedside. The investigators believe that giving parents an opportunity to provide comfort in the form of the mother's voice, pre-recorded and played to her baby, will improve her feeling about her baby in the NICU. The investigators hypothesize that playing the mother's recorded voice to her extremely preterm infant while in the incubator when she cannot be present will improve the depression, anxiety and stress as well as overall feeling about her baby. The investigators will assess the change in depression, anxiety and stress with the use of a validated tool (the DASS21), as a result of the intervention. The investigators will also assess the improvement of her feelings with a questionnaire () to be administered before and after the intervention. The investigators predict that her depression, anxiety and stress as well as positive feeling will increase after the intervention. The investigators also predict that the infant's vital signs will remain stable and/or improve when the recording is played.
The principal objective of the CONFIDENT trial is to assess the efficacy of two units (400-500 mL in total) of convalescent plasma, as compared to Standard of Care (SoC), to reduce day-28 mortality in patients with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia who require mechanical ventilation.
This phase I/II trial investigates the best dose and effect of alisertib in combination with pembrolizumab in treating patients with Rb-deficient head and neck squamous cell cancer. Alisertib may help block the growth of cancer.. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as pembrolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the tumor, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving alisertib in combination with pembrolizumab may help control Rb-deficient head and neck squamous cell cancer. HPV positive head and neck cancers are Rb-deficient.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of the SOMAVAC® 100 Sustained Vacuum System after oncologic resections.
objectives The aim of this study was to assess the implant outcomes as well as hard and soft tissue dimensional changes of immediate implant placement in posterior sites using a custom-made sealing socket abutment (SSA) combined to alveolar ridge preservation (ARP). Material and methods Twenty posterior teeth were immediately replaced with implants in 20 patients. The remaining sockets were filled with Deproteinized Bovine Bone Mineral. Based on intra-oral scanners (IOS), custom-made SSAs were placed the same day. CBCT and IOS were performed to monitor hard and soft tissue dimensional changes. Moreover, implant survival rate, peri-implant bone changes, peri-implant health and pink esthetic score were recorded at 1 year, 3years and 5 years.
1. Title: Study of Biomarkers in Blood and Alveolar Lavage Fluid Samples of Sepsis Patients Complicated With Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) 2. Research center: Single-center study. 3. Design of the research: A prospective and cohort study. 4. Object of the research: Patients(age≥18 years)those who meet the diagnostic criteria of sepsis complicated with ARDS and grouped into ARDS group and non-ARDS adults receiving mechanical ventilation as control. 5. Sample size of the research: Not less than 30 patients in each group. 6. Research approach: After admission to ICU, patients who meet the criteria are divided into mild group and moderate/severe group according to the severity of ARDS. In addition, blood and alveolar lavage fluid were collected within 24 hours for metabonomics analysis, and differential metabolites were screened out to prove the differentiation ability of differential metabolites between mild and moderate/severe ARDS patients. Then, MSEA and STITCH analysis were performed, and the relationship between different metabolites, HO-1 protein, oxidative stress and inflammatory markers in serum and alveolar lavage fluid were determined. And whether differential metabolites are associated with 28-day mortality in patients with moderate/severe ARDS. 7. Aim of the research: The metabolomics techniques were used to compare the differences between sepsis patients with mild ARDS and moderate/severe ARDS. And determine the relationship between different metabolites, HO-1 protein, oxidative stress and inflammatory markers, as well as the predictive effect of metabolites on 28-day mortality in patients. 8. Statistical analysis: Analytical study. 9. The estimated duration of the study:1-2 years.
Despite different clinical characteristics including the response to treatment and the patterns of metastatic relapse, invasive lobular breast carcinoma (ILBC) is treated like invasive ductal breast carcinoma (IDBC) carcinoma both in the clinics and in clinical trials. A large majority of ILBC are ER+/HER2- and almost 90% have loss of E-cadherin (CDH1) expression. A non-clinical study of CDH1 synthetic lethality interactions has identified ROS1 as a potential target. In vivo, ROS1 inhibitors produced profound antitumor effects in multiple models of E-cadherin-defective breast cancer, providing the preclinical rationale for assessing ROS1 inhibitors in this setting. Endocrine therapy being the mainstay of therapy for ER+/HER2- ILBC and the pre-operative setting offering a platform for rapid drug evaluation and biomarker research, the ROSALINE phase 2 study will evaluate the efficacy of Entrectinib (a potent inhibitor of ROS1 among other targets) in combination with letrozole (+ goserelin in premenopausal women) in the early setting of ILBC (stages 1 to 3). The neoadjuvant therapy will last 4 months and post-operative therapy will follow local practice. Biomarker research will include RNA sequencing of initial biopsies and surgical specimens, as well as liquid biopsies.
The purpose of the study is to compare the efficacy of parsaclisib when combined with ruxolitinb versus placebo combined with ruxolitinib in participants with myelofibrosis.
The purpose of the study is to compare the efficacy and safety of parsaclisib when combined with ruxolitinb versus placebo combined with ruxolitinib in participants with myelofibrosis who have suboptimal response while receiving ruxolitinib monotherapy.
This is a Phase III, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center international study to assess the efficacy and safety of durvalumab administered concurrently with dCRT in patients with locally advanced, unresectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
