View clinical trials related to Osteoarthritis.
Filter by:Osteoarthritis is the most common chronic disabling disease, the importance of patient's self-management in chronic disease has been paid more and more attention internationally. Currently, the self-management of OA patients in China is lack of instructions from professional clinicians, and leads to inappropriate excise, irregular drug medication. OAKP (Osteoarthritis of the Knee Self-Management Program) is a program initiated from University of Southern Denmark, follows clinical guidelines of OA, formatted for easy use by patients and clinicians, including customized neuromuscular exercise therapy, educational sessions of what is OA and how to control body weight to protect the knee. The main purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of neuromuscular exercise therapy and OAKP, see whether it can help patients to relief the symptom and improve life quality.
The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of cryotherapy associated with an exercise protocol in pain control, function and quality of life in individuals with knee osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most common musculoskeletal diseases in clinic. It usually occurs in middle-aged people, especially women. An estimated lifetime risk for KOA is approximately 40% in men and 47% in women. KOA is a chronic disease which can lead to obvious pain, joint stiffness, limitation of activity and even disability, with significant associated costs and effects on society, health systems, and individuals. The use of acupuncture as an approach for the management of chronic pain, is receiving increasing recognition from both the public and professionals. However, there are no universally accepted treatment frequency criteria in previous studies. The number of acupuncture treatments is no more than twice per week in most previous studies, while it is usually 3-5 sessions per week in clinical practice in China. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of different EA sessions (3 sessions per week versus once per week) in a pilot randomized controlled trial of KOA.
This is a non-inferiority study on 190 patients to evaluate whether a treatment based on the combination of autologous platelet-rich plasma and hyaluronic acid obtained with Cellular Matrix represents a therapeutic advantage to relieve symptoms associated with a mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis (particularly pain on walking) compared to hyaluronic acid only (Synvisc®-One).
Introduction: The osteoarthrosis is incurable, one of the most incapacitating disease around the world and your prevalence is increasing every year. The main consequences of this disease is pain and loss of functionality as a result of biomechanical limitations coming from articular inflammation. Among the variability of therapeutic resources, we propose MatPilates like a no drug intervention, that probably will contribute for a decrease in the symptoms of this disease. Objective: It is hypothesized that MatPilates is a method capable of decrease pain and increase functionality in elderly woman with osteoarthrosis. Methods: This study is a randomized double blind clinical trial, in which the volunteer need be in between 60 and 69 years old. Will be formed of two groups: MatPilates Group (MG) and Control Group (CG), and the ideal "n" will be calculated in a pilot study.
Knee osteoarthritis(OA), also known as degenerative arthritis, have affected a lot of people. Patients with severe osteoarthritis frequently develop one or more of the typically following symptoms: joint pain, stiffness, activity with joint friction noise, limited mobility, such as difficulty walking and climbing. Now there are many western medicine treatments including symptom relief and joint cartilage protective agents for OA, but the results have not yet satisfied. TCM treatment of osteoarthritis has remarkable curative effect and unique advantage.Tong-Luo-Qu-Tong Plaster is a common method to treat osteoarthritis of the knee for thousands of years in China. It lacked a large sample randomised, double-blind, parallel positive controlled, multicenter clinical trial, and the clinical evidence of Tong-Luo-Qu-Tong Plaster for Knee Osteoarthritis need to be further completed.
Magnet Resonance Image findings of facet osteoarthritis and patient characteristics are prognostic factors for improving or worsening the clinical outcome after treatment with facet infiltration.
Compare the clinical and patient reported outcomes of the Vanguard XP Knee System to the Vanguard CR Knee System in patients with antero-medial osteoarthritis of the knee with an intact anterior cruciate ligament.
A new infusion strategy named the 'programmed intermittent bolus' (PIB) technique delivers the hourly dose within minutes compared to the traditional infusion that delivers such dose over an hour. The PIB technique has demonstrated superior patient satisfaction and reduced local anesthetic consumption when utilized for pain control during labour and delivery. However, it is not known if the PIB technique gives any benefits during a continuous nerve block in other settings. The aim of this randomized controlled trial (RCT) is to elucidate if PIB is better than (traditional) continuous infusion for postoperative analgesia in patients receiving a continuous nerve block for total shoulder arthroplasty with respect to pain control.
This is a randomized controlled trial with the seleXys PC cup and RM Pressfit vitamys cup in combination with the optimys short stem. Wear rate and migration is assessed with roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis (RSA) measurements.
