Filter by:A 12-week, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Parallel-group Phase 3 study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of HP-5000 in Subjects with Osteoarthritis (OA) Pain of the Knee
The study will be Randomized Controlled Trial. It will be conducted in Allied Hospital Faisalabad. The study will be completed in four months duration. Consecutive sampling technique will be used for data collection. A sample size of 40 patients will be taken in this study. Participants will be divided into two groups. Group A will be treated by LLLT and conventional exercises. Group B will perform conventional exercises only. Numeric Pain Rating Scale will be used to measure pain. Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index Score (WOMAC) and Sit to stand test will be used to measure knee function. Goniometry will be used to measure ROM of knee. The participants will fill numeric pain rating scale and WOMAC as subjective measurements. Knee flexion ROM will be measured with universal Goniometer. Total 12 sessions will be given with three sessions per week. Post treatment readings will be taken at the end of 4th week. Data will be analyzed on SPSS 25.
This proposal aims to provide crucial knowledge about the neurobiological mechanisms underlying Tai Chi mind-body therapy for knee osteoarthritis (OA). The central mechanism of knee OA pain will be investigated using brain imaging technology to evaluate how brain function and structure change in response to mind-body exercise over time. Sixty eligible individuals who meet the American College of Rheumatology criteria for knee OA will be randomized into Tai Chi or wellness education interventions for 12 weeks. The investigators will compare changes in resting state functional connectivity of the cognitive control network, and functional magnetic resonance imaging responses to pressure pain and brain morphometry, as well as their association with clinical outcomes. The findings will lead to the establishment of a new treatment paradigm in OA and have broad application to the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Osteoarthritis of the hand is a chronic joint disease that usually affects one or more of the finger joints and it is a major cause of disability. Radiology and the Eaton-Littler classification (Stages I-II-III-IV) are used for its diagnosis. The treatment of stages I, II and in some cases of stage III, is based on pharmacological and rehabilitation measures, including the use of orthoses or splints. The development of Biosplint 3D will allow a qualitative leap forward in the search for an intelligent solution for patients with rhizarthrosis (Degenerative alteration of the trapezius-metacarpal joint (TMJ) characterized by a progressive deterioration of the articular surfaces and new bone formation in them). The aim of the study is to assess the feasibility of applying a personalized splint versus a conventional one. It is not a design aimed at evaluating the efficacy of such treatment. It is a prospective study with two arms, open with 1:1 allocation. The study includes a recruitment visit and two follow-up visits, one at a month and a final visit at 3 months. Patients with a new diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the trapeziometacarpal joint are included. One group of patients wears the usual splint indicated by the personalized doctors of the Service and the other group wears the 3D bi-splint. The main variable is pain, which will be measured by a visual analog scale (VAS). In addition, the DASH questionnaire (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and questions about patient satisfaction with the use of splints will be used.
This is a Phase 1b, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of multiple SC doses of OLP-1002 in patients who have pain due to moderate to severe osteoarthritis (OA) in a hip and/or knee joint. The study consists of: - Screening period: up to 14 days (defined as Day -23 to -9) - Washout period: 5 days (± 1 day) (defined as Day -8 to -4) - Baseline period: 3 days (± 1 day) (defined as Day -3 to -1, where Day -1 is the day before dosing) - Treatment period: 15 days (± 1 day) (defined as Day 1 to 15, where Day 1 is the day of first dosing) - Follow-up period: 30 days (± 5 days) (defined as Day 16 to 45, assuming Day 15 is the day of the last dose) Up to 30 patients will be enrolled in the study and will be randomised in the ratio 1:1:1 to the following arms: - Arm A: 10 patients will receive 5 µg twice-weekly (BIW) OLP-1002 - Arm B: 10 patients will receive 10 µg BIW OLP-1002 - Arm C: 10 patients will receive Placebo BIW
This is a Phase 2b randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-response study in subjects with painful osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. The study will assess the safety and efficacy of multiple doses of MEDI7352 compared to placebo, as well as the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity of MEDI7352 in subjects with moderate to severe chronic pain persistent for 3 months or more not adequately controlled by standard of care treatments.
The purpose of The Improve Osteoarthritis Care study is to improve the quality of osteoarthritis care in Norwegian primary care, by increasing the use of recommended treatment modalities and improving patient access to recommended treatments. The study will use tailored implementation strategies, targeting primary care physicians and physiotherapists to improve knowledge and addressing individual barriers to providing recommended treatments.
Purpose: to investigate the effect of core stability on PF OA. Methods: Thirty-one females with PF OA will be recruited. Patients will be randomly assigned into two groups, group A and group B . Patients in both groups will receive a traditional physical therapy treatment, but group (B) will receive additional core stability exercise. All patients will be evaluated for pain, functional performance, and muscular recruitment strategies (onset and duration) of multifidus, transversus abdominus (TrA), gluteus medius (GM), and vasti measured by quantitative Electromyography during stair ascent. pre and post-treatment.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common joint disorders, affecting not only the joints but also the surrounding muscles, which become weak. Resistance exercise reduces pain and improves function in patients with OA of the knee. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used by patients with OA to reduce pain and thereby maintain the ability to perform daily activities. However, there is accumulating evidence for a negative effect of NSAIDs, thus many patients with OA are treated with dietary supplementations such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, and some studies show a beneficial effects on cartilage and pain. However, their effect on OA symptoms and cartilage remains controversial. On the other hand creatine supplementation has also been observed to show promising effects when combined with resistance training exercise in the elderly, but the evidence is limited in terms of knee osteoarthritis. For this reason the purpose of this study is to determine the effects of creatine supplementation as compared to glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate in the management of knee osteoarthritis when combined with resistance training exercise.
