RCT, Blinded, 2-Arm Efficacy Study of IP and Placebo in Patients With Chronic Pain Related to Osteoarthritis of the Knee

It is a Phase III efficacy study as the title 'A randomized, double-blind, parallel-arm study comparing the efficacy of investigational product "Ibuprofen Modified-Release Tablets 800 mg" and placebo in patients with chronic pain related to osteoarthritis of the knee.' The primary objective is to determine the analgesic efficacy of orally administered IBUMR in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. The Secondary objectives are to compare the treatment effect on patient pain, function and stiffness between IBUMR- and placebo-treated patients as measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), to compare the treatment effect on Patient Global Assessment on Disease Activity between IBUMR- and placebo-treated patients, to compare the treatment effect on Investigator's Global Assessment on Disease Activity between IBUMR- and placebo-treated patients, to compare the use of analgesic rescue medicine between IBUMR- and placebo-treated patients, to determine the safety profile of IBUMR.

Ketorolac in Upper Extremity Tendinopathy and Arthropathy

Osteoarthritis (OA) and inflammatory conditions of the tendons and joints of the shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist are common yet disabling diseases. Standard management utilizes conservative measures to minimize pain and improve function. Conservative pharmacological management commonly includes corticosteroid and ketorolac injections which have been well investigated as a modality of pain control and improved function in large joint OA. However, fewer studies yielding mixed results on the duration of symptomatic relief exist for arthropathy and tendinopathy of these joints. The goal of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of ketorolac and triamcinolone injections for common shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand tendinopathy or arthropathy. Participants will be blinded to the treatment received. The duration of an individual participant's participation in this study is 24 weeks. During this time period, patients will be asked to return to the clinic for an in-person follow-up 6 weeks after the injection with either ketorolac or triamcinolone) in order to assess participants' outcomes. All work related to this project will take place at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex, Emory Executive Park, Emory Musculoskeletal Institute, the Emory University Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital, and the Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. This study will add to existing knowledge by providing further insight into how wrist arthropathy should be most optimally and conservatively managed.

Cryoneurolysis for TKA - a Pilot Study

Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is also known as a knee replacement. It is one of the most common orthopaedic (bone) surgeries performed and is usually very successful, but some people who have had a knee replacement feel pain that lasts for at least 3 months after surgery and thus continue to take pain control/ analgesic (opioids) medication. Opiates are medications like morphine. Pain post-surgery can make it difficult to recover and return to daily activities. A better control of pain before the surgery, can help people feel less pain, recover faster, and use less opioids after surgery. Cryoneurolysis means freezing the nerves that can cause pain. It uses very low temperatures in a specific body part (e.g., nerves to the knee) to freeze the pain nerves and therefore reduce the pain. When applied before the surgery it might help with postoperative pain after knee replacement. This study will evaluate Iovera, a cryoneurolysis handheld device commercially available in Canada that delivers freezing cold to a target nerve by using nitrous oxide. Cryoneurolysis can relieve pain and symptoms associated with osteoarthritis of the knee for up to 90 days.

Knee Osteoarthritis Disabling Pain Program for the Brazilian Unified Health System

This is a Randomized Clinical Trial to compare two interventions for reducing knee pain and improving knee function of patients with knee osteoarthritis. Sixty participants will be randomly allocated to one of the intervention groups, either a knee educational program or a combination of knee educational program and medical interventions. Participants will be assessed primarily on function and pain, as well as other secondary outcomes at baseline, at the end of the interventions, and three months after the end of the interventions.

Delivery of Enhance Fitness Trial

Arthritis is a common condition in the United States, and a leading cause of pain and disability. Physical exercise is recommended for managing arthritis, but access to evidence-based exercise programs is limited, particularly in rural areas. Therefore, the investigators propose to evaluate remote delivery of an evidence-based exercise program called Enhance Fitness (EF) that is recommended for arthritis management. The primary purpose of this study is to determine if remotely delivered EF is non-inferior to in-person EF on primary and secondary outcomes.
