Filter by:Introduction; reception must be understood as the offered attention within the relationship between a healthcare worker and the patient, including attitudes of inclusion, hearing, valorization of complains and identification of needs, being these individual collective. As a part of this process, communication is a primary and indispensable toll through which the healthcare team and the patient interchange information. Objective: to evaluate the influence of perception of patients suffering of knee osteoarthritis over fear, catastrophizing of pain and effectiveness, related to intra-articular injection od corticosteroids. Material and method: it will be performed a prospective, controlled and randomized study eith a blind evaluator on patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis submitted to joint injection. A hundred patients suffering of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis coming from the outpatient area of Rheumatology Division of Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP) will be evaluated, 50 belonging to the intervention group (reception) and 50 to a control group.
This project is one of four components of a thematic project that aims to evaluate the use of ultrasound in regional and infiltration blocks, called "Use of ultrasound in regional blocks and infiltration for the treatment of acute and chronic pain". It aims to evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the knee pain control in patients with osteoarthritis after neurotomy by saphenous nerve radiofrequency guided by ultrasound , compared to neurotomy by radiofrequency of genicular nerves guided by fluoroscopy . Differences between total consumption of analgesics, side effects of medications , impact on quality of life and functional capacity in patients undergoing saphenous nerve neurotomy by radiofrequency guided by ultrasound compared to neurotomy by radiofrequency of genicular nerves guided by fluoroscopy, will also be evaluated.
The purpose of the study, therefore, is to conduct a prospective randomized controlled trial to investigate the blood-conservation effect of TXA in different TKA patients groups with rivaroxaban for VTE prophylaxis, first group by topical application, second group by infusion and a third group of placebo and observe whether there is difference in the occurrence of venous thromboembolism in those patient groups by venographic study
The knee prosthesis is a validated treatment for end-stage of knee osteoarthritis, and this intervention usually provides a significant improvement in the quality of life of patients. However, a significant percentage of patients (up to 30%) are disappointed with the outcome of the intervention. One hypothesis that could explain these poor results might be the poor positioning of implants. Individual cutting guides are produced after a CT scan response planning carried out according to the CT scan anatomy of each patient, and subsequently adapted to its real anatomy during surgery, thus theoretically better accuracy of the implementation over conventional techniques. It has been shown in the past that the navigation has been the gold standard in measuring the three-dimensional orientation of the implants during surgery, and this system is systematically used in the service for over 10 years.
Evaluation of the subchondral mineralization plate after excess weight loss in patientes undergoing bariatric operation by means of CT-osteoabsorptiometry.
This study seeks to find out if the tibial and patellar components of the Stryker Triathlon Tritanium primary total knee replacement achieve adequate fixation to the underlying bone.
3VM1001 is a topical cream that may be useful for the treatment of chronic osteoarthritis of the knee. This proof of concept study is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study to compare treatment with 3VM1001 cream to an inactive cream placebo. Subjects will self-treat for 30 days.
Previous study demonstrated that neuroinflammation induced by surgery is the main cause of the postoperative cognitive dysfunction. As an agonist of NMDA receptor, ketamine is proved to be an anti-inflammation agent. In present study investigators hypothesized that low dose ketamine would prevent the cognition decline after orthopedic surgery in aged patients.
Hypothesis: Intraarticular injections of isotonic Xylitol solution will improve pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA).
The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of balneotherapy in obese patients with knee osteoarthritis in terms of pain relief, improving joint function and deambulation, on endocrinological parameters, quality of life and of reduction the costs to "Servizio Sanitario Nazionale" (NHS).
