Filter by:The purpose of this study is to reveal the effectiveness and safety of integrative Korean medicine for Ossification of Posterior Longitudinal Ligament(OPLL) by observation inpatients treated with integrative Korean medicine. This study is a prospective observational study. The subjects for study are patients diagnosed with OPLL and who have been admitted to four Jaseng Hospital of Korean medicine (Gangnam, Bucheon, Daejeon, and Haeundae) for 2016.04.01-2019.12.31. Medical records of selected patients will be analyzed, and telephone surveys will be conducted for each patient. The survey questions are Numeric ratinc scale (NRS), Vernon-Mior Neck Disability Index (NDI), quality of life, and Patient Global Impression of Change (PGIC), etc.
The goal of this study is to explore the impact of two types of yoga-based body stretching (mild and intense) on dynamic changes of Systemic Inflammatory Cytokines (SICs) and Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators (SPMs) in yoga-naïve subjects.
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT) and conventional therapies (CT) on pain, balance and proprioceptive sensation of cervical region in patients with chronic neck pain. As a cross-over study, patients were divided into BBAT / CT (n=17) and CT / BBAT (n=18) groups. BBAT program has been implemented to patients within group BBAT / CT two days a week for 6 weeks while group CT / BBAT received the CT program during the same period. After the interval of 5-week, group BBAT / CT was treated with CT and group CT / BBAT was treated with BBAT. Pain severity with; Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), disability level with; Neck Disability Index (NDI), cervical proprioception with; Cervical Range of Motion Deluxe (CROM) device, balance with; Computerized Dynamic Posturography were evaluated. The evaluations were conducted before and after the first and second treatment.
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of manual therapy plus cervical stabilization exercise compared to manual therapy alone on balance, proprioception, and neck muscle morphology in chronic neck pain.
Dry needling (DN) is a treatment technique used for treating musculoskeletal pain conditions. DN has shown to be effective on pain and function in patients with mechanical neck pain. Potential effects of DN can be related to several mechanisms, including physical, cognitive and emotional factors. This study will evaluate the role of the patient expectances related to the evolution (progress) of the condition, in this case, mechanical neck pain, in the effects of real or sham dry needling in sensitivity outcomes such as pain intensity or pressure pain sensitivity. Expectation of each patient in both groups will be considered positive, neutral or negative based on the outcomes of the Patient Shoulder Expectancies (PSOE) questionnaire which was adapted to the cervical spine.
A longitudinal study is designed to assess the influence of acute non-specific neck pain on kinematic parameters during a fast-head axial rotation task standardized with the DidRen laser test device. First, the investigators will compare kinematic parameters between patients and healthy control. Second, the investigators will assess whether neck upper or lower pain location influenced kinematic parameters. Finally, the investigators will examine the short-term effect of passive cervical mobilizations in patients on these kinematic variables.
Restrictions on upper cervical spine are associated with cervical pain. The vast majority of upper cervical spine rotation occurs at the C1-2 segment. Flexion-rotation test is a valid measure that predominantly measures rotation in C1-2 segment, however upper cervical spine rotation also implies C0-1 and C2-3 due to ligament anatomy. Restriction in flexion-rotation may be due to direct restriction in C1-2, but also to a premature tightening of the alar ligament as a result of lack of movement in C0-1 or C2-3. The objective is to compare the effect of a 20-minutes single cervical exercise session with or without manual therapy of C0-1 and C2-3 segment in flexion-rotation test in patients with chronic neck pain and positive flexion-rotation test. To carry out the objective, the following will be designed a randomized controlled assessor-blind clinical trial with primary healthcare patients. This population will be patients with chronic neck pain and positive flexion-rotation test. These patients will be assigned in manual therapy + exercise group or in exercise group. Exercise will be focused on deep anterior cervical muscles. Manual therapy will combine techniques in C0-1 and C2-3 with this exercise. Flexion-rotation test, neck pain intensity, pain intensity during the flexion-rotation test and cervical range of motion will be measured before and after the intervention.
This study is a randomized, parallel, blinded, clinical trial of treatments. The general objective of this study is to analyze and compare the short-term results, during a 4-week follow-up, of two different treatments in patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain. The treatments to be applied are Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) and specific therapeutic exercise, applied during 8 treatment sessions in 4 weeks. These treatments will be applied by a physiotherapist with clinical experience in the treatment of cervical pain. During the study, 4 evaluations will be carried out to assess the effects of the interventions on pain, disability, standing postural control and neuromuscular behavior of the cervical muscles ((1) Baseline (pre-intervention); 2) Second pre-intervention (1 week later); 3) 1st post-intervention after four sessions (1+2 weeks later); 4) Final, 2nd post-intervention (1+4 weeks later))
The objective of the study is to detect the state of clinical and instrumental factors related in fighter pilots with non-specific mechanical neck pain.
To improve the safety of diagnosis and therapy for a set of conditions and undifferentiated symptoms for hospitalized patients, the investigators will employ a set of methods and tools from the disciplines of systems engineering, human factors, quality improvement,and data analytics to thoroughly analyze the problem, design and develop potential solutions that leverage existing current technological infrastructure, and implement and evaluate the final interventions. The investigators will engage the interdisciplinary care team and patient (or their caregivers) to ensure treatment trajectories match the anticipated course for working diagnoses (or symptoms), and whether they are in line with patient and clinician expectations. The investigators will use an Interrupted time series (ITS) design to assess impact on diagnostic errors that lead to patient harm. The investigators will perform quantitative and qualitative evaluations using implementation science principles to understand if the interventions worked, and why or why not.
