Filter by:Coffee is a worldwide drink, been part of any culture. There are some concerns about effects of coffee on the health. Recently, epidemiological studies have shown benefits of coffee drinking to diabetics and also to prevent diabetes in populations. We aim to understand some effects of coffee and not only caffeine over vascular system, in special coronary artery disease patients, diabetics end normal people.
The purpose of this study is in a phase I/II safety and efficacy study to evaluate the clinical effect of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) combined pedicled omentum wrapped autologous atrial tissue patch cardiomyoplasty for patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and long-term effectiveness of coronary stenting with the zotarolimus eluting stent (ZES) and to determine clinical device and procedural success during commercial use of ZES. The investigators will compare 2nd generation ZE (Endeavor resolute, active prospective arm) with 1st generation ZES (Endeavor Sprint, retrospective arm).
The presence of scar within heart muscle can act as a substrate for abnormal rhythm problems and lead to the developement of heart failure Clinical significance Correlation with biomarkers and genetic markers
The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare the value of 5 different non-invasive diagnostic methods in patients with chest pain suspected for coronary artery disease. The investigators intend to include 200 patients over a 3 year period in the study. The participants will be recruited from patients referred to coronary angiography at the institution. Before the angiography the participants will (1) test the effect of sublingual Nitroglycerin, (2) give their medical history so mathematical models can estimate the probability of the presence of coronary artery disease, (3) take part in a contrast stress echocardiography and (4) a 2D-strain stress echocardiography and a myocardial scintigraphy. Stenosis found at the angiography will be the gold standard.
In patients with chest pain and/or shortness of breath coronary artery disease (CAD) is suspected depending on the pattern of symptoms and the electrocardiogram (ECG). Coronary angiography is the method of choice to verify this suspicion. If the patient coronary arteries on coronary angiography are totally normal or unobstructed, one can only speculate if the patients' discomfort is from the heart or not. A possibility to get further information about the healthiness of the coronary arteries is the acetylcholine test (ACH-test). When injecting this natural, body produced-substance into the coronary arteries one can test if the vessels develop coronary spasm which can be the reason for the patient's symptoms. The investigators therefore use this test in this study to look for coronary spasm in patients with suspected CAD but normal/unobstructed coronary arteries. In case of a positive test, the patient profits from having found a cause for his/her symptoms making treatment with special tablets possible. Furthermore, the investigators want to analyze blood samples of every patient to look for signs of inflammation, vasoconstriction and genetic variants that seem to be linked with coronary spasms. On the basis of these results the ACH-test could probably be avoided in the future.
The aim of this prospective study is to investigate the prevalence of coronary artery disease using computed tomography with family history of premature coronary heart disease
The aim of this prospective study is to investigate the prevalence of endothelial dysfunction in subjects with family history of premature coronary heart disease. At the same time, the effect of atorvastatin in treating subclinical endothelial dysfunction in those patients will be evaluated.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment of true bifurcation lesions with the XIENCE V stent using the simple strategy (stent in main vessel and provisional T-stenting in the side branch) compared to the complex strategy (stent in main vessel and T-stenting in the side branch).
Patients presenting with ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) in the emergency department will be screened for clinical eligibility and asked to sign informed consent to the study. A total of 40 patients will be randomized. 20 of them will receive a Trapidil eluting stent (Intrepide™ stent), 20 will receive a Paclitaxel eluting stent (Taxus™ stent). After 90 days the patients who were treated with the INTREPIDE stent in the first lesion will be treated with the Taxus stent in the second lesion. After 90 days the patients who were treated with the Taxus stent in the first lesion will be treated with the INTREPIDE stent in the second lesion. Coronary angiography will be performed through the femoral (groin) or radial (wrist) artery with the use of standard techniques. The doctor will determine if the patient is qualified for enrolment at the end of the diagnostic coronary angiogram
