NCT ID: NCT06104254 Recruiting - Post Operative Pain Clinical Trials

Education Importance and Pain Belief Differences Among Patients Who Underwent Orthopedic Surgery

Start date: November 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The assessment of pain plays a crucial role in pain management. Nurses are instrumental in the identification, evaluation, and initiation of pain management strategies. In the literature, it is strongly recommended to provide education about postoperative pain management to patients, their families, and those responsible for patient care. Additionally, the development of a pain management plan and goals is advocated. The optimal timing, content, and objectives of patient education depend on the type of pain (acute or chronic), the availability and effectiveness of treatment, and the patient's level of education and literacy. Educating individuals undergoing elective surgery or outpatient treatment about the likelihood and magnitude of acute pain they may experience, as well as informing them about available methods to prevent or alleviate this pain, is critical for pain management. Shindo et al. conducted a study suggesting that perioperative pain education significantly reduces postoperative opioid use. According to the Health Belief Model, an individual's perception of health is influenced by their perception of the value of health, beliefs about illness, and beliefs about the consequences of illness. Therefore, when a patient's health beliefs and attitudes are determined, health education and treatment planning can be tailored more appropriately.

NCT ID: NCT06103058 Recruiting - Fibromyalgia Clinical Trials

The Prevalence of Fibromyalgia in Adults at Al-Karak Jordan a Cross-sectional Study

Start date: May 12, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Fibromyalgia is a chronic and intricate musculoskeletal disorder characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, and tenderness in specific anatomical regions. Although its prevalence varies among populations, understanding the prevalence in different geographical areas is crucial for healthcare planning. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the prevalence of fibromyalgia in adults residing in Al-Karak, Jordan. The city's unique demographic and environmental characteristics may influence the occurrence of fibromyalgia among its adult population. The study aims to address gaps in knowledge, provide localized insights, and shed light on fibromyalgia's burden on the community's health. Accurate prevalence data aids healthcare planning and resource allocation.

Strength Training for Osteoporosis Prevention During Early Menopause

STOP-EM
Start date: November 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical pilot trial is to learn about the feasibility of a high-intensity resistance training intervention in peri- and early menopausal females. The main question it aims to answer are: -Is a 9-month resistance training intervention feasible (e.g., recruitment rates, protocol adherence, attrition) Secondary aims include examining changes in bone health, muscle strength, and menopausal symptoms. Participants will participate in a 9-month progressive, supervised, resistance training intervention. Researchers will compare secondary outcomes between the exercise group and a wait-list control group.

NCT ID: NCT05944393 Recruiting - Scoliosis Clinical Trials

Erector Spine Plane (ESP) Block for Analgesia in Pediatric Scoliosis Surgery

Start date: September 8, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Postoperative pain after scoliosis correction surgery is severe and usually requires long-term intravenous opioid therapy. Local anesthetic options are limited and include intrathecal opioids and epidural analgesia. However, they are rarely used due to side effects and inconsistent efficacy. The investigators describe an opioid-sparing multimodal analgesia regimen with bilateral erector spinae plane blocks.

NCT ID: NCT05914922 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Musculoskeletal Diseases or Conditions

Wadey RCT MSK Short Case Simulations With FMED

Start date: July 2, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Study Agent/ Intervention/ Procedure The educational tool consisted of 20 short (MSK) case simulations of 15 minutes duration reflecting conditions of the upper extremity; lower extremity; spine; trauma and MSK infections were developed, reviewed and integrated into links that also contained demographic questionnaires; pre and post simulation knowledge questions and learner satisfaction surveys. Outcome Measures 1. Demographic questionnaire for the Learner; 2. 100 MCQ (multiple-choice questionnaire) reflecting the same questions contained in the 20 MSK Short Case Simulations 3. Pre/Post multiple choice question knowledge questionnaire 4. Learner satisfaction questionnaire 5. Patient experience and satisfaction questionnaire - QR Code 6. Educator evaluation questionnaire - QR Code 7. Focus group questionnaire Primary Objectives 1. To determine if learners working through the 20 MSK Short Case Simulations delivered through on-line links would improve their knowledge, skills and satisfaction in learning how to identify and initially manage patients with various MSK conditions when compared to learners not exposed to the same educational tool. 2. To determine patients' experience undergoing one of the 20 MSK assessments and initial management of their various MSK conditions by the learners and their satisfaction in receiving their initial care management in both groups 3. To determine if the assessment and initial management of the 20 MSK conditions by the learners on the patients was deemed to be competent by the educators in both groups

NCT ID: NCT05895032 Recruiting - Child, Only Clinical Trials

Trial of an Exercise Intervention for Children With Haemophilia

DOLPHIN-II
Start date: May 6, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

"Being able to participate in games and activities with their friends" is one of the things that matters most to boys with haemophilia. At present, there is a lack of robust evidence to determine whether muscle strengthening exercise can improve or negatively affect outcomes for young children with haemophilia. With the help of boys with haemophilia, their parents and physiotherapists the investigators have developed an exercise programme designed to increase muscle strength. Using this intervention the investigators will undertake a single-blinded, two-arm pragmatic randomised controlled trial (RCT) of a 12-week intervention verses usual care of boys with haemophilia aged 6-12 years of age.

NCT ID: NCT05890300 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders

Effectiveness of an Occupational Passive Back-exoskeletons on the Biomechanical Load of Warehouse Workers.

EXO4MMH
Start date: September 20, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) is a common issue within logistics manual materials handling which is associated with the high physical demands of the workers. Especially back injuries are highly represented among manual workers in logistics. Occupational exoskeletons are seen as a solution to this issue, as it has shown to reduce the muscle activity during several manual handling tasks within manufacturing, construction work, mechanics, and logistics. However, there is a major gap in scientific literature on studies investigating in-field effects of exoskeleton-use on longer terms, which means that we in general have very little knowledge on the pros and cons of implementing exoskeletons in the product-line of logistics. Consequently, our current understanding of how a back-supporting occupational exoskeleton can benefit the manual workers of a logistics company is limited. The purpose of this study is to investigate (i) the long-term effects of a passive back-exoskeleton during manual materials handling on the biomechanics of the user, (ii) the changes in comfort, well-being and productivity pre and post to implementation of passive back-exoskeleton. It is hypothesized that exoskeleton-use will maintain a reduction in muscle activity of the manual workers and increase their overall well-being without affecting their productivity.
