Filter by:The primary objective of the study is to determine in adult patients with a rotator cuff tear, what size and pattern of rotator cuff tear would result in damage to the suprascapular nerve. The secondary objectives are 1. To determine if an injured suprascapular nerve can recover if the rotator cuff tear is surgically repaired. 2. To determine if there is a limit of retraction before the suprascapular nerve is irreversibly damaged. 3. To determine factors that are protective against SSN injury. 4. Can the patient data gathered be used to optimise operative procedures.
This study will compare patient reported outcomes (PROs) and patient satisfaction scores of patients seen at virtual phone visits with patients seen at in-person visits for post-operative follow up at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and 6 months at a sports medicine clinic. This study will determine if there is a difference in PROs and satisfaction scores between these two groups of patients. The investigators hypothesize patients who are seen during a virtual phone visit will report different PRO and patient satisfaction scores compared to patients who are seen during an in-person visit for post-operative follow-up at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and 6-months.
This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the 12-week ergonomic intervention developed by Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model in improving musculoskeletal discomfort and muscle strength for hemodialysis nurses. The maintenance effects of the intervention were also evaluated after another 12-week follow-up.
The goal of this clinical pilot trial is to learn about the feasibility of a high-intensity resistance training intervention in peri- and early menopausal females. The main question it aims to answer are: -Is a 9-month resistance training intervention feasible (e.g., recruitment rates, protocol adherence, attrition) Secondary aims include examining changes in bone health, muscle strength, and menopausal symptoms. Participants will participate in a 9-month progressive, supervised, resistance training intervention. Researchers will compare secondary outcomes between the exercise group and a wait-list control group.
This study will investigate whether 3D printing of orthoses (night splints and AFO/KAFO for walking, further named as dynamic AFO/KAFO) for the lower limbs can help to improve the limited accessibility to orthopaedic devices in developing countries. The 3D printed orthoses will be assessed for effectiveness, cost and feasibility. Measurement and manufacture of the orthoses is also supported remotely via video conferencing.
Postoperative pain after scoliosis correction surgery is severe and usually requires long-term intravenous opioid therapy. Local anesthetic options are limited and include intrathecal opioids and epidural analgesia. However, they are rarely used due to side effects and inconsistent efficacy. The investigators describe an opioid-sparing multimodal analgesia regimen with bilateral erector spinae plane blocks.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of using double gloves on perforation in orthopedic surgery. Materials and Method: The randomized controlled experimental study was conducted between 30.11.2021 and 31.03.2022 in the Orthopedics and Traumatology operating room of a university hospital in western Turkey. The gloves used in the surgery were randomly divided into two groups (intervention: double glove group = 780 gloves, control: single glove group = 390). The presence of holes was checked by performing a water tightness test with the EN455-1 method on all gloves collected after the surgery by the researcher. Data were evaluated with descriptive statistics, Chi-square Test, Fisher Exact Test, and linear model regression analysis (GLM for the Binomial Family Regression). Statistical significance was accepted as 0.05.
Evaluate the evolution of locomotor abilities in patients treated with functional electrostimulation and biofeedback (PHENIX LIBERTY VIVALTIS device) for musculoskeletal disorders of the knee and spine. Does the use of the medical device in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders lead to an improvement ? Participants will use the medical device, which provides electrical stimulation, biofeedback and pressure biofeedback to re-educate the muscles of the knee and spine area and
Study Agent/ Intervention/ Procedure The educational tool consisted of 20 short (MSK) case simulations of 15 minutes duration reflecting conditions of the upper extremity; lower extremity; spine; trauma and MSK infections were developed, reviewed and integrated into links that also contained demographic questionnaires; pre and post simulation knowledge questions and learner satisfaction surveys. Outcome Measures 1. Demographic questionnaire for the Learner; 2. 100 MCQ (multiple-choice questionnaire) reflecting the same questions contained in the 20 MSK Short Case Simulations 3. Pre/Post multiple choice question knowledge questionnaire 4. Learner satisfaction questionnaire 5. Patient experience and satisfaction questionnaire - QR Code 6. Educator evaluation questionnaire - QR Code 7. Focus group questionnaire Primary Objectives 1. To determine if learners working through the 20 MSK Short Case Simulations delivered through on-line links would improve their knowledge, skills and satisfaction in learning how to identify and initially manage patients with various MSK conditions when compared to learners not exposed to the same educational tool. 2. To determine patients' experience undergoing one of the 20 MSK assessments and initial management of their various MSK conditions by the learners and their satisfaction in receiving their initial care management in both groups 3. To determine if the assessment and initial management of the 20 MSK conditions by the learners on the patients was deemed to be competent by the educators in both groups
To determine the effect of postural correction exercise in universities students regarding cervical sagittal posture, head flexion angle in forward head posture.
