Progressive Goal Attainment Program for Veterans

PGAP for Vets
Start date: February 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) in improving employment outcomes and community engagement among U.S. veterans with disabilities.

NCT ID: NCT01565213 Completed - Anxiety Disorders Clinical Trials

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of CBT and MMI on the quality of life and relief of psychological symptoms of patients with common mental disorders or problems attending primary health care centre.

NCT ID: NCT01565174 Not yet recruiting - Psychosis Clinical Trials

The Pharmaco-genetic and Brain Mechanisms Associated With Cannabis- Induced Psychosis

Start date: October 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

There is growing evidence of high rates of substance use disorders among individuals with psychotic disorders especially in young people with predisposition for psychosis. There is some genetic evidence that carriers of the valine158 allele of the catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) gene had increased risk to exhibit psychotic symptoms and to develop schizophrenia if they used cannabis by the age of 18. It was also shown that carriers of the COMT val/val genotype were most sensitive to THC-induced psychotic experiences but this was conditional on pre-existing susceptibility to psychosis. The investigators propose to use brain-imaging and molecular genetics to investigate whether genetic factors may contribute to the THC-induced dopamine release and possibly to cannabis- induced psychosis.

NCT ID: NCT01563003 Completed - Autism Clinical Trials

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety Disorders in Adolescents With Autism

Start date: June 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Due to the considerable prevalence of anxiety in youth with autism spectrum disorders, this study seeks to establish the efficacy of a modified cognitive behavioral therapy protocol in 50 adolescents versus other available treatment options.

NCT ID: NCT01554527 Completed - Clinical trials for Sleep Apnea, Obstructive

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) After Adenotonsillectomy in Children

Start date: March 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Obstructive sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) affects 2-3% of children and may lead to problems with nighttime sleep and daytime behavior, learning, sleepiness, and mood. Adenotonsillectomy (AT) is the second most common surgical procedure in children. It is now performed more often for suspected SDB than for any other indication. However, recent studies indicate that many if not most children still have SDB after AT, and many still have learning or behavioral problems associated with SDB. The goals of this study are: (1) to assess the extent that behavior, cognition, and sleepiness in children can improve with Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment after AT, and (2) to identify which patients stand to gain most from post-operative assessment and treatment.

NCT ID: NCT01547481 Completed - Clinical trials for REM Sleep Behavior Disorder

MRI Study of Brain Activity in Healthy Adults and Individuals With Parkinsonism and Rapid Eye Movement Disorder.

Start date: December 2011
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This proposal is focused on developing a reliable, valid, and reproducible imaging techniques and statistical methodology for segregation of various forms of Parkinsonism from healthy adults without Parkinsonism.

NCT ID: NCT01546467 Recruiting - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

Cognitive Remediation in Early Phase Psychosis

Start date: September 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of a 30 hour cognitive remediation program for young patients with early phase schizophrenia spectrum disorders on cognitive, clinical and functional outcome measures. The remediation program is integrated with whatever active rehabilitation the participant is currently attending (school, work, day program etc).

NCT ID: NCT01542229 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

PTSD (PostTraumatic Stress Disorder) Services for Veterans With SMI (Severe Mental Illness)

PTSD/SMI
Start date: May 3, 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

As in the general population, there is no clear standard of care within Veterans Affairs Medical Centers for treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among individuals with severe mental illness (SMI). This is a considerable issue because trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and severe psychiatric comorbidity are particularly common among Veterans and this symptom presentation clearly exacerbates the overall course and severity of mental illness. This study is significant in that it proposes to establish the efficacy of a frontline exposure based intervention for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Prolonged Exposure, for improving critical clinical, quality of life, and cost outcomes among Veterans with severe mental illness (SMI) enrolled in VA healthcare. Collectively, it is anticipated that these data will establish a much needed clinical course of action for what is considered a vulnerable yet highly underserved patient population.

NCT ID: NCT01536210 Completed - Mental Disorders Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety Study of Combination of Ginkgo Extract and Ginseng Extract in Children With ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

ADHD
Start date: December 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate clinical efficacy and safety of treatment with YY-162 in children with ADHD.

NCT ID: NCT01527227 Recruiting - Mental Illness Clinical Trials

Parentification Among Children Whose Parents Cope With a Serious Mental Illness

Start date: January 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The research will examine effects of personal, familial, societal and intergenerational characteristics on parentification, the effects of parentification on the quality of life of the child and what encourages a better quality of life. This research will include 130 children between the ages of 10-18 who live with at least one parent who struggles with serious mental illness in a comparison to 130 children of the same socio-demographic characteristics raised by parents from a non-clinical population. The differences between these two populations with regard to parentification, quality of life, social support and fairness will also be examined. The parents and the children will fill out questionnaires. The research group will be recruited from rehabilitation services, mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals and social welfare departments with sampling method. The comparison group will be recruited from schools. This research broadens the knowledge of the causes and the repercussions of parentification among children of parents who struggles with serious mental illness in comparison with children raised by parents from a non-clinical population. Few studies have examined children of the mentally ill in Israel, and there are none which examined parentification.
