Filter by:This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of the motivational interviewing technique applied to menopausal women on their participation in breast and cervical cancer screenings. This is a randomized controlled intervention study in which the study sample will consist of 120 menopausal women, who visit the health care centers in the city of Kutahya. There will be one intervention group with a total of 60 participants and a control group with the same number of participants. The intervention group will have motivational interviews whereas the control group participants will follow the normal protocols.
Objective: This study was conducted as a cross-sectional descriptive study in order to determine the effect of menopause on the SFs and marital adjustment of the spouses.
The study examines the saliva and dental plaque microbiome of women aged 35-65 in two groups: postmenopausal (case) and premenopausal (control). For this purpose, Illumina Platform to sequence 16S rRNA gene regions will be used. The data will be analyzed using the QIIME2 bioinformatics tool. Serum estradiol levels will be determined by the ELISA method. The investigators will examine the relationship between microbiome data (alpha diversity, beta diversity, and relative abundance) and menopausal status, estradiol levels, and periodontal health status using linear statistical models. Clinical samples of the study will be collected at Ege University, and the laboratory studies and sequence analysis will be conducted at the Forsyth Institute in Boston. To obtain longitudinal data besides the cross-sectional data, the investigators will contact the participants of a previous study from 2019, whose saliva, dental plaque, and serum samples are currently being stored at -80 °C, and ask them to participate for a second sampling.
This Phase II proof of concept study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of FP-101 (60mg b.i.d.), an extended-release oral tablet product, compared to a matching placebo in the treatment of moderate-to-severe hot flashes in peri- and post-menopausal women over a period of 1-week.

As part of a National Institute on Aging -funded R01, the investigators developed an evidence-based, multi-media digital resource entitled MyMenoPlan to help women learn about the menopause transition, and the symptoms and treatments of perimenopause/menopause. MyMenoPlan is also designed to help women learn about the effectiveness of treatments for a comprehensive list of midlife symptoms and compare treatments that may help with the specific symptoms women are experiencing.
This study aimed at determining the short- (16 weeks) and long-term (36 weeks) health and physical fitness effects and adherence of recreational team handball training for postmenopausal women without previous experience with the sport. The investigators hypothesized that short-term recreational team handball training would result in positive health and physical fitness adaptations and that the health and physical fitness improvements achieved after the first 16 weeks would be maintained or further improved at the long-term. Moreover, the investigators also hypothesized that the adherence to this exercise mode would be maintained throughout the 36 weeks (long-term) compared to the first 16 weeks (short-term).
The overall objective of this study is to examine the physiological responses that occur during a hot flush in postmenopausal women. The following specific aims will be executed to reach the overall objective of this study. Aim 1: To determine if hot flushes can be reliably induced with a temperature-controlled, water- circulating (TCWC) heating pad. Based on previous research, the investigators hypothesize that hot flushes will be inducible with the TCWC in symptomatic women, but not in asymptomatic women. Aim 2: To determine if heat-induced hot flushes in symptomatic women will cause reproducible cardiovascular and respiratory responses. The investigators hypothesize that heat-induced hot flushes produce similar and reproducible cardiovascular and respiratory responses to spontaneous hot flushes. Aim 3: To determine if body fat percentage influences hot flush severity or frequency during spontaneous or induced hot flushes. The investigators hypothesize that women with higher body fat have reduced hot flash severity and frequency.
The overall objective of this project is to bring forth evidence that L-Citrulline (L-CIT) supplementation and low intensity resistance exercise training (LIRET) alone and combined will improve vascular function and muscle fitness (mass, strength, and exercise performance) in postmenopausal women with hypertension. The investigators' central hypothesis is that adjuvant L-CIT supplementation may synergistically enhance vascular (arterial stiffness, BP, muscle oxygenation, blood flow) and muscular (strength, exercise performance) responses to LIRET in postmenopausal women with hypertension by improving endothelial vasodilatory function.
Women who experience hot flashes are at greater risk for hypertension and other cardiovascular disease. Neurovascular control mechanisms are likely to play an important role in this relationship. As such, these studies are designed to provide a major step forward in understanding the link between hot flashes and neurovascular dysfunction and, by extension, cardiovascular disease in women.
