NCT ID: NCT05760573 Enrolling by invitation - Health Behavior Clinical Trials

The Ready and Healthy for Kindergarten Study

Start date: April 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test whether a family wellness program enhances child and parenting outcomes among Latino dual language learners entering Kindergarten and their families. The main questions are: (1) To what extent does the family wellness program enhance home health and learning routines, and (2) To what extent does the family wellness program enhance child literacy, language, and social-emotional outcomes. All participants will be asked to complete surveys and assessments. Researchers will compare two groups: (1) Family wellness program that includes (a) 8-weekly summer sessions, (b) text messages, (c) booster sessions, and (2) usual care plus school supplies and list of resources to see if the family wellness program enhances child and parenting outcomes.

NCT ID: NCT05654116 Recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Testing the Effects of the Caregiver Interaction Profile Training on the Interactive Skills of Daycare Providers

CDP
Start date: August 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the Caregiver Interaction Profile (CIP) training program (Helmerhorst et al., 2017) promoting the relational quality between professional caregivers and children in daycare. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does the CIP training program, compared to no training, improve the relational quality between daycare providers and children in daycare? - Does the CIP training program, compared to no training, foster children's social, emotional, and language development? Daycare providers assigned to the "training group" will participate in the CIP training program, which uses video-recorded interactions between the daycare providers and children in daycare to give feedback on the relational quality as observed in the videos. Daycare providers assigned to the "waiting list control group" will initially not take part in the training program but will receive the training after the study is finished. All daycare providers' daily interactions with the children in daycare will be filmed before and after the training in order to see if there has been a change in relational quality for the daycare providers in the training group (compared to the control group). Daycare providers in the training and control groups will also fill out questionnaires about the social, emotional, and language development of the children in their care. Researchers will compare daycare providers (and the children in their care) in the "training group" to daycare providers (and the children in their care) in the "control group" to see if the relational quality in the training group improves more than that in the control group as a result of the CIP training, and how that impacts the social, emotional, and language development of children.

HR-EEG Contribution in Prognostic Evaluation of Language Development in Children With ASD

EE-TSA-LANG
Start date: January 2, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this prospective observational multicentric cohort study is to evaluate the clinical prognostic value of the speech tracking score of language development in children with ASD aged from 3 years to 4 years and half at inclusion. Participants will followed during 4 years with an annual visit. During these visits, each participant will be clinically evaluated (scales and tests) and performed an EEG-HR recording. Two groups will be formed, one with children diagnosed with ASD with language delay, and a control group composed of non-ASD children without language delay, matched on age and gender with the ASD group.

Testing an App-Based Approach to Reading and Screen Time Guidance for Parents of Infants

Start date: June 30, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that parents read to their children as often as possible beginning in infancy and limits on screen time at all ages, yet many families question the value of reading to infants and are uncertain how to do so, and screen time is rising. This proposal is highly relevant to public health in that it involves a "how-to" approach to reading with infants and limiting screen time that is delivered during pediatric well-child visits within an established program (Reach Out and Read) using innovative materials: specially designed children's books and animated educational videos featured in a new mobile app (Reading Bees). It addresses important research gaps, compliments existing programs and empowers families, particularly from underserved backgrounds, to read more interactively and enjoyably with their babies, limit screen time, and improve early literacy skills, relationships and health outcomes.

Retrieval-Based Word Learning in Developmental Language Disorder

Start date: March 16, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Children with developmental language disorder (DLD; also referred to as specific language impairment) experience a significant deficit in language ability that is longstanding and harmful to the children's academic, social, and eventual economic wellbeing. Word learning is one of the principal weaknesses in these children. This project focuses on the word learning abilities of four- and five-year-old children with DLD. The goal of the project is to build on our previous work to determine whether, as we have found thus far, special benefits accrue when these children must frequently recall newly introduced words during the course of learning. In this first of a series of studies, we seek to increase the children's absolute levels of learning while maintaining the advantage that repeated retrieval holds over comparison methods of learning.

NCT ID: NCT04978766 Completed - Clinical trials for Language Development

Promoting Early Language Development Through Parent-child Book Reading in Costa Rica
