Online Physical Activity and Ergonomics Training in Physiotherapy Students Receiving Distance Education

The pandemic process has caused very important changes and effects in the economy, social life and education practices, especially health at global level. Within the scope of the measures taken, with the closure of educational institutions and interruption of face-to-face education, the education of 1.6 billion students, which corresponds to approximately half of the student population from all educational levels, has been interrupted. The need and approach to open and distance learning has come to the fore with significant changes and effects on education worldwide. Pandemic measures, the transition to distance education and the increase in computer usage caused an increase in ergonomic risks in students. Due to the pandemic process, it has been reported that the physical activity level of students decreases and the sitting period is prolonged. In this study, physiotherapy students who receive distance education will be given online ergonomics and physical activity training and the results will be evaluated.

A Neuropsychological Test Battery for the Assessment of Time Deficits

Time processing involves different abilities - i.e. estimating the duration of an event and moving in past and future time - and it is a fundamental ability in everyday life. For these reasons the assessment and the rehabilitation of time deficits in brain damaged patients is extremely important. The ability to estimate and reproduce time processing is usually evaluated using computerized tasks and it is influenced by aging: young participants overestimate and elderly participants underestimate time durations. Virtual Reality is an ecological approach that has recently been used for the assessment of cognitive deficits. Here we use Virtual Reality to study the ability to estimate time duration of an action execution and perception in a simulated everyday activity.

This research study examines the unique cultural and gender-based factors that influence how midlife Black women experience stress and incorporate healthy lifestyle behaviors into daily life. The B-SWELL intervention uses stress reduction and goal setting to increase self efficacy in adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors. The B-SWELL intervention will be compared to an inattention control wellness group in a randomized control trial. The long-term outcome is to decrease cardiovascular disease risk in this high-risk population, midlife Black women.

The COVID-19 Pandemic and Exercise Study

The COPE Trial is a randomized controlled trial that will provide currently isolated yet generally physically healthy 18-64 year old adults who are pre-retirement with the opportunity to receive a free 3-month subscription to either a yoga or moderate-to-high intensity aerobic exercise app or be randomized to a waitlist control group. Study outcomes include measures of psychological wellbeing and physical health.
