Trial of an Inactivated Yellow Fever Virus Vaccine

This trial will be a randomized, placebo controlled, double-blind (within dosing group), dose escalation Phase 1 trial, evaluating dosages of 1 mcg and 5 mcg of HydroVax-002 YFV vaccine given intramuscularly on Day 1 and Day 29 in up to 25 healthy adults healthy adults ≥ 18 and < 50 years of age. The primary objective is to assess the safety, reactogenicity, and tolerability of the HydroVax-002 YFV vaccine administered intramuscularly in a two-dose series on Days 1 and 29 at a dose of 1 mcg or a dose of 5 mcg.

BHSAI is developing a computational system that provides early alerts of a rise and fall in core body temperature to help reduce the risk of thermal injury in the field and during training. The goal of the body temperature alerting system is to use it during rest, exercise in the heat and cold. Therefore, the primary purpose of this investigation is to validate a body temperature alerting system using physiological responses that occur during rest, exercise in the heat and cold. Multiple cold ambient temperatures will be validated.

These departments collaborated and operated since 2002 and since 2019 is Brno one of the of centre of EMHG (www.emhg.org). Aim of this study was to describe the Czech and Slovak (CZ-SK) cohort of MHS patients, the biggest Slavonic MHS cohort known by now, and to fill the knowledge gap about the Slavonic population in perspective of MH.

The risks of postpartum hemorrhage, prematurity and low birth weight are increased in dengue fever. Cases of vertical transmission have been described. This study therefore proposes to quantify these risks in a pregnant woman presenting a clinical picture of dengue fever through a prospective, longitudinal and comparative study.

Febrile seizure (FS) is a common neurological condition in children, affecting 2 - 14% of children. FS is defined as seizures occurring in a child aged from six months to five years that is accompanied by a fever (≥38°C) without central nervous system infection. FS is classified into simple febrile seizure (SFS) and complex febrile seizure (CFS). SFS accounts for 70-75% of FS cases and is characterized by being generalized, duration of less than 15 minutes, occurs once in 24 hours, and no previous neurologic problems. We aim to investigate serum levels of adipocytokines, specifically leptin, adiponectin, and IL-6, in children with FS.

Efficacy of Antibiotic Short Course for Bloodstream Infections in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Patients With Febrile Neutropenia

There is no specific recommendation about antimicrobial treatment length for documented infections in chemotherapy induced febrile neutropenia. The aim of this study was to compare long versus short antibiotic course for bloodstream infection treatment in acute myeloid leukemia patients during febrile neutropenia. This monocentric retrospective comparative study included all consecutive bloodstream infection episodes among acute myeloid leukemia patients with febrile neutropenia for 3 years (2017-2019). Episodes were classified regarding the length of antibiotic treatment, considered as short course if the treatment lasted ≤7 days, except for nonfermenting bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus or lugdunensis for which the threshold was ≤10 days and ≤14 days, respectively. The primary outcome was the number of bloodstream infection relapses in both groups within 30 days of antibiotic discontinuation.

This exploratory, prospective, controlled, multisite, open label, randomized clinical trial with two treatment arms aims to compare favipiravir, a new treatment candidate for Lassa fever (LF), with the current standard of care, ribavirin. The primary endpoints of this research are (1) the description of classical pharmacokinetic parameters of favipiravir in comparison with ribavirin standard treatment in patients suffering from LF and (2) the safety and tolerability of both study drugs in the investigated regimens.
