Treatment Efficacy of Local Anesthetic/Steroid Mixture Injection for Patients With Odynophonia

This is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. A total of 40 subjects will be randomized to experimental group (receiving bupivacaine/triamcinolone mixture) or control group (receiving saline injection). Two injections will be given one week apart. The primary outcome measure is the reduction in pain on the abbreviated McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ).

Anxiety disorders are prominent mental health burdens, affecting roughly 1 in 5 adults annually, and a third of individuals over the course of their life. These disorders are also impairing to individuals, with 23% of individuals with anxiety disorders describing their impairment as serious. Given the public health impact, it is crucial that interventions are designed to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, through reducing risk factors that predispose individuals to develop anxiety. One approach to do this is to develop brief interventions that could be administered virtually, which can then be supplemented using ecological momentary intervention (EMI) to reduce risk factors for anxiety disorders. In contrast to targeting more distant risk factors, targeting more direct risk factors, such as intolerance of uncertainty, could be used in the prevention and treatment of anxiety disorders.

Development of a Model for Shared Care in the Interface Between General Practice and Mental Health Care

Recent research has underlined that mental health of people with depression and anxiety has deteriorated over the last decades in Denmark as well as internationally, and has reached a degree where it is perceived as a global health challenge. By now, depression is the most common reason for early retirement on health grounds in Denmark. Early intervention in relation to patients with depression and anxiety is essential, as research further shows that many young people with mental health difficulties drop out of education and work. The overall purpose is to develop a shared care intervention in co-production with users, and to increase their recovery by strengthening the support and treatment using a newly developed shared care model. The study is designed as a non-randomized intervention study with a control group. Comparative analyzes will be performed with pre- and post-assessments. Patients will be recruited between August 2022 and February 2023. The patients are referred to outpatient clinics based on their home address. The two outpatient clinics should be comparable in terms of patients' diagnoses and staffing. ward. Mental health status and well-being are the primary outcomes. Self-reported questionnaires will be administered to both groups before and after the intervention. The study will be approved by the Research Ethical Committee of University of Southern Denmark and Region Zealand. The study findings will be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences.

The study aims at evaluating the feasibility and the efficacy of the Teen On-line Problem Solving program (TOPS) in improving executive functioning and behavior problems in adolescents with neurological condition aged 11-19 years. In order to control for placebo effects, participants are randomized into two intervention conditions. Group 1 performs the regular version of the TOPS, while Group 2 performs a modified version containing no activities on executive functions, behavioral strategies and social skills.

The objective of this feasibility study is to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and potential usefulness of the investigational device, a mobile software application (app) (OC Free) for treatment of OCD (contamination obsession only), adjunctive to individuals receiving outpatient ERP therapy. OC Free is an iOS/Android app that provides treatment via computerized exposure and response prevention (ERP). The study will evaluate preliminary safety and effectiveness of the app using gold-standard, validated 'clinician-administered' and 'self-reporting measures.'

Usability Testing for the Reward-based Technology to Improve OUD Treatment

Millions of people in the US misuse opioids each year, leading to thousands of deaths and costing billions of dollars in total economic burden. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) is highly efficacious, but only a fraction of OUD persons access MAT, and treatment non-adherence is common and associated with poor outcomes. This STTR Fast Track proposal is designed to increase rates of Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) treatment initiation and adherence among OUD patients recruited from emergency and inpatient acute care. To accomplish these aims, the project will enhance the Opioid Addiction Recovery Support (OARS), an existing Q2i company technology, with a new evidence-based reward, contingency management (CM) function. CM interventions systematically reward (reinforce) specific behaviors like treatment initiation and adherence with therapy attendance and drug-free urine tests and are highly efficacious. An OARS solution enhanced with a CM component (OARSCM) that allows for the automatic calculation, delivery, and redemption of rewards contingent on objective evidence of treatment behaviors may be key to improving Suboxone initiation and adherence. In Phase 1 of this proposal, the existing OARS clinician portal and patient mobile application will be modified to accommodate entry into the software system from an acute care setting and to automatically manage and deliver rewards to create OARSCM using patient-centered design principles. Focus groups with OUD patients and other key stakeholders will inform design. Primary usability outcomes will be examined, and the program iteratively updated. After meeting milestones, there was a proof-of-concept pilot of usability, acceptability, and effects on initial behavior targets with approximately 20 patients and at least 4 providers.

All patients with heart disease should have the opportunity to participate in research into their condition, to advance knowledge and treatment. The investigators have built an online registry and database - The Heart Hive - to connect research-willing participants (with heart muscle disease) with active researchers and projects. Participants enrol and upload their own data through the website.This study uses The Heart Hive platform to study cardiomyopathies - heart muscle disease. These are progressive diseases, and there is a need to better understand what factors affect the chances of developing cardiomyopathy, and how the condition progresses. The study will collect information about participants diagnosis, DNA for genetic analysis, and then follow participants' clinical progress. The study will identify genetic variants that cause cardiomyopathy, and determine which specific genetic or environmental factors predict disease severity, progression and response to treatment, with an overall objective of identifying new and personalised treatments for patients with this disease.
