The goal of this clinical study is to assess the api-api mangrove sword bean food bar effect on the older people's weight affected by a landslide The main questions aimed to answer are: - Can api-api mangrove sword bean food bar improve the weight of older people affected by landslide? - Can balanced nutrition education increase the older peoples' knowledge? Participants divided in the two groups i.e.: - Treatment group received 50 g mangrove sword bean food bar each day during 15 days. - Control group received 50 g sword bean food bar each day during 15 days. - Both groups obtained balanced nutrition of older people education once at the first week of study.

Disaster Preparedness of Older People

Disasters; It is an important public health problem of uncertain time, causing loss of life and property, having severe economic consequences, and causing serious health problems in the long term. In dealing with disasters, it is expected that measures to reduce the damage and losses caused by the hazards that the disaster may cause are taken during the disaster preparedness phase. For this reason, the individuals in the society should be educated before the disaster and their preparedness for the disaster should be ensured. While it is possible for young age groups to access information, participate in public education and self-learning, they need support for their preparedness for disasters because there is no disaster education program specific to older individuals. This project was designed as a single-blind (participant) randomized controlled study in order to examine the effect of the Disaster Preparedness Education Program (SIMAH) based on the Health Belief Model of older people in the society on their preparedness to disasters according to the active control group to which the public education materials prepared by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) will be given. The research was planned to be carried out in a total of six clusters in Antalya province Muratpaşa district and Konyaaltı district between October and December 2023 in older people houses, retirement cafes and district parks where older people are concentrated. The sample size was calculated as 66 older individuals (intervention: 33, control: 33). The SIMAH Program, which includes interactive group training for three months, public education materials prepared by AFAD, and reminder phone messages, will be applied to the initiative group. Public education materials prepared by AFAD will be given to the active control group in the same period. Outcomes will be measured with the Disaster Readiness Scale, the General Disaster Preparedness Belief Scale, and the Individual Disaster Preparedness Evaluation Form, before the intervention, after the training program, and three months later.

Korean Translation and Validation of the K- HEPI by a Phase 1 Feasibility Study in NYC

Nurses Taking on Readiness Measures (N-TORM) is an innovative nurse-driven household emergency preparedness intervention modeled after an existing community intervention provided by emergency management personnel. The proposed pilot studies will test the Korean translation of the Household Emergency Preparedness Instrument (K-HEPI) and describe the implementation and effectiveness of N-TORM in a community setting. The aims of this instrument translation study and cluster randomized controlled trial are to (a) field and pilot test the K-HEPI in order to perform psychometric testing on the instrument and generate reliability and validity data, (b) increase the accessibility of N-TORM to vulnerable populations, (c) evaluate the effectiveness of N-TORM to increase household emergency preparedness knowledge and behavior, (d) implement N-TORM in a community located in an area at increased risk for disasters, measuring consistency of delivery, time, and cost of N-TORM, and (e) describe the factors most necessary to maintain and expand N-TORM.

Community Resilience Learning Collaborative and Research Network

C-LEARN

C-LEARN is designed to determine how to build service program and individual client capacity to improve mental health-related quality of life among individuals at risk for depression, with exposure to social risk factors or concerns about environmental hazards in areas of Southern Louisiana at risk for events such as hurricanes and storms. The study uses a Community Partnered Participatory Research (CPPR) framework to incorporate community priorities into study design and implementation. The first phase of C-LEARN is assessment of community priorities, assets, and opportunities for building resilience through key informant interviews and community agency outreach. Findings from this phase will inform the implementation of a two-level (program-level and individual client level) randomized study in up to six South Louisiana communities. Within communities, health and social-community service programs will be randomized to Community Engagement and Planning (CEP) for multi-sector coalition support or Technical Assistance (TA) for individual program support to implement evidence-based and community-prioritized intervention toolkits, including an expanded version of depression collaborative care and resources (referrals, manuals) to address social risk factors such as financial or housing instability and for a community resilience approach to disaster preparedness and response. Within each arm, the study will randomize individual adult clients to one of two mobile applications that provide informational resources on services for depression, social risk factors, and disaster response or also provide psychoeducation on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to enhance coping with stress and mood. Planned data collection includes baseline, 6-month and brief monthly surveys for clients, and baseline and 12-month surveys for administrators and staff. Due to COVID-19 pandemic interruption of the study, the recruitment into the randomized controlled trials was halted. A third study part was added to assess the impact of the pandemic on participating study agencies and the community.

Feasibility and Efficacy of a Digital Mental Health Intervention for Teen Wildfire Survivors

In October, 2017, Northern California experienced devastating and historic wildfires. Sonoma Rises is an app designed for anyone who was impacted by this event and is intended to help survivors of disaster find their new normal. This study will assess the feasibility and efficacy of a self-help post-disaster mental health intervention delivered via a mobile app with a sample of teens who are experiencing post-disaster mental health symptoms.
