Filter by:The goal of this study is to compare the impact of a SMART ((specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, or timely) Goal setting protocol on body weight, metabolic parameters (Hemoglobin A1c, lipids), diet quality and physical activity frequency in obese children with prediabetes in the outpatient setting. The main question is if participants using the SMART Goal Setting Protocol (SGSP) will have a significant reduction. The participants randomized to the study group will receive the SGSP, consisting of the SMART Goal Selection Guide (SGSG) and Weekly Goal Monitoring Tool (WGMT), in BMI Z-score, A1c, and dyslipidemia in 6 months compared to controls.
To investigate the relationship between serum chemerin levels of individuals with colorectal cancer and systematic inflammatory response parameters such as C-reactive protein(CRP) and albumin, and to investigate the relationship of these biomarkers with dietary inflammatory index, phytochemical, anthropometric measurements, and dietary inflammatory index, which is calculated with the data obtained from the 24-hour food consumption record and food consumption frequency questionnaire. The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between the index and dietary antioxidant capacity and to compare them with those of healthy individuals.
The goal of this study is to learn about the relationship between blood sugar, diet, stress, and metabolic parameters including waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), cholesterol levels and blood pressure in patients at risk for diabetes. The main questions it aims to answer are 1) are there trends in blood sugar responses after meals for patients at risk of developing diabetes? And 2) are there correlations between stress and fluctuations in blood sugar? During the first visit, participant's waist circumference, body composition, cholesterol, and resting blood pressure will be measured, and a continuous glucose monitor sensor will be placed on the participant's non-dominant arm. This sensor will be worn for seven days, and the participant will be asked to complete a daily food log during that time. Each participant will be asked to return to clinic after one week to return the continuous glucose monitor and daily food log.
American football is a high-contact sport, also known as a collision sport. American football players are exposed to various magnitudes and frequencies of head impacts throughout the season. Accordingly, during the American football season, there is an increase in biomarkers that may be associated with brain damage and the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases later in life. In addition, oxidative stress and inflammation can also increase in athletes during the American football season. This study was planned with the thought that the MIND diet, which is beneficial for brain health with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, may have positive effects on oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players. The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effects of the MIND diet on oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players. The main question it aims to answer are: • [Question] Does the MIND diet lowers or reduce the levels of oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers in American football players? Participants will be randomized into 2 groups MIND diet and control group. The current diet of the players in the control group will not be interfered with during the competition period, but the current nutrition of the players in the MIND diet group will be adapted to the MIND diet according to the food groups in the MIND diet components and their consumption frequencies. The players in the MIND diet group will be asked to include the food groups in the MIND diet in their diet in accordance with their consumption frequency. Researchers will compare the MIND diet and control groups to see if the MIND diet improves oxidative stress, inflammation and neurodegenerative risk biomarkers.
investigators plan to observe the changes of biochemical indicators, body composition, gut microbiota, metabolomics in patients at different periods through balanced diet and Low-carbohydrate diet, so as to determine the beneficial "intestinal functional group" of MAFLD, and provide basis for the selection of the best time for probiotics and fecal bacteria transplantation.By comparing the response of the main outcome indicators to the two dietary structures, personalized nutritional intervention measures can be achieved.
The GHK intervention was developed according to the United Kingdom Medical Research Council's framework for developing and evaluating complex interventions. A pilot- and feasibility study was conducted during December 2022-April 2023, and the intervention was subsequently adapted and adjusted. The GHK main trial is a two-school-year cluster-randomized school- and community trial designed to investigate the effect of the multi-setting, multi-component GHK intervention program on weight development, health and wellbeing in Danish children aged 6-11 years. The trial will include 24 schools in Denmark (12 intervention and 12 control). The primary aim of the cluster-randomized trial is to investigate whether the GHK intervention program can promote healthy body composition as measured by fat mass (FM) in the intervention group compared with the control group. We hypothesize that the intervention will result in less FM gain in the intervention group compared with the control group over the two school-year study period.
The study aims to evaluate the metabolizable energy of the typical American diet with and without the inclusion of fiber. We hypothesize that including fiber in the diet will decrease the metabolizable energy of the diet resulting in more nutrient loss into the feces and urine.

The last Low Income Diet and Nutrition Survey (LIDNS) was conducted more than a decade ago and disadvantaged communities are known to be under-represented in other national surveys. This research uses community based participatory research (CBPR) to engage low-income Latinx families in research to pilot test an adapted nutrition education program compared to an existing nutrition education program. The goal of the research is to provide nutrition education on healthy infant feeding to reduce risk for early childhood obesity. The prevalence of obesity in early life remains unacceptably high, especially among low-income children, most are ethnic minorities. Marked ethnic disparities are evident by two years of age, which suggests that existing interventions are not adequate. This project, which focuses on an-at-risk child population, has great potential to address our nation's growing crisis of childhood obesity, which can dramatically improve the health of millions of low-income children, their families, and their future children.
