This observational cohort study aims to develop a novel risk stratification system implementing biomechanics to aid in the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers.
Early identification of potential risk factors for the onset of diabetic foot ulcers are recommended. However, in a Swedish context, there has been no standardised routines to be used in the foot screening procedure. In this study a new standardised routine, the D-Foot, will be tested at the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics. The usability of the web program will be tested.
The clinical trial will assess the delivery of Nitric Oxide topically to the diabetic foot ulcer wound and the surrounding wound area as it related to wound healing. The objective of the study is to assess the Nitric Oxide Therapy treatment time (the number of minutes to deliver the treatment) and frequency (number of days per week to treat) to determine the most optimal treatment time and frequency to develop a rationale for safety and efficacy for the final APT001 clinical study.
The goal of this research is to develop better tools for diagnosing illness of the feet and legs of people who have diabetes. Investigators will use thermal videos of the foot to aid in the refinement of a system designed to detect signs of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The team of investigators will also look at diabetic eye disease and how it might relate to diabetic foot disease.
The aim of the study is to evaluate the intra- and inter-rater variability of wound measurements using the 3D camera and to compare with standard measurement methods (2D image method and gel injection). Forty-eight patients with wounds of various sizes are measured by four clinicians. Each wound is measured twice with the 3D camera, once by 2D image method and once by gel injection into wound cavity by two clinicians.
