Comparing severity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (small and large fibers including autonomic neuroapthy) to postural control and vestibular measurements
This is a proof of concept safety study of an artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system designed for use in the intensive care unit setting. The type 2 diabetic subjects in this study will have their glucose controlled to a range of 100-140 mg/dL by a novel artificial intelligence based closed loop glucose control system for a period of 24 hours. The subjects will consume three standardized meals during the 24 hour study period.
The purpose of the trial is to verify the effectiveness and safety of glimepiride compared with sitagliptin as an add-on therapy to metformin in severe insulin deficiency diabetes.
The primary aim of study is to study the association between leisure-time physical activity and all-cause mortality among individuals with type 2 diabetes in the UK Biobank cohort and the China Kadoorie Biobank cohort. Secondary outcomes are CVD-mortality (both cohorts) and risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (UK Biobank only). Secondary exposures are physical activity from transportation and occupation.
This study aims to culturally adapt an existing American Diabetes Association (ADA)-recognized diabetes self-management and support or DSMES (Diabetes Self Management Education Support) program (Project Dulce) and integrate an evidence-based text messaging program (Dulce Digital) for implementation in Filipino Americans (FAs) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Cultural adaptations aims to facilitate and enhance patient centered approaches and increase participant engagement by addressing barriers to DSMES unique to FAs, such as linguistic challenges, health literacy and numeracy, cultural beliefs and values, and technology access and use. In addition, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the culturally and digitally adapted Project Dulce + Dulce Digital in improving diabetes knowledge, belief, attitudes, hemoglobin A1C (glycosylated hemoglobin), and self-management behaviors at baseline to 3 months and 6 months. The unprecedented increase of T2DM prevalence among racial and ethnic minority populations including FAs in recent decades demands for effective strategies to meet the needs in DSMES in this population. The outcomes of the current study will demonstrate that the culturally adapted Project Dulce and integration of Dulce Digital is effective in addressing the needs FAs, an underserved racial and ethnic minority group in high need of culturally appropriate DSMES.
The research will be carried out in two phases in order to verify the Turkish validity and reliability of the "Feeling Good, Living Life" (FGLL) Scale and to determine the effect of the diary kept using the spiritual writing technique on the anxiety and spiritual well-being level of the children aged 9-12 years who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The first phase of the research was carried out methodologically in Kartal Yavuz Selim Secondary School and Kartal Borsa Imam Hatip Secondary School in Kartal District of Istanbul Province between November-December 2021 for the Turkish validity and reliability study of the FGLL Scale. It has been determined that FGLL can be used as a valid and reliable tool for children aged 9-12 in Turkish society. In the second phase of the study, it was decided to conduct it at Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital in order to reach children between the ages of 9 and 12 who were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and necessary permissions were obtained from the institutions. Istanbul/Kartal Dr. Sample calculations were made with the G*Power 3.1 program in children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, who applied to the Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases Outpatient Clinic. It was calculated that a total of 89 people in three groups, 28/30 people in the groups, should be reached (n=89). In this study the usability of the Omnipod DASH insulin administration system is evaluated prospectively by two questionnaires. The effect on the metabolic control is evaluated retrospectively by analysis of data from the medical records of the patients.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and tolerability of the study drug LY3457263 when administered alone or in combination with glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist (RA) in participants with type 2 diabetes. Blood tests will be performed to investigate how the body processes the study drug and how the study drug affects the body. The study will last up to approximately 16 weeks excluding the screening period for each participant and include up to 17 visits.
This is a single-center, double-arm, open-label, randomized feasibility study that will determine whether a novel clinical decision aid accessed via the electronic health record will be acceptable to both cancer survivors and their cardiologists, will favorably impact appropriate medication use and cardiac imaging surveillance, and will improve clinician and patient decision-making, perception, and behavior towards cardioprotective medication usage and cardiovascular disease imaging utilization.
