The Vaccine Product, PTX-COVID19-B mRNA Humoral Vaccine, is intended for prevention of COVID-19 in a general population. This study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of PTX-COVID19-B compared to Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in healthy seronegative adults aged 18 to 64.
The study will evaluate the clinical efficacy of different dosing regimens of the Moderna COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (100 mcg) in preventing COVID-19 disease in people who are living with HIV or have comorbidities associated with elevated risk of severe COVID-19, with the different vaccine regimens assessed determined by whether the participant had evidence of prior SARS-CoV-2 infection at enrollment.

This is a phase II, multicentre, multinational, randomized, parallel group, placebo-controlled study of four vaccination regimens in healthy pregnant women. There will be 5 treatment groups; three groups of 60 participants will receive will receive two doses of GBS-NN/NN2 vaccine and one dose of placebo (saline); one group of 60 participants will receive one dose of GBS-NN/NN2 vaccine and two doses of placebo (saline), and one group of 60 participants will receive three doses of placebo (saline).

South Africa recorded it's first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19) case on March 5, 2020. In response to the COVID19 outbreak World Health Organisation recommendations, South Africa implemented non-pharmaceutical recommendations. The major risk mitigation factors recommended by World Health Organisation and others - physical distancing and hygiene - are extremely difficult to implement in much of Africa. The investigators will conduct a randomised controlled trial to investigate the effect of an infection mitigation intervention to assess the effect on household transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus (CoV) 2 in household settings with an index patient diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 positive.
The aim of this study is to describe the patient clinical profile, resource requirements, and health system dynamics in a field hospital during the second wave of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, leading to the outbreak of viral severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2 virus), in South Africa. By describing the field hospital in this unique setting, the investigators hope to provide an efficient guide to similar settings across low- and middle-income countries. This was a retrospective, single-center study. A total of 596 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to Mitchells Plain Hospital of Hope (MPHOH), Cape Town, South Africa, between January 1st and February 28th, 2021. Patient clinical characteristics, outcome, and resource allocation was collected. Daily hospital dynamics, including admissions, discharges, deaths and oxygen use was analyzed and compared to the local and national COVID-19 incidence rates.
This is a Phase 2, randomized, observer-blinded study evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 with Matrix-M™ Adjuvant in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (PLWH) and HIV- negative adults, seronegative to SARS-CoV-2 at baseline.
The objective of this proposal is to conduct a pilot test of a program aimed at training traditional healers to conduct HIV testing and implementing HIV testing among people living in Bushbuckridge, South Africa. Pilot Healer-initiated HIV testing uptake and linkage to prevention services. Trust in allopathic health care and HIV stigma will be measured among participants at study enrollment and at month seven. Hypothesis: Healer-initiated HIV counseling and testing (HICT) will increase trust in allopathic health care and reduce HIV stigma.
