Allogeneic Natural Killer (NK) Cell Therapy in Subjects Hospitalized for COVID-19

This study is being done to determine the highest tolerated dose of an investigational cell therapy called DVX201 in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. DVX201 is an allogeneic NK (natural killer) cell therapy. NK cells are a normal part of your immune system that have the ability to identify and kill cells in the body that are infected by viruses such as COVID-19. There is evidence that both NK cell exhaustion and low numbers of NK cell in the blood occur in COVID-19 patients, and this may contribute to worsening of the infection. Therefore, infusion of healthy functional NK cells (like DVX201) may help overcome COVID-19 infection and prevent progression of the disease. This study is being done to look at the safety and tolerability of DVX201 in patients with COVID-19 and to gather information on how COVID-19 responds to treatment with DVX201.

Differences in Flare Reaction Incidence and Intensity Following Trigger Finger Injections

Two common corticosteroids used for trigger finger treatment are betamethasone and methylprednisolone. Both injections are effective in treating trigger finger and the decision of which to use in treatment is currently a matter of the current practice and physician preference. The goal through this randomized trial is to see whether there is a difference between these two corticosteroids in inducing flare reactions and if there are any differences in the peak level of pain and their duration. Findings indicating a statistically significant difference in the incidence and/or intensity of the flare reactions would be clinically significant and would be evidence supporting the switch of current practice to one corticosteroid over the other.

Placental Volume, Flow, and Vascularity Study

The purpose of this preliminary study is to implement an automated and standardized computer-based method that accurately measures placental volume, blood flow, and vascularity. This will be accomplished by using the digital data obtained at the time of a first-trimester 3D image volume. This information will then be used to further investigate whether placental volume, blood flow, and vascularity can be used to predict the risk of preeclampsia in conjunction with maternal history and serum blood markers obtained at the time of their ultrasound.

The images have been developed in a user-design model and include four main themes: health reward, financial reward, self-efficacy, and social norms. We will assess pre- and post-exposure reactions on likelihood of future vaping among African American and Latino adolescents.

Feasibility of Mobile and Technology Assisted Aftercare Services for Crisis Stabilization Units

In this study investigators are examining the feasibility and acceptability of an expanded and technology-assisted aftercare program with persons released from a crisis stabilization unit (CSU) who were brought to the CSU by choice of law enforcement. Investigators are assessing the critical elements of CSUs, examining the feasibility and acceptability of pairing mobile and technology-assisted aftercare to improve treatment access and retention; and developing a study protocol to be used in a future multisite randomized controlled trial (RCT). Crisis stabilization units provide law enforcement officers an alternative to jail for individuals experiencing a substance use or mental health disorder crisis contributing to criminalized behavior. This study is designed to assist with the diversion of individuals toward treatment and away from subsequent contact with law enforcement through piloting mobile and technology assisted aftercare services to persons released from a CSU. One of the largest barriers to the effectiveness of CSUs is retaining the individual in treatment after discharge. Logistical factors including transportation, stable housing, and long waitlists for community-based treatment decrease treatment access. These factors may also be complicated by an individual's understanding of the importance of remaining in treatment as well as their motivation to continue. To overcome these barriers and enhance the impact of CSUs, investigators are developing an expanded model which includes mobile and technology-assisted modalities that address psychological, behavioral, and medication-assisted treatment.
