The primary purpose of this project is to evaluate the safety of new treatment termed bilateral laryngeal pacing to improve treatment outcomes in patients with bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP) (Aim 1). Outcome measures related to voice and ventilation will also provide initial insights into the efficacy of bilateral (Aim 2) and unilateral (Aim 3) stimulation of the implanted device to improve treatment outcomes in patients with BVFP.
A group of 6 able-bodied healthy volunteers will receive Neostigmine (NEO) and Glycopyrrolate (GLY) intravenously and via 2 methods of Iontophoresis (ION): one-patch and two-patch administration, with subsequent blood draws over 1 hour in order to measure the pharmacokinetic behavior of the drugs in-vivo.

This aim of the DETECT HCV linkage trial compares two linkage to care intervention strategies among (1) newly diagnosed HCV positive patients from the emergency department (ED) and (2) those patients who present to the ED with untreated active HCV. Patients who are positive for HCV and agree to be part of the study will be randomized to either clinician referral alone or clinician referral plus a linkage navigator.

MYALEPT™ (metreleptin) has been approved as an adjunct to diet as replacement therapy to treat the complications of leptin deficiency in patients with congenital or acquired generalized lipodystrophy (MYALEPT Prescribing Information). This study is a multicenter, open-label, Phase 4 trial to provide an assessment of the immunogenicity associated with metreleptin and of any major potential risks due to development of antibodies to metreleptin.
