Effects of Probiotic Ayran on Gingivitis

Objectives: This study investigates the effects of daily consumption of probiotic ayran drink on gingival inflammation and the development of experimental gingivitis. Methods: A total of 54volunteer students were included in the present randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.The participants were divided randomly into two groups; The Control group consisted of 27 participants who consumed placebo ayran, while the 27 participants of the Test group consumed probiotic ayran (containing Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum) for 42 days twice a day.After 42 days, mechanical plaque control was interrupted for 5 days. The clinical parameters of gingivitis; Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing bleeding (BOP), probing depth (PPD) were recorded at baseline, day 42 (beginning of experimental gingivitis) and day 47 (the end of experimental gingivitis). At the same time points, gingival crevicular fluid had been collected for analysis of matrix metalloproteinase - 8 (MMP-8).

The Effect of Relactation Support Program on Milk Release

Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of relactation support program on milk release, mother-infant attachment and maternity role. Materials and Methods: This single-group pre-test post-test experimental study was conducted with 34 mothers who had 1-4 month old infants, stopped breastfeeding at least 15 days and at most 3 months ago and were registered in the family health centers of a province in the southern Turkey. The relactation support program was completed in 15 days, with eight home visits and seven telephone support sessions. The data were collected using a personal information form, a mother-infant follow-up form, the Maternal Attachment Inventory (MAI) and the Barkin Index of Maternal Functioning (BIMF). H2: Informing caregivers of patients undergoing open heart surgery reduces caregiver burden.Relatives of patients who have undergone open heart surgery will be informed about home care before discharge. The researcher will compare the study group with the control group to see if the information given to the caregiver makes a difference on the patient's quality of life.

This study was conducted descriptively with 95 patients with gestational diabetes who were treated in the endocrine service of a university hospital between August 15, 2021 and April 24, 2022. Personal information form created by the researchers, The Self-Efficacy Scale in Gestational Diabetes, and Diabetes Knowledge Scale were used to collect data.

Clinicians consider lumbar disc herniation more prominently in the differential diagnosis than piriformis syndrome, as it is the most common cause of sciatica, and this canalizes them to overlook that the sciatic nerve may be compressed by the piriformis muscle, below the L4-L5-S1 intervertebral disc levels. As far as is known, there are no 'patient series' in the literature regarding the incidence of Piriformis syndrome in Lumbar Disc Herniation, only one case report has been found. This clinical study aims to reveal that Piriformis syndrome may also be present in patients with disc herniation on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and that sometimes it may even be the main cause of sciatic nerve pain.

Hematological inflammatory indices (Table 2) are currently very popular and have diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive, roles in various diseases. Considering their promising roles, we hypothesized that hematological inflammatory indices may have a distinctive value between brucella spondylodiscitis and type 1 Modic Changes (MCs). If the hypothesis is valid, early diagnosis-differential diagnosis-treatment processes may become easier and more successful. Given that hematological inflammatory indices are faster, practical, simpler, inexpensive, and easily accessible indicators, they may be more appropriate tools in differentiation between brucella spondylodiscitis and type 1 MCs.

Consequently, this study aimed to investigate and compare the influence of mat Pilates and reformer Pilates exercises on FMS and ROM in soccer players, addressing this critical research gap.

Effects of Low Glycemic Index Diet in Children With Drug-resistant Epilepsy

The goal of this clinical trial was to evaluate the effectiveness of a low glycemic index diet (LGID) on seizure frequency, oxidative stress markers and quality of life in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. Based upon the aims, the following hypotheses were tested: 1. LGID reduces seizure frequency in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. 2. LGID improves oxidative parameters in children with drug-resistant epilepsy 3. LGID improves quality of life and mental health in children with drug-resistant epilepsy Participants were prescribed the LGID for 3 months.At baseline and at outpatient clinic follow-ups at 3 months, anthropometric measurements were taken, the strengths and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ), Pediatric Inventory of Quality of Life (PedsQL) and depression scales were administered and samples for biochemical measurements were collected. Diet compliance was evaluated by food consumption records during monthly follow-up visits (at 1 , 2, and 3 months).
