the Effect of Different Wound Dressing on Prevention of Pressure ınjury Related to NIMV Mask

This study is aimed to examine the effect of different wound dressings on the prevention of pressure injury in the face area related to noninvasive mechanical ventilation mask. The study was completed out with 102 patients who were followed up in Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Hospital between October 2019 and August 2020 and met the inclusion criteria of the study. In the study, hydrocellular and hydrocolloid wound dressing was applied to the pressure areas under the mask of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in the intervention groups, while the routine treatment process was followed in the control group. Wound dressings were obtained from HARTMANN. Study data were collected with the "Individual Characteristics Form" and "Pressure Injury Rating Scale".

As in the world, the physiotherapist profession is gradually developing and spreading in Turkey. In this sense, the number of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation faculties, departments and colleges is increasing every year. With the increasing prevalence of the profession, it has brought up the revision of training programs and questioning their success. In the literature, there are accreditation reports and guides in Australia, America and Canada regarding the education of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation science field. When we look at the literature in our country, there is no study that covers a common curriculum or training program developed for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Turkey.Therefore, it is thought that the diversity in education programs may affect the way physiotherapists, most of whom work in special education, work after graduation.

Immunomodulatory and Preventive Effects of Olive Leaf Tea Against COVID-19

During the Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, in addition to the current measures, boosting the immune system seems to be one of preventive measures that can be taken against COVID-19 infection. Various natural agents have been recommended to boost the immune system. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible immunomodulatory and preventive effects of Olive Leaf Tea (OLT) drinking with regards to COVID-19 infection. The study was conducted among 249 workers in a tractor factory where OLT was served. Of the 249 workers, 168 of them were OLT drinkers and 81 were not OLT drinkers. Drinking at least one cup of OLT per day for a minimum of one month was the inclusion criteria used in the study. The workers with a history of infection or vaccination of COVID-19 were excluded. Lymphocyte subsets, IL2, INF-gamma, specific IgM, and IgG levels were analyzed in all the study subjects. The results showed higher values of CD3-/CD16/56 (NK) cells, CD3+/CD16/56 (NKT) cells, total NK (NK+NKT) cells, and serum IFN-gamma and IL-2 levels in OLT drinkers as compared to the nondrinkers. These immune changes are indicative of immune defense mechanisms. Although all the OLT drinkers and non-drinkers reported no history of COVID-19, specific COVID-19 IgG levels were found positive in 60% of OLT drinkers and 38% OLT non-drinkers. There were significant negative correlations between age and NK cells, number of cigarettes smoked and NK cells, number of cigarettes smoked and TNK; and there were positive correlations between OLT drinking frequency and TNF-alpha, IL-2 and IFN-gamma. Also, serum creatinine levels in OLT non-drinkers were found significantly higher than in the OLT drinkers. In conclusion, drinking OLT may contribute fighting against COVID-19 by boosting the innate immune system.

The Effectiveness Pulmonary Telerehabilitation and Cognitive Telerehabilitation in COPD Patients

The aim of our study is to compare the effectiveness of the supervized pulmonary telerehabilitation program and the cognitive telerehabilitation method, which includes pulmonary telerehabilitation methods, in patients with severe stage COPD who have difficulty exercising heavily. The effects of pulmonary and cognitive rehabilitation on dyspnea, muscle strength, functional capacity, quality of life, anxiety and depression levels in this patient group will be examined. The number of studies in the literature in which the pulmonary rehabilitation program was applied as telerehabilitation is insufficient. Considering that this patient group is not motivated and has difficulty in exercising, motor imagery and movement observation methods from cognitive rehabilitation methods may be alternative methods for these patients. Although these methods have been very popular in recent years in terms of researching and demonstrating their effectiveness in various patient groups in the literature, no study has been found in which the effects of these methods have been applied in pulmonary disease groups. This study aims to contribute to the serious gap in the literature on the application of pulmonary telerehabilitation and its effectiveness, and to be an original study by investigating the effectiveness of motor imagery and action observation, which are popular rehabilitation methods of recent years, in COPD patients in the pulmonary disease group for the first time.
