LINE-1 and Alu Methylation Levels Among Middle Aged Women With Low Cardiovascular Risk Profile in Respect of Menopausal Hot Flashes

Vasomotor symptoms are the most common symptoms seen during climacterium. The hypoestrogenic state causes dysfunction of hypothalamic preoptic area, a thermoregulatory center. The sympathetic overactivation during the hot flashes is associated with awakening during sleep and have a negative impact on cardiac indexes and vascular reactivity. Therefore, hot flashes are accepted as subclinical cardiovascular risk factor. The association between the severity of the hot flashes and cardiovascular risk may have an epigenetic background. Recently, methylation changes of DNA was found to be associated with clinical and subclinical cardiovascular disease risk (atherosclerosis and hypertension etc.). A transposable element in the DNA, Long interspersed nuclear elements (LINE-1), was found to be hypomethylated in cases with ischemic heart disease and stroke. Therefore, the expression of repeating elements in the DNA (LINE-1 and ALU) may be considered as a mediator in the ischemic heart disease. Until now, menopausal age, vasomotor symptoms and epigenetic and biological aging have been evaluated. However, the epigenetic impact of severe vasomotor symptoms in postmenopausal women with low cardiovascular disease risk profile has not been evaluated. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the epigenetic basis of cardiovascular disease risk for women with vasomotor symptoms which disturb sleep by assessing the methylation levels of ALU and LINE-1.

Surgical extraction of impacted wisdom teeth creates a high level of anxiety on patients. Anxiety in patients can affect the difficulty of tooth extraction, prolong the duration of surgery and increase post-operative pain. With the increasing internet usage in recent years; patients can access different information about surgical procedures by watching videos on various social media platforms in an uncontrolled manner. In the literature, the effects of impacted tooth extraction videos, which are watched by physicians before the operation, on anxiety have been examined. However, studies on the evaluation of the effect of the surgery videos watched by the patients before the surgery on their own will on anxiety and pain perception have been limited.

In COPD patients with chronic bronchitis, it is aimed to determine whether the broncho muco cleaner balloon dilation method can provide clinical and functional benefit by causing destruction in hyperplasic goblet cells in the bronchial system. Although 2 studies have been published on this subject before, one of them is a retrospective design and the other is a pilot study consisting of only 10 patients . Therefore, it is clear that it should be supported by a controlled prospective study with more patients. Within the scope of the research, broncho muco cleaner balloon dilatation treatment will be performed with fiberoptic bronchoscope under general anesthesia in chronic bronchitis-predominant COPD cases, and the effectiveness and reliability of the procedure will be evaluated.

Concerns about the necessity and risks of blood transfusions have led to the search for new noninvasive monitoring methods. Oxygen reserve index (ORI), one of them, is a dimensionless index ranging from 0.00 (no reserve) to 1.00 (maximum reserve) according to oxygenation reserve status, and it is also a non-invasive and continuous measurement parameter. Some studies have examined ORi as an indicator for early detection of hypoxemia. There are reports in the literature that ORi and Pa02 values measured noninvasively during surgery are early precursors for desaturation and hypoxia.Researces aimed to investigate the relationship between perioperative blood transfusions and ORI in vertebral stabilization surgeries performed by the same surgical team in our clinic.

This study was planned in a randomized controlled quasi-experimental design to determine the effect of breastfeeding education using a doll during pregnancy on newborn feeding. Necessary institutional and ethics committee permissions will be obtained before the study. Before data collection, the consent form will be read to the pregnant women who meet the inclusion criteria and volunteer to participate in the study and their written and verbal consent will be obtained. The information in the participant information form will be questioned before the training. In the prenatal period of the study, the Control group will be given the standard breastfeeding education applied by the institution verbally. In the intervention group, breastfeeding education prepared in line with the relevant literature will be given by the researchers. Individual breastfeeding training will be given to each participant by a researcher.

Inflammatory and Anti-Inflammatory Gene Expressions in Liver Transplant Patients

In our study, some inflammatory Interleukin-2 , Interleukin-6, Interferon-γ, Tumor Necrosis Factor-α and anti-inflammatory Interleukin-4 and Interleukin-10 cytokine genes expressions and Triggering Receptor Expressed On Myeloid Cells- 1, which contributes to the pathology of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases; Human Leukocyte Antigen-G5, which suppresses the immune response; the expression levels of transcription factor Forkhead box-P3 expressed in regulatory T-lymphocytes and Cluster of Differentiation (CD)14 genes, which are thought to be biomarkers in various infectious diseases and expressed in monocytes, will be measured from peripheral blood samples obtained from liver transplant patients before, 1 month and 6 months after the operation. In addition, the classical liver markers Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Platelet Count (PLT), Alpha Feto Protein (AFP), Direct Bilirubin (Bilirubin D), Total Bilirubin (Bilirubin T) and C- Levels of biochemical parameters such as Reactive Protein (CRP) will be measured. In the light of the data to be obtained, it is aimed to find biomarkers with high predictive value for rejection and infection after liver transplantation.

The ultimate goal of treating children with lower extremity differences is to improve quality of life, optimize function, and maximize participation by addressing the physical, social, and psychological effects of lower extremity differences. In the pediatric field, research has focused on the Body Functions and Structures area of the ICF framework, such as radiographic measurements of limb alignment and length, postoperative complications, and recovery time. Priority targets for children/parents are better captured in the Activity and Participation areas of the ICF framework. Developed in Canada, the Gait Outcomes Assessment List (GOAL)was created to evaluate outcomes for gait-related interventions for children with cerebral palsy based on a wide range of children's and parents' goals. It was also developed for other childhood conditions associated with lower extremity disorders. The present study aimed to determine the Turkish cultural adaptation, validity, and reliability of the "Gait Outcomes Assessment List for Children With Lower-Limb Difference Parent Version/ Child Version" in Pediatric Rheumatologic Diseases.
