Evaluation of the Effect of Gluten-Free Diet and Mediterranean Diet

Background: Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease that attacks thyroid cells through cell- and antibody-mediated immune processes and is characterized by the production of thyroid autoantibodies. In hashimoto, antithyroid peroxidase antibodies are increased and thyroid stimulating hormone levels are elevated. A gluten-free diet regulates thyroid autoimmunization by decreasing the concentration of antibodies. The Mediterranean diet also reduces disease-related oxidative stress parameters in patients with hashimoto's thyroid due to its anti-inflammatory effects. Aims: To evaluate the short-term effects of Mediterranean, gluten-free and Mediterranean gluten-free dietary patterns on thyroid function and autoantibody levels of patients. Study Design: Prospective, single-blind randomized controlled trial including case and control groups Methods: The 40 patients with hashimato thyroiditis included in the study were randomly divided into 4 different groups as gluten-free, Mediterranean, Mediterranean gluten-free and control group for 12 weeks. Thyroid function tests and autoantibody levels were analyzed at the beginning and end of the study. In addition, anthropometric measurements were taken at the beginning and end of the study and food consumption records and food consumption frequencies were evaluated.

In this study, we aim to decrease the amount of postpartum hemorrhage by clamping the uterine artery after the delivery of the baby during Cesarean delivery.

The Effect of Breastfeeding Pillow on Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy and Postpartum Comfort in Women Who Had Cesarean

The research is a randomised controlled experimental study. It was conducted to examine the effect of breastfeeding pillow on breastfeeding self-efficacy and postnatal comfort in primiparous puerperas who gave birth by caesarean section. The answers to the questions "Is the breastfeeding pillow effective on breastfeeding self-efficacy in primiparous puerperium giving birth by caesarean section?" and "Is the breastfeeding pillow effective on comfort during breastfeeding in primiparous puerperium giving birth by caesarean section?" are investigated. The puerperas in the experimental group were allowed to use a breastfeeding pillow during breastfeeding and evaluated at 24th and 48th hours. Puerperas in the control group continued routine breastfeeding and did not use a breastfeeding pillow. They were evaluated at 24th and 48th hours.

Facilitated Tucking Position, Gentle Human Touch Practices and Pain

This prospective study is planned as a randomized controlled study to evaluate the effect of facilitated tucking position and gentle human touch practices on the pain experienced by newborns during heel blood collection. This study is planned to be carried out between 15 July and 15 December 2023 in the neonatal intensive care unit of a training and research hospital in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. The sample size was calculated based on the study of premature infants to determine the effect of facilitated tucking position on procedural pain. According to the results of the study, PIPP pain scores were determined as 11.88±3.05 in the intervention group (n=17) and 9.06±2.95 in the control group (n=17). The effect size of the study was determined as d= 0.939 at α=0.05 level and 95% confidence interval. It was decided to conduct the study with a total of 90 premature babies, 30 of whom were in the groups, in case of data loss during the study.

Tranexamic Acid in Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

Tranexamic acid, once a randomly used antifibrinolytic agent, has been in standard protocols for many specific surgeries. Studies are still needed to standardize the dose and route of tranexamic acid administration, examine its possible contributions in urological surgery, and establish a protocol for its use. To contribute to this goal, the study was designed as a prospective, randomized, double-blind study on 75 patients with one control and 2 study groups (n=25) who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Group Tranexamic acid received 10 mg/kg intravenous tranexamic acid preoperatively. And Group Irrigation received the same amount in the initial irrigation fluid. Primarily,the total amount of blood transfusion and the changes in haemoglobin and haematocrit values during two postoperative days were observed. Distinctively, continuous intraoperative haemoglobin saturation was monitored. Secondarily, surgical visual clarity with a standard visual score was questioned to reveal its contribution to surgical practicality, operative time, and residual fragment quantity.

Aggression From the Perspective of Patients and Nurses

The research, was planned in a randomized controlled design, aiming to evaluate the effect of the training given to nurses working in psychiatric clinics on the use of aggression and BVC (Broset Violence Checklist) on the nurses' perceptions of aggression and the compliance of the use of BVC, which they evaluated for the patients watched in the videos, with the BVC determined by expert opinion. The study was conducted in Adana Doctor Ekrem Tok Mental Health and Diseases Hospital between July 2021 and April 2022. A total of 97 nurses working in psychiatric clinics, 47 in the training group and 50 in the comparison group, participated in the study. A pre-test was administered to the nurses and nurses in the training group were randomized and given training including aggression and BVC use. After the training, a post-test was administered to all nurses.

Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter in Low-flow and Normal-flow Rate Anesthesia

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the regularly performed laparoscopic surgical procedures. It resulted in shorter hospital stays, improved cosmetic outcomes, and reduced bleeding and pain. However, during laparoscopic surgeries, the pneumoperitoneum is known to raise intracranial pressure (ICP), reduction in cerebral blood flow (CBF), and as a consequence, cerebral hypoxia. There are various possible advantages of low-flow anesthesia. During laparoscopic procedures, low-flow anesthesia may be used as a means of preventing a rise in intracranial pressure and cerebral hypoxia. But low flow anesthesia effects on İCP are not known in Laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The primary aim of this study is to compare the effects of low-flow (0.75 l/min) and normal-flow (1.5 l/min) anesthesia on ONSD in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Seconder aims are regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2), bispectral index (BIS), and evaluate the status of cognitive function in the postoperative 24th hours.
