There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
RATIONALE: Antifungal therapy with voriconazole or amphotericin B may be an effective treatment for aspergillosis. It is not yet known whether voriconazole is more effective than amphotericin B in treating patients with aspergillosis. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of voriconazole with amphotericin B in treating patients with aspergillosis.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of peripheral stem cell transplantation with high-dose cytarabine in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myelogenous leukemia.
RATIONALE: Vaccines made from human papillomavirus may make the body build an immune response to and kill cervical cancer cells. Combining vaccine therapy with surgery may be a more effective treatment for cervical cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving vaccine therapy together with surgery works in treating patients with early cervical cancer.
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells, and may be an effective treatment for anaplastic oligodendroglioma. Combining combination chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare radiation therapy with and without combination chemotherapy in patients with resected anaplastic oligodendroglioma.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known if combination chemotherapy given after surgery is more effective than surgery alone for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy following surgery with that of surgery alone in treating patients who have stage I, stage II, or stage IIIA non-small cell lung cancer.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether surgery plus combination chemotherapy is more effective than surgery alone in treating patients with lung metastases from soft tissue sarcoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of surgery plus combination chemotherapy with that of surgery alone in treating patients who have soft tissue sarcoma that has spread to the lung.
RATIONALE: Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of cancer cells. It is not known whether giving high-dose or low-dose interferon alfa is more effective than no further therapy in treating patients with stage III melanoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of high- or low-dose interferon alfa with that of no further therapy following surgery in treating patients who have stage III melanoma.
RATIONALE: Estrogen can stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy may fight breast cancer by blocking the uptake of estrogen. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with hormone therapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which treatment regimen is more effective for breast cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of hormone therapy during or after combination chemotherapy or hormone therapy alone in treating perimenopausal or postmenopausal women who have stage II or stage IIIA breast cancer.
RATIONALE: Removing axillary lymph nodes may be effective in stopping the spread of breast cancer cells. It is not yet known if surgery to remove breast cancer is more effective with or without lymph node removal. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of breast surgery with or without removal of axillary lymph nodes in treating women who have stage I or stage IIA breast cancer.
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether receiving radiation therapy or no further therapy after surgery is more effective for cancer of the uterus. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of radiation therapy with that of no further therapy in treating patients who have stage I or stage II cancer of the uterus that has been surgically removed.
