There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a Phase III, randomized, multicenter, international, 2-arm, open-label clinical trial designed to compare the safety and efficacy of trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) with that of capecitabine + lapatinib for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Patients were treated until disease progression, unmanageable toxicity, or study termination. Once disease progression was reported, all patients were followed for survival every 3 months until death, loss to follow-up, withdrawal of consent, or study termination.
The purpose of the study is to assess if there are any differences in the articulatory and phonological competence in pre-school children with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) who are treated with different surgical methods of palatal repair.
Previous studies have analyzed serological responses following pneumococcal vaccination using 23-valent vaccination (Pneumovax) in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients that were on different therapeutic modalities including TNF-blockers and methotrexate. The results have shown that serological response was significantly reduced in RA patients receiving methotrexate compared to those receiving TNF-blockers. In contrast when using polypeptide immunisation (influenza vaccine) we found that anti-TNF significantly impaired the serological response compared to the methotrexate treated RA patients. The aim of this study is to analyze serological responses after Prevenar vaccination in patients with chronic arthritis and to study the impact of different treatment modalities on serological responses. It will be of interest to see if the result is different compared to the one seen after immunizing with 23-valent nonconjugated pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine.
It is a prospective observational study. Patients will be high risk patients (for developing cardiovascular events) that are treated with a statin. Patients will be enrolled at a normal clinic visit and provided with a small box containing info about the disease, a LDL self-test and two questionnaires. They will test themselves for LDL at home between normal clinic visits (normally 12 months interval) and note their value. In the end of the study all patients will fill out a questionnaire with questions if the tests and info have raised their awareness of the disease as well if their motivation to be compliant has increased. We want to look at the possibility to put more responsibility for treatment and for reaching treatment goals on the patients since there's a big problem with compliance in this group of patients.
Hypochondriasis (health anxiety) is common, has many negative consequences for the afflicted individual and is associated with high societal costs. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has proven to be effective when administered in live-sessions. The aim of this study is to investigate whether CBT remains effective when administered via a self-help programme on the Internet.
The objective of the study is to evaluate pain and disabling complications inducing social consequences in primary inguinal hernia ProGrip mesh repair compared to Lichtenstein repair with lightweight polypropylene mesh.
Objective: To study the effect of fast food-based hyper-alimentation on liver enzymes and hepatic triglyceride content (HTGC)and metabolism. Design: Prospective interventional study with parallel control group. Setting University Hospital of Linköping, Sweden. Participants: 12 healthy men and six healthy women with a mean (SD) age of 26 (6.6) years and a matched control group. Intervention: Subjects in the intervention group aimed for a body weight increase of 5-15% by eating at least two fast food-based meals a day with the goal to double the regular caloric intake in combination with adoption of a sedentary lifestyle for four weeks. Main outcome measures: Weekly changes of serum aminotransferases and HTGC measured by proton nuclear magnetic resonance-spectroscopy at baseline and after the intervention.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether tanezumab is effective in the treatment of pain associated with chronic prostatitis.
The purpose of this study is to, in patients with stable angina pectoris, assess the additional benefit of PCI on top of optimized medical treatment, physical training and smoking cessation with regard to quality of life, achievement of target of treatment and clinical events such as death, acute myocardial infarction, stroke and revascularization.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Akreos Toric IOL following cataract surgery.
