There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study will assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), and preliminary efficacy of AZD9574 individually and in combination with anti-cancer agents in 490 participants with advanced cancer that has recurred/progressed.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a multifaceted disorder where diet plays a pivotal role in symptom generation and management. The traditional dietary advice given to patients in clinical settings are based on the NICE guidelines. Some of the advice included in these guidelines have limited scientific evidence. The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the traditional dietary advice in IBS, according to the NICE guidelines, within a primary health care setting, where treatment is delivered digitally and in groups of 8-12 individuals. As a sham comparator, one group will receive dietary advice according to the Swedish dietary guidelines regarding healthy eating habits.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), primarily ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), is a chronic disease entity affecting individuals of all ages, and which may severely impact the lives of the patients and their families as well as society. Individuals with IBD may have to live with relapsing symptoms, such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fatigue. Further, a substantial proportion of patients develop serious complications such as bowel obstruction and fistula, and some develop complicating liver disease and eventually colorectal cancer. The consequences are that many patients suffer hospitalizations, recurring sick-leave, life-long medication, and surgical interventions. As IBD has become increasingly common in Western populations there is a clear need to improve the outcome from IBD. IBD is a heterogeneous disease entity with substantial differences between patients and personalized medicine may help provide strategies for better treatment . Currently, one of the main unmet needs is the glaring lack of robust biomarkers for individual disease characterization. This lack leads to delayed diagnosis, worse outcomes, increased mortality and an amplified disease burden. Furthermore, diagnosis of IBD is difficult and early diagnosis is crucial as it helps avoid the development of irreversible organ damage. Therefore, there is an emerging focus on the development of simple, non-invasive, and cheap biomarkers to support clinical decision-making in IBD. This Nordic, prospective, clinical study has the aim of identifying markers that are associated with the diagnosis of IBD and prediction of clinical outcomes with various disease manifestations. Importantly, this study will evaluate the markers in a relevant clinical setting, i.e. among patients referred to the hospital for suspicion on IBD using the ECCO Criteria. Specifically the aims of the study are to: - Improve the accuracy to diagnose IBD - Improve the accuracy to define the prognosis of IBD The study is approved by the local Ethics Committee (S-20200051) and the local Data Agency (20/54594).
Radiotherapy is inhibiting the healing capacity of the mandibular bone. Late complications as bone exposure, fracture of the jaw, osteoradionecrosis might be a consequence of this vulnerability. A factor that could be involved in the development of complications is field of radiation. There are limited number of studies investigating this relation. Retrospective analysis of a head and neck oncology register with prospectively included patients will be performed. Patients will be related to the University hospitals in Lund, Umea, Orebro, Stockholm. A thorough analysis of the medical journals in this group of patients will be performed. Included patients have been treated with combination of surgery and radiotherapy to treat malignancies in the head and neck region. At least 12 months follow up period is needed for inclusion. The scientific aim is to investigate weather the field of radiation and fractionation is crucial for developing the formentioned complications.
Follicular Lymphoma (FL) is the second most common B-cell cancer and the most common type of cancer of lymphocytes. Unfortunately, this disease is incurable with conventional treatment and the disease recurs in almost all patients. This study will assess how safe and effective epcoritamab is in combination with lenalidomide and rituximab (R2) in treating adult participants with relapsed or refractory (R/R) FL. Adverse events and change in disease condition will be assessed. Epcoritamab is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of FL. Study doctors put the participants in 1 of 3 groups, called treatment arms. Each group receives a different treatment. Enrollment to one of the groups is closed. Around 500 adult participants with R/R FL will be enrolled in approximately 300 sites across the world. Participants will receive R2 (375 mg/m^2 intravenous infusion of rituximab up to 5 cycles and oral capsules of 20 mg lenalidomide for up to 12 cycles) alone or in combination with subcutaneous injections of epcoritamab for up to 12 cycles (each cycle is 28 days). There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.
Two important challenges that primary school in Sweden is confronted by are increasing levels of mental illness among children and adolescents and increasing rates of stress related symptoms and sick leave associated with mental illness in primary school teachers. Primary school is an important arena to address these issues. PAX is implemented as a part of the regular classroom activities and gives the teacher tools to promote behaviors that are constructive and learning oriented. The programme has been shown to improve student health and performance both short- and long-term. The teachers also receive tools to lessen stressors in their working environment. A Swedish uncontrolled pilot study showed increased well-being in children and reduced teacher stress as well as improved work related well-being at post-intervention. The aim of this project is to study the effects of PAX on student well-being and teacher stress. In a cluster-randomized design, 84 teachers from 28 schools (clusters) will be randomized to either implement PAX, or to an active control group that receives the same amount of support but with different content. The PAX group will get a two-day education in PAX at the start of the term, followed by an implementation-term. The measurements include self-assessment, blind observer assessments, objectively measuring sound levels, data on sick leave and qualitative interviews. Baseline measurements are performed before implementation and primary end point is one year after. Costs and savings related to PAX will be measured and put in relation to the quality-adjusted life years of students and teachers. Long-term effects on student performance, health and participation in society will be evaluated in a follow-up project.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the PK, safety and tolerability of cobitolimod ememas (500mg/50mL) given to participants with active left-sided UC.
The primary purpose of this trial is to investigate whether men with idiopathic infertility (unexplained reduction of semen quality), after being treated with a daily dose of 12 µg recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) for 6 months, can improve the chance of spontaneous pregnancy observed in their female partners in comparison to placebo (inactive treatment). For more information, please visit the trial's website www.adamclinicaltrial.com (only applicable in the US).
In this study, researchers will learn more about a study drug called BIIB080. The study will focus on participants with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to AD. The main question researchers are trying to answer is if BIIB080 can slow the worsening of AD more than placebo. It will focus on what dose of BIIB080 slows worsening of AD the most. To help answer this question, researchers will use the Clinical Dementia Rating-Sum of Boxes, also known as the CDR-SB. - Clinicians use the CDR-SB to measure several categories of dementia symptoms. - The results for each category are added together for a total score. Lower scores are better. Researchers will also learn more about the safety of BIIB080. The study will be split into 2 parts. The 1st part is the Placebo-Controlled Period. The 2nd part is the Long-Term Extension Period. The 2nd part of the study will help researchers learn about the long-term safety of BIIB080, and how it affects the participant's daily life, thinking, and memory abilities in the longer term. A description of how the study will be done is given below. - After screening, participants will first receive either a low dose or high dose of BIIB080, or a placebo, as an injection into the fluid around the spinal cord (cerebrospinal fluid). A placebo looks like the study drug but contains no real medicine. - Participants will receive BIIB080 or placebo once every 12 weeks or 24 weeks. - After 76 weeks of treatment in the Placebo-Controlled Period, eligible participants will move onto the Extension Treatment period, which will last 96 weeks. - In the extension period, participants who received placebo will be switched to high dose BIIB080 every 12 or 24 weeks. - Participants may be in the study for up to 201 weeks, or about 4 years. This includes the screening and follow-up periods. - Participants can continue to take certain medications for AD. Participants must be on the same dose of medication for at least 8 weeks before the screening period. - After the screening period, most participants will visit the clinic every 6 weeks.
Lung cancer (CaP) is the leading cause of cancer related deaths on a global level. Early diagnosis is vital for survival and life quality of the affected patients, yet lung cancer is often diagnosed at advanced stages, causing poor five-year survival rates. Exhaled breath particles (EBP) and particle flow rate (PFR) collected by the particles in exhaled air (PExA) system is a safe and easily reproducible non-invasive method for gaining insight into the molecular environment of the distal airways. EBP and PFR have been found useful in detection of other airway diseases such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), primary graft dysfunction (PGD) and bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS). It has been shown that particles found in EBP reflect the general composition of respiratory tract lining fluid (RTLF) and that biomarkers found in EBP correlate to proteins that can be found in both bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and plasma. Particle flow rate (PFR) has been found to differ between patients with lung cancer compared to control patients. In the present study the investigators aim to collect EBP samples and measure PFR from patients with primary lung cancer and from control patients. EBPs are collected for molecular analysis. The investigators aim to identify biomarkers for diagnosing, predicting prognosis of and evaluating surgical treatment of non small cell lung cancer.
