There are about 8563 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Sweden. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This clinical observational study investigates perioperative oxygen consumption and delivery in elderly patients undergoing major surgery. The primary objectives are to characterise the perioperative oxygen delivery, consumption and potential markers of oxygen debt. Secondary objective is to estimate the correlation between oxygen delivery/consumption and postoperative outcomes to guide the design of a future trial.
Study to investigate if the study drug ticagrelor and ASA is more effective than Placebo (inactive tablet) and ASA in preventing new stroke events
The aim of this project is to explore if monitoring physical activity including feedback can have any effect on physical activity level, function, work ability, health related quality of life or work productivity among individuals with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis. This will be performed by evaluating the use of mobile technology and activity monitoring to support physical activity in individuals with OA in a cluster randomized controlled trial. The investigators research questions are: • Can an intervention, comprised of the above mentioned technology, have any effect on physical activity level, function, work ability, quality of life or work productivity among individuals with OA?
To evaluate if Internet delivered emotion regulation individual therapy for adolescents is an efficacious treatment when delivered as adjunctive to treatment as usual compared to a control group consisting of treatment as usual.
This study will compare an oxygenation test based on arterial blood gas analysis with computed tomography for estimating the extent of atelectasis.
A study on healthy patients undergoing anesthesia for non-abdominal surgery - evaluation of positive end-expiratory pressure versus zero positive end-expiratory pressure on the amount of atelectasis in the early postoperative period.
Peripheral intravenous cannulas (PIVCs) are utilized in large scale in modern health care. Known complications due to a PIVC are phlebitis, thrombosis, bleeding, nerve damage and infection. PIVC-related infection causes morbidity, mortality and increased healthcare costs. PIVC-related infections can and should be prevented. Indwell time is a known risk factor for PIVC-related infection. Another factor potentially influencing the risk of developing PIVC-related infection is what type of PIVC that is being used. Roughly there are two types of PIVCs. One with an open injection valve and another with a closed injection valve. The former being far more used in our hospital and the latter being suggested as lowering the risk of PIVC-related infection compared to the open one. The investigators aim with this study is to evaluate the incidence of PIVC-colonization in 300 patients at our 500-bed secondary level hospital in Sweden, as a first step in trying to understand what healthcare-providers can improve regarding prevention of PIVC-related infections.
The overall purpose of this project is to evaluate the effects of a family therapy intervention for grieving families with children. The main outcome variable is family communication.
The Placebo-Controlled Effectiveness in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) Shunting (PENS) trial is a multi-center blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled design investigation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt surgery to study the shunt effectiveness in iNPH patients.
Dietary antioxidants might protect from the development of chronic diseases by reducing levels of oxidative stress. The investigators therefore investigated the effect of dietary Non Enzymatic Antioxidant Capacity, which measures interactions between antioxidants in the whole diet, on the risk of 1) myocardial infarction and 2) osteoarthritis.
