NCT ID: NCT03069027 Completed - Clinical trials for Agitation States as Acute Reaction to Gross Stress

Efficacy of External Nasal Nerve Block in Prevention of Postoperative Agitation Following Nasal Surgeries

Start date: August 15, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Emergence agitation following general anaesthesia may lead to serious complications like self-extubation or removal of catheters, which can lead to hypoxia, aspiration pneumonia, bleeding or reoperation. Nose surgery is associated with a higher incidence of emergence agitation. The investigators planned to evaluate the efficacy of external nasal nerve block in prevention of postoperative agitation following external nasal surgeries under general anesthesia(GA).

NCT ID: NCT03068182 Completed - Clinical trials for Heart Rate Variability

Effects of Arm Crank Versus Treadmill Exercises on Heart Rate Variability in Adult Subjects.

Start date: September 1, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cardiovascular response to exercise affects the capacity of all body organs depending upon intensity, duration and mode of exercises. The aim was to compare acute effects of arm crank with treadmill moderate intensity exercises on heart rate variability in normal participants.

NCT ID: NCT03039777 Completed - Clinical trials for Hemodialysis Catheter Infection

Procalcitonin Level as a Surrogate for Catheter-related Blood Stream Bacteremia Among Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: September 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Hemodialysis patients frequently develop catheter-related blood stream bacteremia (CRBSI). Procalcitonin is a marker of sepsis in bacterial infection. this study for detection of its role as a surrogacy marker in CRBSI.

NCT ID: NCT03037697 Completed - Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Axial Stability on Improving Gait and Balance Performance in Children With Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy

Start date: January 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study will be to evaluate the effect of TheraTogs orthotic undergarment and strapping system on increasing axial stability that will reflect on improving balance and walking performance in children with dyskinetic cerebral palsy.

NCT ID: NCT03035084 Completed - Clinical trials for Vitamin D Deficiency

Is Vitamin D2 Treatment-associated Decrease in 25(OH)D3 Level a Reciprocal Phenomena?

Start date: February 15, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Several studies have demonstrated that D2 treatment is associated with a decrease in 25(OH)D3 level and therefore have proposed that D3 would be preferable in term of raising total 25(OH)D level. The investigators postulate that the D2 treatment-associated decrease in 25(OH)D3 level may be related to an increase in total 25(OH)D level rather than being specific to D2 treatment, and thus there would be a D3 treatment-associated decrease in 25(OH)D2 level. The investigators plan to conduct a double-blind placebo-controlled trial to examine the effect of D3 treatment on 25(OH)D2 level and the effect of D2 treatment on 25(OH)D3 leve

NCT ID: NCT03023020 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Management of High Bleeding Risk Patients Post Bioresorbable Polymer Coated Stent Implantation With an Abbreviated Versus Prolonged DAPT Regimen

MASTER DAPT
Start date: April 4, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study compares two lengths of medication therapy (a shortened versus a prolonged dual antiplatelet therapy) in order to prevent thrombus (blood cloth) formation after the successfully treatment for coronary heart disease with a drug covered stent (metallic tube). This comparison will be done in patients who, compared to the average patient, are more likely to suffer from complications on antiplatelet therapy (bleeding). Both durations are within the current medical recommendations. The aim of this study is to help improve further standard antiplatelet duration guidelines.

NCT ID: NCT03006198 Completed - Clinical trials for Arthritis, Rheumatoid; Spondylitis, Ankylosing; Arthritis, Psoriatic; Colitis, Ulcerative

Tracking Biologics Along the Silk Road

HARIR
Start date: February 4, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The objective of this study is to explore and describe the disease characteristics, treatment and outcomes of participants with rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's Disease or ulcerative colitis as the major disease treated with REMICADE, SIMPONI or STELARA in clinical practice in the emerging regions of North Africa, the Middle East, and Western Asia.

NCT ID: NCT03005145 Completed - Sepsis Clinical Trials

Bacteremia Antibiotic Length Actually Needed for Clinical Effectiveness

BALANCE
Start date: February 24, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The World Health Organization, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (AMMI) Canada, and Health Canada have all declared antimicrobial resistance a global threat to health, based on rapidly increasing resistance rates and declining new drug development. Up to 30-50% of antibiotic use is inappropriate, and excessive durations of treatment are the greatest contributor to inappropriate use. Shorter duration treatment (≤7 days) has been shown in meta-analyses to be as effective as longer antibiotic treatment for a range of mild to moderate infections. A landmark trial in critically ill patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia showed that mortality and relapse rates were non-inferior in patients who received 8 vs 15 days of treatment. Similar adequately powered randomized trial evidence is lacking for the treatment of patients with bloodstream infections caused by a wide spectrum of organisms.

NCT ID: NCT02998125 Completed - Clinical trials for Total Knee Arthroplasty

An Exploration of Outcomes Post-total Knee Arthroplasty in Middle East

Start date: March 1, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The intention is to explore whether there are factors, which can help us to understand why some patient outcomes, following total knee arthroplasty are not successful and identify prediction factors for progression. Assessment of outcomes pre- and post-surgery with objective tools is a way to explore prediction tools for good/poor progression and improve patient selection and timing for surgery. The first aim of this project is determine the psychometric properties of the Arabic Version of Oxford Knee Score, including internal consistency, reliability and validity before and post-total knee arthroplasty in both males and females in a Middle East population. The second aim is to assess the reliability of the Star Excursion Balance Test for measuring the dynamic balance. The final aim is explore outcomes post-total knee arthroplasty among Middle East patients using the Arabic Version of Oxford Knee Score, physical activity measures and performance-based measurements such as: 30 s chair-stand test, stair-climb test, timed up-and-go test and a 6 m walk test while adhering to Osteoarthritis Research Society International recommendations.

NCT ID: NCT02993224 Completed - Clinical trials for Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia

Start date: July 27, 2017
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional
