Correlation Fear of COVID-19 & Dental Treatment Anxiety

Start date: June 16, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Purpose: COVID-19 Pandemic has created fears, anxiety and worries among general population. COVID-19 airborne transmission is possible under circumstances in which procedures generate aerosols. Various dental treatment procedures can generate aerosols. This Cross Sectional Observational study was conducted with the following objectives: 1. Assessment of Fear of COVID-19 among netizens in Al Qassim province using FEAR OF COVID-19, a 5 item Likert Scale. 2. Assessment of Dental Anxiety among netizens in Al Qassim provincen using (MDA) Modified Dental Anxiety 5 item Likert Scale. Methods: Sample size was (n=385) estimated based on the population size in Al Qassim province (Confidence Interval 95%, Design effect 1 & hypothesized % frequency of outcome factor of 50%). Assessment of Fear of COVID-19 was estimated using FEAR OF COVID-19, a 5 item Likert Scale. Assessment of Dental Anxiety was estimated using Modified Dental Anxiety 5 item Likert Scale. An online Survey form (Arabic & English) was developed using Google form application. The Google form link was shared to the netizens of Al Qassim province, across Social media platforms. Statistical analysis is done using SPSS 22.00 software program.

NCT ID: NCT04497597 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

A Study of Oral Upadacitinib Tablets to Assess Treatment Patterns, Achievement of Treatment Targets and Maintenance of Response in Adult Participants With Moderate to Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis

UPHOLD
Start date: October 16, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of the joints causing pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of joint function. Despite the range of treatment options for RA steadily increasing, many patients remain sub-optimally managed, with sustained clinical remission rarely achieved. This study will assess the treatment patterns, achievement of treatment targets and maintenance of response. Upadacitinib is a drug approved for the treatment of moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. Adult participants with moderate to severe RA who have been prescribed upadacitinib by their physicians will be enrolled. Approximately, 1660 participants will be enrolled this study, worldwide. Participants will not receive Upadacitinib as part of this study, but will be followed for response to treatment for up to 24 months. There may be higher burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits, every 3 months, during the course of the study at a hospital or clinic and will be asked to provide additional information by questionnaire at each visit.

Start date: January 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose: Characterize changes in intraocular pressure (IOP), IOP-lowering medications, and visual acuity (VA) through 3 years in patients undergoing combined phacoemulsification and excisional goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade (phaco-KDB), with simultaneous goniosynechialysis in cases of angle-closure glaucoma, by a single surgeon (A.H.) in King Fahd Hospital of the University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. NCT ID: NCT04476069 Completed - Pain Management Clinical Trials

Ibuprofen as a Pain Management in Pediatric Dentistry

Start date: January 10, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Abstract Introduction: Administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) before tooth extraction may reduce post-surgical pain, but there is a lack of research. Aims: To compare pain and anxiety in pediatric tooth extraction patients receiving a preoperative NSAID vs. placebo. Design: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Setting: Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University's (PNU's) dental clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: Eligible pediatric tooth extraction patients were randomized to Group A, which received NSAID preoperatively, or Group B, which received placebo. Interventions: A research coordinator (RC) measured participants prior to extraction, and 3- and 24-hours post-extraction. Main Outcome Methods: The Wong-Baker FACES scale (WBFS) and the Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale - Faces (MCDASf).
