NCT ID: NCT00518323 Completed - Schizophrenia Clinical Trials

A Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Paliperidone Extended Release (ER) in the Treatment of Schizophrenia in Adolescent Patients

Start date: August 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of 3 weight-based, fixed-dose groups of paliperidone extended release (ER) compared with placebo in adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age, who are diagnosed with schizophrenia. Paliperidone ER is an atypical antipsychotic agent approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults. Patients may be voluntary inpatients or outpatients at the time of the screening visit, but should have returned to their usual living situation by Day 21 of the double-blind treatment phase. The study duration is approximately 10 weeks. Patients who have completed this study or who were discontinued from this study due to lack of efficacy but have completed at least 21 days of double-blind treatment and are expected to benefit from paliperidone treatment, may enter an optional open-label safety study.

NCT ID: NCT00516321 Completed - Clinical trials for Hepatitis C, Chronic

Eltrombopag To Initiate And Maintain Interferon Antiviral Treatment To Subjects With Hepatitis C Related Liver Disease

Start date: October 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of eltrombopag to maintain a platelet count sufficient to facilitate initiation of antiviral therapy, to minimise antiviral therapy dose reductions and to avoid permanent discontinuation of antiviral therapy. The clinical benefit of eltrombopag will be measured by the proportion of subjects who are able to achieve a Sustained Virological Response (SVR).

NCT ID: NCT00514527 Completed - Wounds and Injuries Clinical Trials

A Study for Patients With Complicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections

SIMPLIFI
Start date: August 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Two Phase III trials to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of oritavancin in the treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI) have been completed. The pharmacokinetic profile of oritavancin in humans suggests that oritavancin has the potential to be used safely and effectively when given either as a single dose or as an infrequent dose for cSSSI. Data from animals support this theory. SIMPLIFI has been designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of either a single dose of oritavancin or an infrequent dose of oritavancin (First dose on Day one with an option for a second dose on Day five) compared to the previously studied dosing regimen of 200mg oritavancin given once daily for 3 to 7 days.

NCT ID: NCT00509145 Completed - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy of Orally Administered Laquinimod Versus Placebo for Treatment of Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS)

ALLEGRO
Start date: November 13, 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Determination the efficacy of daily oral treatment with laquinimod 0.6 mg capsules as compared to placebo in subjects with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS).

NCT ID: NCT00509106 Completed - Bacterial Pneumonia Clinical Trials

Comparative Study of Ceftaroline vs. Ceftriaxone in Adults With Community-Acquired Pneumonia

CAP
Start date: July 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine if the antibiotic ceftaroline is safe and effective in the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia in adults.

NCT ID: NCT00507429 Terminated - Clinical trials for Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

Study of Combretastatin and Paclitaxel/Carboplatin in the Treatment of Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

FACT
Start date: August 2007
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine the safety and efficacy of combretastatin combined with paclitaxel and carboplatin in the treatment of anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC).

NCT ID: NCT00501722 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Satavaptan Dose-Ranging Study in Hyponatraemic Patients With Cirrhotic Ascites

Hypo~CAT
Start date: April 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to determine the optimal dose or range of doses of SR121463B for the treatment of ascites and the correction of hyponatraemia when used concomitantly with a standard dose regimen of spironolactone. The secondary objective is to determine the tolerability of different fixed doses of SR121463B over a 14 day treatment period in cirrhotic ascites. This Hypo~CAT study is followed by a single-blind, placebo-controlled, one-year long-term safety extension (Expo~CAT). The first extension is followed by another long-term study (PASCCAL-1).

NCT ID: NCT00501566 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Satavaptan Dose-Ranging Study in Normonatraemic Patients With Cirrhotic Ascites

Normo~CAT
Start date: April 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to determine the optimal dose or range of doses of SR121463B for the treatment of ascites when used concomitantly with a standard dose regimen of spironolactone and furosemide. The secondary objective is to determine the tolerability of different fixed doses of SR121463B over a 14 day treatment period in cirrhotic ascites.
