This is a Phase III, multicenter, open-label extension, single-group study in male and female outpatients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD) who have completed either AVA102670 or AVA102672. All subjects will receive rosiglitazone extended-release (RSG XR) 4mg once daily for the first 4 weeks of the study followed by 8mg RSG XR as adjunctive therapy to their existing dose of acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Subject participation will last until one of 5 conditions applies. After a 52-week open-label treatment phase, subjects will attend a final Follow-Up Visit 6 weeks after the end of treatment. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of RSG XR in subjects with mild-to-moderate AD who have completed either AVA102670 or AVA102672. The secondary objective of this study is to explore further the long-term efficacy of RSG XR in terms of cognitive function and overall clinical response as a function of apolipoprotein E (APOE) e4 allele status.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether tapentadol (CG5503) prolonged-release (PR) tablets at doses of 100-250 mg twice daily provide a better pain relief in patients with moderate to severe chronic pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee than a placebo (a medication without active substance). In addition the tolerability of CG5503 PR will be assessed. One third of the patients will receive CG5503 and one third will receive placebo. For further comparison one third of the patients will receive oxycodone controlled release (CR) at doses of 20-50 mg twice daily which is an active approved pain medication. Please note that tapentadol ER (Extended Release) and tapentadol PR (Prolonged Release) are identical and used interchangeably. This is due to United States of America and European naming conventions.
This 2-arm study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab (Avastin) in combination with rituximab (MabThera) and CHOP (cyclophosphamide, hydroxydaunorubicin [doxorubicin], Oncovin [vincristine], prednisone) chemotherapy (R-CHOP) versus rituximab plus CHOP chemotherapy (R-CHOP) in previously untreated patients with CD20-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Patients were randomized to receive 8 cycles of treatment with R-CHOP plus bevacizumab or R-CHOP plus placebo. Treatment with bevacizumab/placebo and R-CHOP was given either on a 2-week or 3-week schedule and bevacizumab was given at a weekly average dose of 5 mg/kg (10 mg/kg for 2-week cycles and 15 mg/kg for 3-week cycles).
A new immunosuppressive drug, based on the inhibition of an important enzyme in the immune system called JAK3, is being developed by Pfizer to prevent transplant rejection. In this research study, a JAK3 inhibitor or cyclosporine will be given to new kidney transplant patients for 12 months. Patients will be assigned to one of three treatment groups after receiving a kidney transplant. Two of the treatment groups will receive 2 different dosing regimens of the JAK3 inhibitor that will be taken by mouth. The third treatment group will be a standard-of-care control arm. Patients will continue to take the assigned study medication for 12 months as well as other standard transplant medications such as prednisone.
The primary objective is to assess the effect of rimonabant compared to placebo on weight loss over a period of 6 months when prescribed with a mild hypocaloric diet in obese patients with binge eating disorder. The secondary objectives are: - to assess the effect of rimonabant on the number of binge episodes per week, to assess the effect of rimonabant on eating behavior using the Binge Eating Scale (BES) and Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ), - to evaluate the safety and tolerability of rimonabant over a period of 6 months.
This study is a cross-sectional observational study to evaluate the prevalence of HLA-B*5701 in the European area and in major European ethnotypes. Any HIV-1 infected patient will be eligible for this study including treatment naïve and experienced patients, as well as patients previously tested for HLA-B*5701. Patients will be approached during a standard clinic visit, and will be consented prior to any study specific procedure. They will be asked to provide a tissue sample (cheek cells and blood sample) which will be used to assess HLA-B*5701 status by local and central laboratories. In selected sites patients may be asked to provide an additional blood sample. This sample will be used to develop and validate different methodologies for assessing HLA-B*5701 status.

The purpose of this study is to assess if the study drug, Vardenafil (approved by Health Authorities is available on the market for treatment of erectile dysfunction) has an effect on bladder function and micturition frequency. The study drug is to be taken in the form of tablets twice a day, one tablet in the morning and one tablet in the evening. A non-active treatment (placebo), a sugar pill, will be used as a comparator to see if the new study drug works better than no drug. The timing of visits for the study is as follows: the 1st visit (screening visit) at beginning of run-in-assessment with qualifying tests for patients: electrocardiogram (ECG), safety laboratory and residual urine (by ultrasonography: a non-invasive examination using ultrasound for the assessment of the bladder). 2nd visit (randomization visit). During visit this should be performed: urodynamic measurements (filling cystometry and pressure flow investigations), ECG and safety laboratory. 3rd visit (safety visit) takes place at two up to three weeks of randomized treatment. 4th visit (final visit)-following test should be done: urodynamic measurements (filling cystometry and pressure flow investigations), ECG, safety laboratory and residual urine (by ultrasonography); A phone call 24 hours after visit 4 to assess any SAEs.
