There are about 3156 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Portugal. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to identify ocular biomarkers that can predict the success of phacoemulsification with bilateral AT LISA try 839MP (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) implantation to achieve satisfactory post-post-operativly spectacle-free vision. Social, biometric and patient reported outcomes will be evaluated.
The goal of this prospective multicentric study is to evaluate the presence of long-term pulmonary sequelae in patients who had required hospitalization for treating COVID-19 pneumonia, trough chest CT and pulmonary function tests (PFT). Secondly we would like to evaluate the possible correlation between the chest CT findings and pulmonary function tests pre-existing co-morbidities and type of therapy used during hospitalization.
A total of 18 military pilots in their tirocinium in the air force academy from the Portuguese Air Force course "Masters in Military Aeronautics: aviator pilot specialist" participated in this study. Participants were randomly assigned to yoga (intervention group) or waiting list (control group). Procedures were approved by the Évora University research ethics committee and participants will give written informed consent according to the Helsinki declaration (approval number: 21050).
The aim of this study is to determine whether the fasting duration required for patients after consuming oral jelly is comparable to that after consuming water, prior to elective surgery. International guidelines for perioperative fasting recommend abstaining from clear fluids for 2 hours to minimize the risk of regurgitation and aspiration pneumonia. However, there are no specific recommendations regarding the perioperative management of jelly consumption. Current understanding emphasizes the benefits of minimizing preoperative fasting time, including preventing dehydration and metabolic complications like ketoacidosis, as well as potentially enhancing patient satisfaction. Oral jelly consumption may offer advantages by improving preoperative hydration and providing some nutritional support prior to procedures. This crossover study will involve 25 adult volunteers. In the first phase, participants will be randomly assigned to either oral intake of water or jelly, followed by the opposite intervention in the second phase. Gastric content and volume will be assessed using gastric ultrasound.
This is a multicentre retrospective and prospective cohort study with the goal to develop a well-characterised multimodal image database of eyes with intermediate AMD with and without early atrophy. The main objectives are: 1. Develop a collaborative well-characterised database on intermediate AMD with or without early atrophy. 2. Grading of these images to explore imaging markers of progression. 3. Develop predictive models as a secondary analysis of our dataset. This study will recruit around 1.000 eyes in 6 months. All consenting patients who have had at least 3 clinic visits with multimodal imaging done at least at 6 months interval between 2 visits and meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be included in the study for retrospective data collection. Those with one visit remaining to complete 2 years, images will be acquired prospectively. In addition to the images, routine demographic data (age and sex) and available visual acuity (VA) (BCVA if possible, VA with Pinhole or VA with patient's glasses) will be collected. Multimodal imaging includes mandated macular OCT with or without enhanced depth imaging and infrared imaging. Fundus autofluorescence (AF) and multicolor imaging are optional. All imaging must be done on Heidelberg Spectralis system.
The co-primary objectives of the study are to: - Evaluate the efficacy of rocatinlimab compared with placebo at Week 24, assessed using Validated Investigator's Global Assessment for Atopic Dermatitis (vIGA-AD). - Evaluate the efficacy of rocatinlimab compared with placebo at Week 24, assessed using Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI).
This study will look at how much weight participants will lose and how much blood sugar control they achieve from the start to the end of the study. The weight loss in participants taking the investigational high dose of semaglutide will be compared to the weight loss in people taking "dummy" medicine and a lower dose of semaglutide. In addition to taking the medicine, participants will have talks with study staff about healthy food choices and how to be more physically active. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants are more likely (4 out of 5) to get semaglutide than the "dummy" medicine. The study medicine will be injected briefly, under skin, with a thin needle, typically in the stomach, thighs, or upper arms. After receiving first dose, the dose of semaglutide will be gradually increased until reaching the target dose. The study will last for about 1.5 years.

The study medicine will be injected briefly, under skin, with a thin needle, typically in the stomach, thighs, or upper arms. In the first part of the study, participants will get one injection once a week until they reach the planned dose. The second part of the study, which might last a couple of months, is a transition period, where participant will get three injections, taken right after each other, once a week. The duration of the study intervention (trial product and lifestyle intervention) will be 72 weeks followed by a 9-week follow-up period without study interventions.
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a skin condition that may cause a rash and itching due to inflammation of the skin. Therapies spread over the skin may not be enough to control the AD in trial participants who require systemic anti-inflammatory treatment. This study compares upadacitinib to dupilumab in adolescent and adult participants with moderate to severe AD who have inadequate response to systemic therapies. Adverse events and change in the disease activity will be assessed. Upadacitinib and dupilumab are approved drugs for the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD). The study is comprised of a 35-day Screening Period, a 16-week treatment period 1 and a 16-week treatment period 2. During period 1, participants are randomly assigned in 1 of 2 groups, called treatment arms to receive upadacitinib Dose A or dupilumab. In Period 2, participants will receive upadacitinib Dose A or Dose B. Approximately 880 adolescent and adult participants ages 12 to 64 with moderate to severe AD who are candidates for systemic therapy will be enrolled at up to 330 sites worldwide. Participants will receive upadacitinib oral tablets once daily or dupilumab as per its label for 32 weeks and followed for 30 days. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care . Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.
The goal of this observational study is to evaluate the outcome of a Poly-ether-ether-ketone - acrylic resin prosthesis for full-arch rehabilitation of the atrophic maxillae through the All-on-4 concept after five years of follow-up. The main question it aims to answer is: - What is the survival outcome of the full-arch implant-supported Poly-ether-ether-ketone - acrylic resin prosthesis? The participants already rehabilitated with dental implants will receive a Poly-ether-ehter-ketone prosthesis as a definitive prosthesis.
