Combination Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Rhabdomyosarcoma

This randomized phase III trial is studying two different combination chemotherapy regimens to compare how well they work when given together with radiation therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed rhabdomyosarcoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine sulfate, dactinomycin, cyclophosphamide, and irinotecan hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which combination chemotherapy regimen is more effective when given together with radiation therapy in treating patients with rhabdomyosarcoma.

Mixed or combined hyperlipidemia is a common metabolic disorder characterized by both hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. Statins and fibrates have complementary mechanisms and can be coadministered to patients with mixed hyperlipidemia. The overall objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combining fenofibrate and simvastatin in patients with mixed hyperlipidemia at risk of cardiovascular diseases.

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of belinostat when given together with azacitidine in treating patients with advanced hematologic cancers or other diseases. Belinostat may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as azacitidine, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving belinostat together with azacitidine may kill more cancer cells.

An open-label, dose-adjustment, extension study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of eltrombopag for the treatment of subjects with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) who have previously been enrolled in an eltrombopag trial. This study will allow adjustment of the eltrombopag dose to achieve an individualized dose and schedule for each subject. In addition, the ability to reduce the dose of concomitant ITP medications in the presence of eltrombopag, while maintaining platelet counts = 50,000/microL will be investigated.

Intra-coronary thrombosis and thromboembolism continues to be a challenge for percutaneous coronary and other vascular interventional techniques. The Xtractâ„¢ Aspiration Catheter is a single use device designed to remove fresh, soft emboli and thrombi from the arterial system using standard catheter techniques, compatible with 6 Fr guide catheters and 0.014 guidewires. The purpose of this registry study is to validate the design and demonstrate the performance of the Xtract Aspiration Catheter as a thrombectomy catheter during percutaneous intervention of vessels in the arterial system. Subjects will be enrolled during percutaneous intervention when the Interventional Physician decides a thrombectomy catheter is needed to remove thrombus during the procedure.

A Study of Avastin (Bevacizumab) in Combination With XELOX or FOLFOX-4 in Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer.

This 2 arm study will compare the pharmacokinetics and safety of Avastin at steady state under 2 different dosing regimens, in combination with XELOX (oxaliplatin + Xeloda) or FOLFOX-4 (oxaliplatin, leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil). Patients randomized to the XELOX arm will receive Avastin (7.5mg/kg iv) on Day 1 of each 3 week cycle; patients randomized to the FOLFOX-4 arm will receive Avastin (5mg/kg iv) on Day 1 of each 2 week cycle. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is <100 individuals.

Repeat Doses Of A New Medication (GW642444) In Asthmatic Patients

In order to obtain information on a wider range of doses of GW642444 (a possible new medication to treat asthma) than has been previously examined in asthmatic patients, this current study will be conducted at doses of 25 100 and 400 mcg of GW642444 and will be compared with salmeterol (50 mcg twice daily). This study will be conducted in a similar manner to a study that has already been completed (study number B2C101762) which examined repeat doses of 50, 100 and 200 mcg of GW642444. The data obtained will compliment the data from study B2C101762 and will provide confidence (or not) that the desired bronchodilation can be achieved and maintained without undesirable side effects.

Observation, Radiation Therapy, Combination Chemotherapy, and/or Surgery in Treating Young Patients With Soft Tissue Sarcoma

This phase III trial is studying observation to see how well a risk based treatment strategy works in patients with soft tissue sarcoma. In the study, patients are assigned to receive surgery +/- radiotherapy +/- chemotherapy depending on their risk of recurrence. Sometimes, after surgery, the tumor may not need additional treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as ifosfamide and doxorubicin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving chemotherapy and radiation therapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. Giving these treatments after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery.
