NCT ID: NCT01659879 Completed - Clinical trials for Health Communication

Multimedia Based Information to Parents in a Pediatric Acute Ward: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Start date: January 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to determine whether multimedia based health information presented in a pediatric acute ward to parents of children with breathing difficulties due to lower respiratory tract infections, is more effective than verbal information to reduce the parent's anxiety and to increase satisfaction with nursing care and health information.

NCT ID: NCT01659723 Completed - Clinical trials for Cystitis, Radio Induced

Radiation Induced Cystitis Treated With Hyperbaric Oxygen - A Randomized Controlled Trial

RICH-ART
Start date: August 2012
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to assess the relief of symptoms after Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in patients with late radiation cystitis by having Expanded Prostate cancer Index Composite (EPIC)symptom estimation scale as primary variable. Study hypothesis: - HBOT can reduce or reverse the change or otherwise limit the damage of the bladder function and/or structure, which arose as a result of radiation therapy of cancer in the pelvic region organs. - The effects of HBOT are associated with relief of symptoms that, at least in part, is related to the reduction of the extent of the radiation damage. - Vascular density increases, fibrosis prevalence and inflammatory activity are reduced as a sign of an improved function of the mucosa. - Treatment results of HBOT remains, in whole or in part, during the follow-up (residual effect)

NCT ID: NCT01659606 Active, not recruiting - Aplastic Anemia Clinical Trials

Radiation- and Alkylator-free Bone Marrow Transplantation Regimen for Patients With Dyskeratosis Congenita

Start date: July 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Dyskeratosis congenita is a disease that affects numerous parts of the body, most typically causing failure of the blood system. Lung disease, liver disease and cancer are other frequent causes of illness and death. Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) can cure the blood system but can make the lung and liver disease and risk of cancer worse, because of DNA damaging agents such as alkylators and radiation that are typically used in the procedure. Based on the biology of DC, we hypothesize that it may be possible to avoid these DNA damaging agents in patients with DC, and still have a successful BMT. In this protocol we will test whether a regimen that avoids DNA alkylators and radiation can permit successful BMT without compromising survival in patients with DC.

NCT ID: NCT01658930 Active, not recruiting - Cervical Cancer Clinical Trials

Radical Versus Simple Hysterectomy and Pelvic Node Dissection With Low-risk Early Stage Cervical Cancer

SHAPE
Start date: December 10, 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The reason this study is being done is to see if a simple hysterectomy is as good as a radical hysterectomy in preventing cancer of the cervix from returning, and whether, because less tissue surrounding the uterus is removed during surgery, there are fewer side-effects after the surgery and in the long-term.

NCT ID: NCT01656317 Completed - SAH Clinical Trials

Rehabilitation of Patients After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

SAH
Start date: January 1, 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study's main objective will be to assess which effect early initiated rehabilitation has on the frequency of complications and the level of physical and cognitive functioning after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). To this end the following aspects will be investigated: The frequency of complications (with special emphasis on pulmonary complications, thromboembolic events, cerebral vasospasm, unintended discontinuation of drains and lines) - Length of stay in hospitals and socio-economic impact - Physical and cognitive function in the early and chronic phase after SAH - Health-related quality of life and participation in society in the chronic phase

NCT ID: NCT01655069 Completed - Clinical trials for Urinary Bladder, Overactive

A Study to Investigate How Safe and Effective Solifenacin Solution is in Treating Children/Adolescents With Symptoms of Overactive Bladder (OAB) Who Completed Study 905-CL-076

LEOPARD
Start date: October 4, 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This was a 40-week study to investigate how safe and effective solifenacin solution was in treating children or adolescents with symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB), who completed study 905-CL-076 (NCT01565707).

NCT ID: NCT01653860 Completed - Domestic Violence Clinical Trials

Partner Violence and Anger Management

Start date: July 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the Brøset anger management model in reducing violent behavior amongst clients who are violent in intimate partnerships and who voluntarily seek help. Violence in intimate partnerships constitutes a serious problem worldwide and there is reason to believe that cognitive behavior therapy has some effect on the reduction of violent behavior. However, there are currently too few randomized controlled studies to conclude about the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy for this client group.

NCT ID: NCT01646125 Terminated - Clinical trials for Advanced Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

An Open-label, Randomized Phase II Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of AUY922 vs Pemetrexed or Docetaxel in NSCLC Patients With EGFR Mutations

Start date: November 23, 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to determine if AUY922 had superior efficacy when compared to chemotherapy agents docetaxel or pemetrexed in patients whose tumor had EGFR mutations. The primary purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of AUY922, when administered i.v. on a once-weekly schedule at 70 mg/m2, versus docetaxel or pemetrexed in adult patients with advanced NSCLC, whose tumors harbored EGFR activating mutations, and had developed resistance to EGFR TKI.

NCT ID: NCT01642004 Completed - Clinical trials for Squamous Cell Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Study of BMS-936558 (Nivolumab) Compared to Docetaxel in Previously Treated Advanced or Metastatic Squamous Cell Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) (CheckMate 017)

Start date: October 16, 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to compare the overall survival of BMS-936558 as compared with Docetaxel in subjects with squamous cell non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), after failure of prior platinum-based chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT01641055 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

A Study of the Effects of Fish Protein Intake on Glucose Regulation in Overweight and Obese Adults.

FISK3
Start date: July 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the possible health benefits of intake of proteins from salmon, herring, cod and milk on glucose tolerance in overweight and obese adults. Overweight and obese subjects often have reduced glucose tolerance, and previous findings from a study on cod proteins suggested that glucose tolerance was improved.
