A Clinical Decision Support System and Patient Portal for Preventing Medication-related Falls in Older Patients

Falls in older adults represents a growing public health challenge. The use of certain medication is recognized as an important modifiable risk factor for falls. Research indicates fall-risk increasing drug (FRID) deprescribing is effective in reducing falls but difficult to initiate and to sustain over longer periods of follow-up. A clinical decision support system (CDSS) and patient portal for communicating medication-related fall risk to fall clinic patients may improve joint medication management between patients and physicians and consequently reduce the incidence of injurious falls.

Intraperitoneal Paclitaxel for Patients With Primary Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Patients primary malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM), without extra-abdominal disease, that are not eligible (or willing) to undergo cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) can be included in this study. Patients will be treated with intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy (paclitaxel) in weekly cycles. The primary aim of this study is to determine the maximum tolerable dose (MTD) of IP monotherapy with paclitaxel for patients with MPM. The secondary aims are to assess safety and feasibility of this strategy, and to study the pharmacokinetics of paclitaxel in this setting.

Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) is used as a last resort intervention in patients with severe cardiac, circulatory and/or respiratory failure with high (>80%) expected mortality. Despite considerable improvements in patient selection and outcomes, mortality and morbidity after ECLS remain high. An improved selection and management of patients who are supported with ECLS is therefore unquestionably needed from a perspective of optimal patient care and the socio-economic impact of this costly intervention.

Self-management of Stress and Sleep Disturbances With Virtual Reality Relaxation

Stress is a well-established factor in the onset and continuation of burn-out anxiety, mood and psychotic disorders. Furthermore, sleep disturbances predispose and exacerbate mental health symptoms of the condition. In people with mental health problems, higher (social) stress-reactivity and impaired stress-recovery are present which is further aggravated by sleep disturbances and sleep deprivation. Relaxation reduces the stress, which in turn may reduce mental health symptoms, improve daily life functioning and quality of life. The burden of burn-out and psychiatric illness can be decreased by stress-reducing interventions which have been shown to improve quality of life and social and occupational functioning. Although current stress-reducing interventions appear to be efficacious, it must be taken into account that they require mental effort (i.e. attention and concentration of patients) which is often impaired in patients. To bridge this gap, a new e-Health application was developed called VRelax. VRelax is a virtual reality self-management stress-reduction tool (VRelax). This tool requires far less effort than traditional relaxation exercises due to its immersive properties, and has an immediate effect on perceived stress and emotional mental states. In this study, the short-, medium- and long term effect of VRelax + treatment as usual (TAU) compared to TAU and relaxation exercises on symptomatic recovery, level of social functioning, healthcare consumption and societal costs will be investigated.

Improving Personal Recovery After Depression With a Blended Module (STAIRS)

Almost all mental healthcare treatments of depression focus on symptomatic recovery. However, such recovery does not inherently mean that personal recovery is reached. In fact, many persons still experience functional impairments after symptomatic recovery. As this has a negative influence on daily life, a new blended module (STAIRS) was developed to promote personal recovery in persons that are in the final stage of symptomatic recovery from depression. The current study will investigate the efficacy of STAIRS, by adding STAIRS to care as usual and comparing it with care as usual. It is hypothesized that STAIRS will have a positive effect on personal recovery and that this effect is larger than in the control group.

Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a malignant cardiac arrhythmia subjecting our patients to a high risk of sudden death, increased morbidity and reduced quality of life. Unfortunately, failure of treatment is common and VT recurrences remain an important concern. In these patients, stereotactic arrhythmia radiotherapy appears to be an effective and safe treatment. The mechanism of action however remains unknown and should be elucidated. The objective of this phase 2, single arm, monocenter, pre-post intervention study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of stereotactic arrhythmia radiotherapy and obtain insights in the mechanism of action by evaluating electro-anatomical alterations of stereotactic arrhythmia radiotherapy in patients with therapy refractory ventricular tachycardia.

A Study to Describe the Effectiveness of Arrhythmia Analysis Software for Screening of Sinus Rhythm, Atrial Fibrillation and Premature Beats in light-and Dark Skin Tone Patients

The purpose of this study is to describe the Huawei'ssoftware ("Arrhythmia Analysis Software") for the detection of atrial fibrillation, premature beats, and sinus rhythm using photoplethysmography (PPG). Data derived from a wearable device with a PPG sensor (watch or band) in patients with light skin or dark skin tones will be used as an index test. The Huawei software is intended as a pre-screening technology. It should identify candidates who may benefit from further evaluation. The software is not intended to be a diagnostic system.

A Study to Investigate the Efficacy and Safety of Brepocitinib in Adults With Dermatomyositis

This is a phase 3, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study of treatment with brepocitinib (TYK2/JAK1 inhibitor) in adults with dermatomyositis (DM). The primary objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of two dose levels of brepocitinib in comparison to placebo, as measured by differences in the Total Improvement Score (TIS). After 52 weeks of double-blind treatment, participants have the option to continue therapy in a 52 week open-label extension phase where all participants will receive brepocitinib.
