There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a risk-adapted, minimal-residual-disease directed therapy for young adults with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia has positive results in terms of overall survival at 24 months.
The purpose of the study is to determine whether the addition of Ipilimumab to Etoposide and Platinum therapy will extend the lives of patients with Extensive-Stage Disease Small Cell Lung Cancer (ED-SCLC) more than Etoposide and Platinum therapy alone.
This randomized, open-label, multicenter, international phase IIIb study will compare the efficacy and safety of two Herceptin (trastuzumab) dosing regimens in combination with cisplatin/capecitabine chemotherapy in patients with metastatic gastric or gastro-esophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Patients who have not received prior treatment for metastatic disease will be randomized to receive Herceptin intravenously either an 8 mg/kg loading dose followed by 6 mg/kg every 3 weeks or an 8 mg/kg loading dose followed by 10 mg/kg every 3 weeks. Capecitabine will be administered for 6 cycles at a dose of 800 mg/m2 orally twice on Days 1-14 of each 3-week cycle, cisplatin will be administered intravenously for 6 cycles at a dose of 80 mg/m2 on Day 1 of each 3-week cycle. Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression occurs.
This study will be conducted in approximately 468 HIV-1 infected antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naïve subjects. Subjects will be randomized 1:1 to receive dolutegravir (DTG) 50 mg once daily (approximately 234 subjects) or darunavir/ritonavir (DRV/r) 800 mg/100 mg once daily (approximately 234 subjects), each in combination with fixed-dose dual nucleoside reverse transriptase inhibitor (NRTI) therapy (either abacavir/lamivudine (ABC/3TC) or tenofovir/emtricitabine (TDF/FTC). Subjects will be stratified by screening HIV-1 RNA and background NRTI selection. The primary analysis will take place after the last subject completes 48 weeks on therapy; an additional analysis will be conducted after the last subject completes Week 96 on study.
Temporary pancreatic duct stent placement during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has been recommended for post-endoscopic pancreatitis (PEP) prophylaxis in high risk patients, including those in whom accidental pancreatic duct cannulation has occurred. However, the optimal duration of stent placement remains an open question. The investigators aim is to assess if immediate stent removal is effective in the prevention of PEP after accidental pancreatic duct cannulation.
This is a multi-center, open-label, dose-finding, phase Ib study to estimate the maximum tolerated dose(s) (MTD(s)) and/or recommended dose(s) for expansion (RDE(s)) for the orally administered combination of BYL719 and MEK162. This combination will be explored in adult patients with advanced CRC, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, NSCLC, ovarian cancer, or other advanced solid tumors and in adult patients with AML or high risk and very high risk MDS, with documented RAS or BRAF mutations. Dose escalation will be guided by a Bayesian logistic regression model with overdose control. At MTD or RDE, four expansion arms will be opened in order to further assess the safety and preliminary activity of the combination of BYL719 and MEK162 in specific patient populations.
The purpose of this study is to compare the sustained virologic response at post treatment Week 12 for each cohort (BMS-790052/Pegylated-interferon alfa 2a (pegIFNα-2a)/Ribavirin (RBV) versus placebo/PegIFNα-2a/RBV).
A single arm, single treatment study is proposed to assess the feasibility of a portable artificial pancreas system outside of a hospital based clinical research center. Adult T1DM patients will use a newly developed platform in conjunction with a subcutaneous insulin infusion pump and a continuous glucose monitor for 18 hours is quasi free conditions (hotel).
Caloric restriction in obese diabetic patients quickly improves glucose control, independently from weight loss. However, the early effects of a very-low calorie diet (VLCD) on insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion in morbidly obese patients with type 2 diabetes are still unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the relative contributions of insulin sensitivity and/or secretion to the improvement in glucose metabolism, after one week of caloric restriction, in severely obese diabetic patients. For this purpose, hyperglycemic clamps were performed in 14 severely obese (BMI> 40 kg/m2) patients with type 2 diabetes in good glucose control (HbA1c <7.5%), before and after 7 days on VLCD 400 kcal/day.
This prospective, multicenter, observational cohort study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of peginterferon alfa (e.g. Pegasys) plus ribavirin and treatment regimens containing direct-acting antivirals in patients with chronic hepatitis C who are treatment-naïve or treatment-experienced and HIV HCV co-infected. Data will be collected from patients receiving treatment according to current Summary of Product Characteristics and local labeling for the duration of their treatment and a 24-week follow-up.
