CONCERTO
Start date: February 20, 2013
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a multinational, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled study followed by active treatment, to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of two doses of oral administration of laquinimod in participants with RRMS. The study has 2 periods: Period 1, the double-blind, placebo-controlled period (up to 24 months) and Period 2, the active treatment period (24 months).

NCT ID: NCT01707771 Completed - Morbid Obesity Clinical Trials

Bariatric Surgery and HDL-cholesterol

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Objective: to assess the effect of gastric bypass on HDL-cholesterol concentration and its Apolipoprotein A4 content at 1 year following bariatric surgery in comparison with a hypocaloric diet. Secondary aim was to measure total cholesterol and triglycerides levels as well as insulin sensitivity after interventions. Summary Background Data: Very few prospective uncontrolled studies have investigated the effects of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) on cardiovascular risk factors. No controlled studies had as primary goal the changes in HDL-cholesterol after gastric bypass. Methods: Forty subjects with a BMI>40 or ≥35 kg/m2 in the presence of diabetes were enrolled. Twenty of them were operated of RYGB while 20 received lifestyle modification suggestions and medical therapy for obesity complications (diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia).

NCT ID: NCT01707719 Completed - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Isolated Erythrocyte Membrane Susceptibility to Photo-oxidative Stress in Alzheimer's Disease

Start date: June 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

High lipid peroxidation and altered antioxidant defenses have been frequently reported in Alzheimer's disease patients. The purpose of this study is to investigate susceptibility to photo-oxidation of isolated erythrocyte membranes, in patients affected by Alzheimer's disease and age- and sex-matched, non demented subjects.

NCT ID: NCT01706575 Completed - Clinical trials for Hepatitis B, Chronic

A Study of Pegasys (Peginterferon Alfa-2a) Added to Nucleos(t)Ide Analogue Treatment in Patients With HBeAg-Negative Chronic Hepatitis B Genotype D Showing Stable HBV DNA Suppression

Start date: April 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This open-label, single-arm, multicenter study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of adding Pegasys (peginterferon alfa-2a) to nucleos(t)ide analogue (NAs) treatment in patients with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B genotype D showing stable HBV DNA suppression. After a 12-week Lead-in period on treatment with NA, patients with a HBsAg decline <0.5 log10 IU/ml will enter the Add-on period to receive Pegasys 180 mcg subcutaneously weekly for 48 weeks in addition to their current NA treatment. Follow-up will be a further 48 weeks, during which the patients will continue their NA treatment.

NCT ID: NCT01705977 Completed - Clinical trials for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Belimumab Assessment of Safety in SLE

BASE
Start date: November 27, 2012
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to further enhance the existing knowledge regarding the side effects of belimumab when given with other lupus medicines to adults with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This study mainly focuses on collecting information on serious events that are not that common or may only be seen with long-term treatment. These events include death, serious infections and other infections of interest, cancers, serious mental health problems, including depression and suicide, and serious infusion and hypersensitivity reactions. This study is being done to help understand if treatment with belimumab increases the risk for these types of events. This study will also see if patients receiving belimumab with other lupus medicines can reduce their use of steroids, such as prednisone, over 1 year.

NCT ID: NCT01705704 Completed - Clinical trials for Hepatitis B, Chronic

A Retrospective Biomarker Study of Stored Samples Obtained From Patients With Chronic Hepatitis B

Start date: June 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This retrospective study will evaluate the association of biomarkers and the treatment response of patients with chronic hepatitis B, who have completed therapy with Pegasys (peginterferon alfa-2a) ± lamivudine. For the analysis stored serum samples obtained from patients will be used; no actual patients are involved.
