There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Several studies investigated the role of specific clinical predictors of weaning success, but it is determined by a combination of different aspects that can result in success or failure. Indeed, unresolved lung disease, cardiac dysfunction, loss of respiratory and core muscle strength can play a role in a failure weaning to mechanical ventilation (MV). The investigators hypothesized that a combined score that include heart, lung, and respiratory muscle ultrasound (US) evaluation could be able to predict the ability of weaning success. Furthermore, it will be described weather the days of MV before weaning trial may affect the relevance of each clinical variable evaluated.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical use of the smartphone application "Ortodontika" for the compliance of orthodontic patients with Rapid Maxillary Expander (RME). Patients and parents consenting to participate in the study will sign the informed consent for their child. At the baseline (T0), a periodontal examination will be carried out by means of a probe assessing Bleeding Index, Plaque Index and Modified Gingival Index on upper first incisors, first premolars/first primary molars and first molars. A professional oral hygiene will be performed using a piezoelectric instrument and a manual scaler. A RME will be cemented with a glass ionomer cement on the maxillary first molars and will be activated by parents on clinicians' instructions. Patients will receive an oral hygiene kit containing toothpaste, soft-bristled toothbrush, single tufted brush and interdental brushes (0.6 and 0.9 mm). Orthodontic wax and 1% chlorhexidine will be given for emergencies. At this point, patients will be divided into two groups: - Control group: verbal instructions on the correct activation of the RME and on its cleaning will be given to parents at each visit, together with verbal instructions on the correct daily practices for oral hygiene; - Trial group: use of "Ortodontika" smartphone application as adjunct to verbal instructions on the correct activation of the RME to be performed by one parent, through a daily notification until T1 (end of activations); parents have to supervise daily oral hygiene of RME and the correct daily practices for oral hygiene. A notification will be sent every 2 weeks until the end of the study to remind patients to watch the videos on oral hygiene maneuverers. Patients will be visited at the end the activations (T1), after 1.5 months (T2), after 3 (T3) and 6 months (T6). At the recall, the periodontal indices will be evaluated again. At each recall, extra products will be given for home oral hygiene Patients and parents from the Control group will receive a questionnaire to evaluate awareness of orthodontic therapy (aims and phases) and knowledge of oral hygiene maneuverers. Patients and parents from the Trial group will receive an extra questionnaire about Ortodontika application. During the study, the number of emergencies will be recorded.
The purpose of this post-authorisation medical device study is to obtain real life data on the use of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) in patients with pleural mesothelioma in routine clinical care. Patients with pleural mesothelioma and clinical indication for TTFields treatment will be enrolled in the study after signing Informed consent to use their data and process it centrally for research purposes. The clinical indication for TTFields is one of the inclusion criteria and is defined prior to inclusion by the treating physician.
Personalized Integrated Care Promoting Quality of Life for Elderly People (ProCare4Life, PC4L) project was created to finalize a digital platform with integrated sensors , for monitoring the health status of the elderly subjects with neurodegenerative diseases and comorbidities. In fact, an integrated care platform - able to establish correlations between comorbidities, investigate the intake of different drugs, mitigate potential health risks, study the social variables and promote unified therapeutic procedures or social services - could help patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and social health workers to monitor various diseases parameters. The main contribution of the PC4L project is to propose an integrated, scalable and interactive care system that can be easily adapted to the reality of various chronic diseases, care institutions and end-user needs, for the benefit of all the actors involved. The main expected results are to improve patients' quality of life, enable an active life and better disease management, support professionals in decision making, facilitate efficient communication between all stakeholders and ensure reliable and secure access to data at the within Europe.
Master protocol: The goal of this master clinical study is to test how well the study drug, brexucabtagene autoleucel, works in participants with rare B-cell malignancies: relapsed/refractory Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (r/r WM) (Substudy A - no longer recruiting), relapsed/refractory Richter transformation (r/r RT) (Substudy B), relapsed/refractory Burkitt lymphoma (r/r BL) (Substudy C and relapsed/refractory hairy cell leukemia (r/r HCL) (Substudy D - no longer recruiting).
Particulate contamination due to infusion therapy (administration of parenteral nutrition and medications) carries a potential health risk for infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). In-line filtration is increasingly used in critically-ill infants but its benefits, by preventing micro-particle infusion in neonates, remain to be demonstrated. In-line filters in the intravenous administration sets prevent the infusion of particles, which may reduce infectious complications.
A digital workflow was used to assist the oral surgeon in pre-orthodontic exposure of a vestibular impacted canine using Augmented Reality. Through software for the Object Recognition and Tracking, the researchers expand reality with cone beam computer tomography digital contents to optimize the outcome of surgery. The real-time video frames of the operating field aligned with the three-dimension file of the impacted tooth, were used as a guide to evaluate the surgical access to perform a minimally invasive flap and osteotomy.
The purpose of this study is to assess long-term safety of avacincaptad pegol intravitreal administration for patients with geographic atrophy (GA) who completed Study ISEE2008 (GATHER2) through the Month 24 visit on study treatment (either avacincaptad pegol or Sham).
This is a multicenter, randomized study to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of ABX464 50mg and 25mg administered once daily (QD) as maintenance therapy in subjects with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis who have inadequate response, no response, a loss of response, or an intolerance to either conventional therapies [corticosteroids, immunosuppressant (i.e. azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, methotrexate)] and/or advanced therapies [biologics (TNF inhibitors, anti-integrins, anti-IL-23), and/or S1P receptor modulators, and/or JAK inhibitors]. This study is the maintenance phase of both previous induction studies ABX464-105 and ABX464-106. All eligible subjects who have completed either one of the induction studies above mentioned, will be given the opportunity to take part in the present ABX464-107 maintenance study and will be randomized to either a double blind, placebo-controlled part (Part #1) or allocated to ABX464 50mg or 25mg open label treatment arms (Part #2) depending on their clinical response at the end of induction. This study consists of a 44-week treatment phase and a 28-days follow-up period consisting in the End of Study (EOS) visit.
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of cevostamab in participants with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM) via intravenous (IV) infusion.
