There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study is designed for patients diagnosed with MET-driven, unresectable and locally advanced or metastatic Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma. The purpose of this study is to see if an investigational new anti-cancer medication, savolitinib, is effective in treating patients with MET-driven PRCC, how it compares with another medication frequently used to treat this disease called sunitinib, and what side effects it might cause.
There is considerable evidence that most general anaesthetics modulate brain development in animal studies. The impact is greater with longer durations of exposure and in younger animals. There is great controversy over whether or not these animal data are relevant to human clinical scenarios. The changes seen in preclinical studies are greatest with GABA agonists and NMDA antagonists such as volatile anaesthetics (eg sevoflurane), propofol, midazolam, ketamine, and nitrous oxide. There is less evidence for an effect with opioid (such as remifentanil) or with alpha 2 agonists (such as dexmedetomidine). Some, but not all, human cohort studies show an association between exposure to anaesthesia in infancy or early childhood and later changes in cognitive tests, school performance or risk of developing neurodevelopmental disorders. The evidence is weak due to possible confounding. A recent well designed cohort study (the PANDA study) comparing young children that had hernia repair to their siblings found no evidence for a difference in a range of detailed neuropsychological tests. In that study most children were exposed to up to two hours of anaesthesia. The only trial (the GAS trial) has compared children having hernia repair under regional or general anesthesia and has found no evidence for a difference in neurodevelopment when tested at two years of age. The GAS and PANDA studies confirm the animal data that short exposure is unlikely to cause any neurodevelopmental impact. The impact of longer exposures is still unknown. In humans the strongest evidence for an association between surgery and poor neurodevelopmental outcome is in infants having major surgery. However, this is also the group where confounding is most likely. The aim of our study is to see if a new combination of anaesthetic drugs results in a better long-term developmental outcome than the current standard of care for children having anaesthesia expected to last 2 hours or longer. Children will be randomised to receive either a low dose sevoflurane/remifentanil/dexmedetomidine or standard dose sevoflurane anaesthetic. They will receive a neurodevelopmental assessment at 3 years of age to assess global cognitive function.
This is a biomarker-driven trial that will enroll patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck progressing after first-line platinum-based chemotherapy. Based on potential biomarkers and molecular alterations identified in the biopsy from the central platform, patients will be allocated in different cohorts. There will be biomarker-positive patient cohorts and immunotherapy cohorts.
Multicenter, Prospective, Randomized Controlled, Blinded Trial, with a Non-implant Control group; 1:1 randomization.
In this phase 2, single arm trial patients with locally advanced or metastatic, pathologically proven, EGFR expressing chordoma will be treated with afatinib. Two cohorts of patients will be included: 20 first line patients and 20 second or further line patients. The treatment will be given in 4 week cycles until disease progression. Median PFS according to RECIST 1.1 will be evaluated. The objective is to increase the median PFS ≥ 12 months in first-line treatment cohort and ≥ 9 months in later-line treatment cohort. Additional exploratory research will be performed, consisting of a pharmacokinetic study and translational studies on EGFR pathway activation and signalling on blood and tumor samples.
The ANTHEM™PS Total Knee System is being conducted to demonstrate non-inferiority of 10 year implant survivorship in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis compared to reported literature
This is a homogeneous, single institution, observational, non-interventional, prospective study of 500 patients who will be treated according to the standard protocol of adjuvant hypofractionated radiotherapy after breast conserving surgery, at a total dose of 40 Gy/ 15 fr (5 fr/ week, 3 consecutive weeks). In addition to the regular follow up, the patients will respond to the quality-of-life questionnaires (QLQ) of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), general, QLQ- C30, and specific for breast (BR), QLQ- BR23, at the first visit, at the end of radiotherapy and at the subsequent follow-up visits from 6 months up to 5 and a half years, to evaluate the quality of life during and after the treatment. The study also has a retrospective arm of approximately 1300 patients, treated from January 2009, for whom disease control and toxicity will be evaluated.
The objective of this study is to test the scale structure, reliability, validity and responsiveness to change of the QLQ-CML24 in conjuction with the QLQ-C30 for patients diagnosed with CML, and to investigate longitudinal relationship between satisfaction with information provision and QoL outcomes.
To evaluate the overall survival of HLA-A*0201 positive adult patients with previously untreated advanced UM receiving IMCgp100 compared to Investigator's Choice of dacarbazine, ipilimumab, or pembrolizumab.
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of BIIB067 (tofersen) in participants with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and confirmed superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) mutation. The secondary objectives are to evaluate the pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD), biomarker effects, and efficacy of BIIB067 administered to participants with ALS and a confirmed SOD1 mutation.
