There are about 21062 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Italy. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Dapagliflozin is a member of the sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor class antidiabetes agents which produces significant and sustained reductions in glycemic parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). However, its non-glycemic effects are still largely unknown. The investigators will evaluate for the first time the effect of dapagliflozin on multiple cardio-metabolic risk markers in one study. So far, no data on the effects of dapagliflozin as well as other SGLT-2 inhibitors on subclinical atherosclerosis, endothelial function, inflammatory markers, cytokines and atherogenic lipoproteins is available. In addition, the investigators will examine microRNAs (miRNAs) implicated in the development and progression of atherosclerotic disease. Again, no data is currently available on dapaglifozin's as well as other SGLT-2 inhibitors' effects on miRNAs. The results of this study will show for the first time the potential multiple, non-glycemic effects of dapagliflozin, reducing multiple cardio-metabolic risk markers, which will ultimately lead to decreased CV risk. In addition, specific mechanisms of the dapagliflozin cardiovascular action will be investigated. Finally, the results of this study may pave the way for personalized therapy (using the results on miRNAs).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical and virologic benefit of pimodivir in combination with Standard-of-Care (SOC) treatment compared to placebo in combination with SOC treatment.
The TAP block is typically performed either with ultrasound guidance (TAP-US) or laparoscopic visualization (TAP-LAP): comparison between these two technics showed no differences in pain control and use of opioid analgesics. The investigators hypothesize that WI is non-inferior to WI + TAP-block with respect to postoperative pain.
This study evaluates the preoperative cardiovascular risk, the intraoperative hemodynamic characteristics and the surgical photo-plethysmographic index of patients undergoing general anesthesia for non-cardiac vascular surgery to develop a multiple variable model assessing the risk for postoperative myocardial ischemic events.
Randomized controlled tril to evaluate the safety and efficacy for the combination of L. reuteri ATCC PTA 5289 & L. reuteri DSM 17938 in pregnant women with periodontitis and/or gingivits to improve oral health and at the same time reduce the risk for prematurity or intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). Women in this study wil receive L. reuteri Prodentis (L. reuteri DSM 17938 & L. reuteri ATCC PTA 5289 ) at a dose of 2x10^8 Colony Forming Units (CFU). One lozenges is to be taken twice per day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) giving a total daily dose of at least 4x108 CFU/day since randomization until delivery. The control group will receive placebo lozenges which contains identical ingredients except for lacking the bacteria. One lozenges is to be taken twice per day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The study product will be kept refrigerated (+20 - +80 C)
The aim of the study is to investigate the link between pro-inflammatory T cells responses arising in the skin in patients with cutaneous psoriasis and those present in the joints of patients developing psoriatic arthritis. The study is based on the hypothesis that a fraction of T cells with memory phenotype can recirculate from the skin and relocalize at extracutaneous sites including enthesis or synovial tissue thus propagating the pro-inflammatory cycle. This could represent a pathogenic mechanism in the development of PsA. The main aim of the study is to define the phenotypic and functional differences of circulating T cells in patients cutaneous psoriasis, patients with psoriatic arthritis and in control group of healthy subject. To this end the investigators analyze the expression of cell surface markers of central memory (TCM), effector memory (TEM) and effector (Teff) cells, within this subsets the investigators evaluate the expression of chemokine receptors as well as skin and tissue homing molecules. There will be also an evaluation of the T cell polarization towards Th1/Tc1 or Th17/Tc17 phenotype by evaluating the cytokine expression profile. In selected patients with PsA the researchers analyze in parallel the phenotype and the cytokine profile of T cell subpopulations in peripheral blood and in synovial fluid, The results of this study could possibly allow to define distinctive features of circulating T cells in patients with PsA and to understand the link between circulating and synovial fluid T cells in patients with PsA.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pembrolizumab + epacadostat vs pembrolizumab + placebo as a treatment for recurrent or progressive metastatic urothelial carcinoma in patients who have failed a first-line platinum-containing chemotherapy regimen for advanced/metastatic disease.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of increasing amino acid and energy intake during parenteral and enteral nutrition with and without the stimulation of the infant's physical activity, on growth of extremely low birth weight infants .
This is an open label, long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy study of GIVINOSTAT in all DMD (Duchenne's muscular dystrophy) patients who have been previously treated in one of the GIVINOSTAT studies.
Purpose of the study is to test whether study drug BAY1128688 brings relief for pain to women with endometriosis and if so to get a first impression which dose(s) work best.
