NCT ID: NCT01585805 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

Gemcitabine Hydrochloride and Cisplatin With or Without Veliparib or Veliparib Alone in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer

Start date: May 15, 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial studies how well veliparib together with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin works compared to gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin alone in treating patients with pancreatic cancer that has spread from where it started to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or spread from the primary site (place where it started) to other places in the body (metastatic). Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether giving veliparib together with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin is an effective treatment for pancreatic cancer.

NCT ID: NCT01569425 Active, not recruiting - Insulin Resistance Clinical Trials

Meal Timing on Glucose Metabolism and Hyperandrogenism in Lean Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

M-PCOS
Start date: March 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), weight loss improves insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism, resulting in improvement of clinical symptoms. Weight loss is not required in lean PCOS patients; nevertheless, the influence of meal timing and composition on glucose metabolism and hyperandrogenism may have clinical value. In this study the investigators investigate the effects of two isocaloric diets with different meal timing distribution on insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism in lean PCOS patients.

NCT ID: NCT01566591 Active, not recruiting - Bipolar Depression Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy Study of Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Bipolar Depression

Start date: May 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of H1-Coil deep brain rTMS in subjects with bipolar depression, taking mood stabilizers and previously unsuccessfully treated with antidepressant medications.

NCT ID: NCT01555710 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer

Study of Palifosfamide-tris in Combination With Carboplatin and Etoposide in Chemotherapy Naïve Patients With Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (The MATISSE Study)

Start date: May 2012
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a multinational, multicenter, randomized controlled, open-label, adaptive study to evaluate the efficacy of PaCE chemotherapy in chemotherapy naive subjects with extensive-stage SCLC. Eligible subjects will be stratified according to age, gender, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, and randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either PaCE or CE chemotherapy. The study design uses an adaptive group sequential approach with sample size re-estimation at the interim analysis. Secondary efficacy endpoints include ORR, PFS, duration of response and changes in QOL and disease-related symptoms. Tumor-related endpoints will be assessed according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) v1.1 guidelines. The safety of study treatments will be assessed by the frequency and severity of adverse events as determined by National Cancer Institute (NCI) Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v4.03. To provide an initial confirmation of safety, an early interim analysis of safety data only will be performed. An independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) will be convened to assess the safety and efficacy of the study interventions and to monitor the overall conduct of the clinical trial.

NCT ID: NCT01517633 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Amniotic Fluid Leakage

Study of a Diagnostic Device for Identifying Between Amniotic Fluid to Urine

Start date: January 2012
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the reliability and validity of a new device with standard methods for diagnosing between amniotic fluid leakage due to premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) and urine.

NCT ID: NCT01515787 Active, not recruiting - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

PROSPECT: Chemotherapy Alone or Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer Undergoing Surgery

Start date: June 12, 2012
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer involves chemotherapy and radiation, known as 5FUCMT, (the chemotherapy drugs 5-fluorouracil/capecitabine and radiation therapy) prior to surgery. Although radiation therapy to the pelvis has been a standard and important part of treatment for rectal cancer and has been shown to decrease the risk of the cancer coming back in the same area in the pelvis, some patients experience undesirable side effects from the radiation and there have been important advances in chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation which may be of benefit. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects, both good and bad, of the standard treatment of chemotherapy and radiation to chemotherapy using a combination regimen known as FOLFOX, (the drugs 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin and leucovorin) and selective use of the standard treatment, depending on response to the FOLFOX. The drugs in the FOLFOX regimen are all FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved and have been used routinely to treat patients with advanced colorectal cancer.

NCT ID: NCT01515267 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Left Ventricular Function

Automated Left Ventricular Function Evaluation by LVivoEF

LVivoEF
Start date: November 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) is evaluated in every echocardiographic examination either by visual estimation (eyeballing) requiring high level of training and expertise and/or by manual tracing of the endocard from which EF is calculated (manual biplane method (MBP)). This procedure is subjective and time consuming. The objective of this study is to compare the performance of LVivoEF software system to the measurements obtained by the routinely used methods.

NCT ID: NCT01511861 Active, not recruiting - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Assessing the Reliability of Non-invasive Blood Glucose Monitoring Device

Start date: November 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Adequate glycemic control in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a desired therapeutic goal that is difficult to achieve with current blood glucose monitoring technology. Home blood glucose monitoring (HBGM) technology, which requires finger pricking, is a source of severe inconvenience and hence, a lack of compliance. Thus, the need for non-invasive and easy to operate glucose monitoring in DM patients for strict glycemic control cannot be overemphasized. The Glucometer GM-205 blood glucose readings are accurate and measure blood glucose with an acceptable mean relative error when compared to acceptable invasive blood glucose measurements. The primary objectives of the trial are to determine: 1. Assessing the reliability of the Glucometer GM-205 in evaluating blood glucose levels compare to the standard glucose blood test 2. Creating database of glucose levels readings utilizing the Glucometer GM-205.
