Classification and Characterization of Physical Strains During Sorting Series: Physiological Aspects

2 young candidates have tragically died during army pre-recruitment sorting series in 2006. As part of the classification and characterization of the physical aspects of the training, this experiment was requested. We aim at determining the characteristics of physical strains in sorting series, by objective and subjective parameters and evaluating the difficulty levels and intensity of those strains.

Cerebral Near-infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) Monitoring Throughout Caesarean Deliveries

In this study the investigator would like to examine hemodynamic cerebral blood flow and brain function by the use of Invos cerebral oximetry in women undergoing cesarean section delivery. This study is a purely observational study, it will not have any clinical intervention nor will it interfere with standard cesarean delivery protocols in any way. The investigator's primary objective is to evaluate how anesthesia influences cerebral blood flow perfusion during cesarean section deliveries.

Short vs Prolonged Antibiotic Treatment for Hospitalized Hemato-oncology Patients With Febrile Neutropenia

Neutropenic fever is a life threatening condition that is not rare in patients suffering from hematologic disorders, and of paramount importance to early and effective treatment. In this trial we concentrate on hospitalized patients with hematologic malignancies who develop neutropenic fever. In recent years, several studies were conducted to examine possible changes in the conventional empirical treatment, assuming that administration of the antibiotics in a prolonged infusion would allow for a greater fT > MIC that will lead to a better efficacy. These studies were carried out in different populations and there is only limited information about the importance of continuous infusion therapy in patients with hematologic diseases with neutropenic fever. Research goals: The main goal is to compare between two groups of hematologic patients with neutropenic fever, The first group will receive antibiotic therapy in extended infusion, and the second (control) group will receive the treatment in a fixed time.

The Correlation of Myodural Bridges to Biomechanical Parameters in Patients Suffering From Primary Chronic Neck Pain

In recent years, an anatomical connection of suboccipital muscle fibers to the dura has been found in pathological studies. The physiologic function of these fibers is still unknown. Using Magnetic Resonance Tomography (MRI), this study will investigate whether these fibers undergo changes in patients suffering from primary chronic neck pain. In addition, the biomechanical parameters of neck movements in these patients will be correlated with the imaging findings.

Buccal Midazolam Versus Nasal or Oral Midazolam Sedation for Minor Invasive Procedures in Children

Currently Midazolam sedation is the standard of care for minor invasive procedures in pediatric patients; its use is restricted to two routes of administration for this purpose oral and intranasal. A third route of administration (buccal) is tested and approved for seizure management. In the investigators' study the researchers investigate the buccal route of administration versus oral or intranasal administration for sedation. The investigators' hypothesis is that buccal route of administration is more convenient than intranasal and better absorbed than oral.

Validity of TURN 180 Test to Distinguish Between the Fallers and Non-Fallers

As the geriatric population continues to rise, the consequences of falls and fall-related injuries carry increasing socioeconomic significance. Fall during turning is 7.9 times more likely to result in hip fracture than a fall while walking straight. Hence, turning carries a significant risk for hip fracture. Turning is ubiquitous during activities of daily living, yet most gait research has focused on straight ahead walking. Turning affects lower limb kinematics, kinetics, and step parameters. Therefore it appears to be a greater challenge for individuals with mobility problems. Turning ability is affected by age changes and balance confidence. TURN180 test was built to assess the parameters of turning. It has four major categories which are the most readily identified indictors of difficulty in turning while walking. These categories are: (1) the type of turn (or strategy) used to accomplish the turn, (2) the number of steps taken during the turn, (3) the time taken to accomplish the turn, and (4) staggering during the turn. The purpose of this study is to explore the TURN180 test ability to evaluate the risk of falling in the elderly population and compare it to the known gold standard clinical test. This is a validation study of balance and mobility tests using a three-group sample of convenience. The independent elderly subjects (n=75) will be divided into three groups according to their falls history and undergo four balance tests: Timed "Up and Go" test (TUG), Tinetti Balance Test (Tinetti), Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The participants will be videotaped while performing the TUG test. Basic temporospatial aspects of turning during walking such as the number of steps taken during the turn and the time taken to accomplish the turn will be measured using both the slow-motion and stop-action capabilities of the VCR system and a time-code processor.

Dental Support Device During Breastfeeding as a Mean for Pain Control

Leboride is a dental support device that was developed for reducing pain during active labor. It is made of an inert material, placed in the woman's mouth and does not disturb breathing, talking, or any other activity expected during labor. It is a single-use device, each user receives a new one. This study hypothesis is that the Leboride use can reduce pain during breastfeeding, by that improve women's breastfeeding experience, and increase breastfeeding rates.

This study evaluates the Rayner T-flex Toric IOLs for spherical and astigmatic correction, and rotational stability in cataract surgery. 50 patients with cataract and corneal astigmatism >= 2 diopters will undergo cataract surgery, with implantation of Rayner toric intraocular lens. Post-operative examination will include IOL axis measurements and refraction.

Does Acupuncture Therapy Reduce the Need for Labor Induction After Postdate (Week 41)

In recent years, it is accepted to induce birth at week 41 in order to reduce the risk in surplus pregnancies. It was found that after 41 weeks, there is a significant increase in pregnancy complications including meconium liquor, shoulder dystocia and fetal death in uterus. Induction at 41 weeks was found to reduce the risk of complications described above, without taking the risk of cesarean section and, therefore, the recommendation of the Israel Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, is to induce birth for women who completed 41 weeks of pregnancy. Induction is performed mechanically by entering a balloon to the cervix or by medicated prostaglandins and later, intravenous Pitocin to most women. The process takes two to three days with about 60-70% success rate. In recent years there has been a growing awareness to use natural methods to start labor. Many women tend to turn to natural medicine in order to reduce the need for conventional drugs to start labor. Given the lack of research on the issue and considering the rising demand of the involvement of alternative medicine in labor induction process, the investigators decided to carry out research on this subject.
